Prague: A Pink Tutu Paradise! 🩰💖

#414 - 2nd April, 2003 - www.pink-tutu.com

Hello darlings! It’s your favourite pink-loving ballerina, Emma, reporting live from Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires! It’s Wednesday, which means it’s time for another Pink Tutu adventure. Grab your cuppa and settle in because today’s blog is bursting with Parisian elegance, Viennese waltzes, and a whole heap of tutus. 😉

I arrived in Prague by train, of course. Nothing beats the romance of travelling across Europe by rail. I opted for the luxurious first-class carriage and sat with a glass of champagne, watching the landscape whizz by in a kaleidoscope of greens and blues. Feeling the rhythm of the tracks beneath me, I couldn't help but tap my toes and twirl around the carriage in my favourite pink tutu – yes, I am that lady who dances on public transport! It's just so much more fun that way!

Speaking of fun, Prague is absolutely whimsical. Cobbled streets winding through charming squares, Baroque architecture bursting with detail, and a river running like a silver ribbon through the heart of the city – it's a fairytale brought to life! I could practically hear a waltz playing in the air, and the urge to twirl in my pink tutu was overwhelming! I'm planning on doing just that later, near the Charles Bridge, the perfect spot to feel like a princess for the day. ✨

Now, the reason for my trip to Prague? Why, it's ballet, darling! I just had to see the National Theatre Ballet perform "Swan Lake". It's been a lifelong dream to see this iconic masterpiece, and the theatre itself is absolutely breathtaking. Imagine, plush velvet seating, shimmering chandeliers, and the faint scent of old books... Pure magic!

I was especially impressed with the National Theatre's costume department. Talk about attention to detail! The tutus for the swan lake scenes were ethereal, shimmering like moonlight on a pond. I even spotted a few lovely pinks hidden among the whites – perhaps I'm seeing my favourite colour a bit too much these days, but hey, what can I say? It’s Pink Tutu! 😉

But Prague has so much more to offer than just ballet! The shopping here is divine. I snagged a few vintage lace blouses, some embroidered fabric for future tutu creations, and even a gorgeous pair of velvet opera gloves. A ballerina's gotta have her accessories, don't you think? And speaking of fashion, let's talk about the locals! There's such an eclectic sense of style in Prague, and it's inspiring. Everyone dresses with flair, even the little children! It's a reminder that fashion can be fun, expressive, and a way to share your own unique style with the world.

Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without a trip to Cafe Slavia, a historic café near the National Theatre. It's said to be a favourite haunt for artists and intellectuals, and the atmosphere here is simply magical. The afternoon sun streamed through the windows, bathing the café in a warm glow, and the chatter of locals mingled with the tinkling of spoons on porcelain cups. I felt like I’d been transported back to a bygone era – and then I twirled in my tutu. 😊

The next day, I decided to explore the city on horseback! A little bit of a detour, yes, but hear me out! There’s something absolutely captivating about exploring a city on a graceful steed. You feel so free, so close to nature, yet also immersed in the history and energy of the place.

Imagine galloping through the cobbled streets of Old Town, past the towering churches and grand palaces, with the wind whipping through your hair and the sun on your face… well, maybe not that galloping part! This being Prague, I settled for a leisurely trot, my pink tutu billowing gently behind me. It’s probably the most graceful way to travel in a pink tutu, don’t you agree? 😄

There are so many things I've yet to experience in Prague. I’m dying to visit the historic Jewish Quarter, go for a riverside stroll on a pink paddleboat, and see a show at the Old Town Square, where history comes alive with the astronomical clock.

Oh, and I almost forgot! You know I love my ballet street performances, so I'm already looking into places in Prague to bring my pink tutu and my favourite choreographies. Think of a ballet flash mob in the middle of the Charles Bridge – wouldn’t that be a sight?

One thing I can say for sure, Prague has won me over. It's a city that sparks joy, encourages creativity, and reminds you to always be a little bit playful. It’s a pink tutu kind of place, in my opinion! 💕

That's it for today, darlings! I’m off to enjoy some traditional Czech dumplings (a ballerina can indulge now and then, right?), maybe pick up some vintage pink satin to create a new tutu, and then dance under the stars near the Charles Bridge. Stay tuned for more adventures from the Pink Tutu Princess of Prague. Until next Wednesday, don't forget to wear your pink tutu with pride!

XOXO

Emma 🌸
