Prague-tastic! Post 400: A Pink Tutu Christmas in the City of a Hundred Spires

Hello my darling tutu-loving lovelies! It’s Emma here, and it’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another fabulously festive post from your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, train-hopping ballerina blogger! Today I’m waltzing my way through the charming streets of Prague, and let me tell you, it’s absolutely enchanting!

This week, we’re celebrating a special milestone – a whopping 400 blog posts! I’m absolutely thrilled to be sharing this journey with you all. It’s been an incredible adventure, and seeing you join me on it has been the absolute highlight of my year (so far, of course! ;) ).

But back to the magical city of Prague! This Christmas season has been absolutely picture-perfect – think cobbled streets twinkling with fairy lights, towering churches adorned with glittering stars, and the scent of gingerbread cookies wafting from every corner.

And just like a scene straight out of a ballet performance, I’ve been whirling through the city, trying to absorb all the stunning sights and sounds. Imagine, darling, a picturesque square framed by vibrant red-roofed buildings, a charming old bridge spanning a glistening river, and a massive Christmas tree proudly standing in the middle, draped with sparkling lights! Oh, the joy!

I have to admit, it's difficult to choose my favourite spot. Every corner holds its own charm! But if I had to pick, I’d say the Astronomical Clock on the Old Town Square steals the show. Imagine a beautiful medieval clock with intricate carvings, dancing figures, and a dramatic bell that chimes every hour, adding to the magic. It’s mesmerising, simply mesmerising!

Speaking of mesmerising, this Christmas has been full of balletic treats! You won’t believe the amazing performance I witnessed last night. The National Theatre’s rendition of ‘The Nutcracker’ was nothing short of spectacular!

Imagine this – the stage aglow with vibrant sets and colourful costumes, ballerinas swirling with graceful elegance, the soaring notes of the orchestra creating a captivating melody. My goodness, it was such a heartwarming performance. It really brought the spirit of Christmas alive!

After the show, I couldn’t resist venturing into a nearby boutique to indulge in some festive fashion. Let me tell you, dear readers, the streets here are positively overflowing with stunning shops bursting with incredible designs. It’s a true ballerina’s paradise! I snagged a magnificent silver-threaded shawl adorned with delicate snowflake patterns, a perfect touch for a cold Prague evening.

And my outfit, darling? Naturally, a breathtakingly pink tutu! A festive crimson ribbon with twinkling silver beads adorned my delicate neckline, adding an extra dash of sparkle. I even sported my favourite pink pom-pom-embellished ballet shoes – a classic ballerina touch for my festive wanderings!

Oh, I almost forgot! My travels to Prague would have been incomplete without a stop at the iconic Charles Bridge! It was a truly beautiful sight, with each side of the bridge lined with intricate statues depicting stories from Czech legends and history. And you know me, darling! I couldn't resist striking a pose on the bridge itself, feeling every bit like a fairy tale princess in my flowing tutu!

I couldn’t leave Prague without a bit of history! Let me tell you, darling, the story of the tutu is deeply fascinating! The early forms of the tutu evolved in the early 19th century, and you won't believe this – they weren't pink! Imagine, a delicate but rather utilitarian knee-length white skirt designed for balletic movements. But as time went on, ballerinas like Marie Taglioni pushed the boundaries and favoured shorter, more revealing tutus to showcase their remarkable agility and strength. Talk about breaking boundaries!

So, my dear readers, what a magnificent city! It truly is a symphony of beauty and grace. And yes, I must say, my favourite pink tutu did make a dazzling debut amongst the grandeur of Prague!

Speaking of grandeur, it’s time for me to wind up this week’s blog post, but before I sign off, a little note of thanks. Thank you for accompanying me on this magical journey. It truly warms my heart to share my love of ballet, my obsession with pink tutus, and of course, my adventurous spirit with all of you!

Until next Wednesday, remember – always strive to pirouette through life with elegance and a touch of pink!

Sending you all big tutu hugs and sparkling kisses!

Much love, Emma xoxo
