Prague: Pink Tutu Adventures (Blog Post #405)

Hello my darling dears!

This week I'm whisking you off on a pink tutu adventure to the heart of Europe: Prague!

It's been a whirlwind few days - I simply adore this city. It’s charming, vibrant, and absolutely dripping in history. The architecture here is breathtaking – I can’t believe how many incredible castles, bridges, and churches there are to discover. I can’t wait to tell you all about my favourite finds!

I'm already in love with Prague, which I believe is the perfect city for any tutu enthusiast (and who isn’t?) Imagine strolling across the Charles Bridge in a voluminous pink tutu – it just makes my heart flutter!

Travel with a Tutu: Arriving in Prague

Before we get into the delicious details of my adventures, I have to tell you about the journey itself! It's not often that I get to travel by train these days, so this trip was a treat in itself. Imagine a compartment with big windows overlooking the English countryside, then Germany’s picturesque hills, and finally the gorgeous Czech countryside! It was such a lovely way to travel, with lots of time to reflect on all the fantastic things to come. I do, of course, think my bright pink tutu brightened up the otherwise quite beige carriage interior and inspired my fellow passengers!

I must tell you that travelling with a tutu is actually quite a bit easier than it looks. The secret is to pick the perfect travel-friendly design (mine is a beautiful chiffon confection with elasticated waistband – oh so comfortable!).

Once we arrived in Prague, I hopped onto a delightful horse-drawn carriage to take me to my delightful pink-themed hotel! Yes, you heard right - my own pink paradise! They even gave me a delicious homemade welcome cake – it was a pink flamingo shape! How could I resist sharing a picture on my Instagram? It was just too adorable.

Ballet in Prague: From Past to Present

Oh my dears! Prague is simply brimming with ballet! We’re talking ballet everywhere - it's just part of the city's heart and soul! There’s such a rich history here – I was in ballet heaven, honestly. From visiting the historical archives at the National Theatre, where I gazed upon breathtaking costumes and designs from centuries ago, to attending a rehearsal of “Giselle" at the beautiful Estates Theatre - my dreams were coming true! It really is the most magical city!

Of course, I couldn't resist buying a brand new tutu! You know, for this trip, I decided I needed a very special one to compliment the grandeur of Prague – something elegant, dramatic, and with just a hint of history. You’re going to be just swooning when you see this new addition to my tutu wardrobe – a breathtaking ivory tutu with exquisite black lace detail. It’s my newest “favourite!”

Ballet Dreams and Pink Delight

And speaking of dreams – I went to see a ballet at the National Theatre – the legendary Swan Lake – on my very first day in Prague! I sat mesmerised as the beautiful dancers flitted across the stage in those magical costumes. Their movements were so light and elegant – it just swept me away! And of course, I took a fabulous picture in front of the majestic building for Instagram!

Speaking of beauty, oh my dear, there was such a pretty vintage tutu at a shop I discovered in Prague! It’s almost a century old! It’s an adorable creation in a soft, creamy pastel pink with delicate floral details. I don't even want to imagine what it must have cost in its time! I did my very best to try and resist the urge to take it home with me, but sadly, it’s destined to be a lifelong reminder of the beauty of this trip to Prague.

I will certainly share a picture soon, but do be warned, you may want to get your own little pink tutu collection started as a result!

A Tutu Lover's Shopping Paradise

Shopping in Prague is pure joy for any pink tutu fan. The shops are so beautifully arranged and filled with treasures. I managed to find the perfect dress to go with my new black lace tutu (a deep, luxurious red - perfect for dancing!) in an amazing little boutique off Old Town Square.

One of my favourite shops was La Vie en Rose, an absolutely gorgeous antique shop dedicated entirely to antique and vintage lingerie. The lace and silk gowns on display were absolutely exquisite. I resisted the temptation to buy every single one of them (for now!) because you know I can't possibly buy everything! But I found some beautiful vintage-style lace trims to add to my own tutu creations, and a very special set of pink lace gloves, the most beautiful thing! (I just couldn’t leave them behind - don't judge!)

I can't recommend Prague highly enough for fashion-lovers – it’s just the best!

Tutus on the Town: A Night Under the Prague Stars

One evening, I decided to take my new pink lace tutu for a walk around the city. I have to admit – a tutu always adds an extra bit of excitement to a walk in any city! Prague is already so charming, it's almost magical! There were so many street performers – violinists, singers, dancers – they really bring the whole city alive.

After wandering the narrow streets for an hour or so, I went to have dinner with my friends at the Dancing House. The interior was absolutely amazing - I wouldn’t have been surprised to have stumbled into a fairytale! The food was delicious, and I of course found a very appropriate ballet themed table decoration that I immediately bought as a souvenir for my darling Mum! It was a vintage picture of dancers in tutus on the stage. I thought it would look fabulous on her dresser back home!

My evening culminated with a spectacular concert by a string quartet in the beautiful gothic halls of St. George's Basilica, a true highlight of my time here.

More Adventures: To Be Continued...

Well, darling dears, I’m already longing to return! This is truly a city that makes your heart soar, a place where I could easily get lost in its charm and fairytale architecture.

As it's late and I’m planning to get up early for my ballet class at the ballet school, I must leave you for now. But trust me, you will definitely be hearing much more about this exquisite city. I still have so much to tell you about:

  • My adventures in the Czech countryside (you might be surprised by my choice of transportation!)
  • More incredible ballet stories (and the dancers themselves!)
  • Delicious Prague food!
  • Discovering even more hidden pink treasures!

And, of course, more pink tutu styling tips!

See you next Wednesday for more Pink Tutu Prague adventures, and do send me your own Prague stories (or just dreamy tales) on our Pink Tutu website: www.pink-tutu.com

Remember, darlings, my aim is to get everyone wearing a pink tutu! What better place than Prague to continue spreading the joy?

With a sprinkle of pink tutu love,

Emma
