Prague: Where Ballerinas Go to Dream (Post #446)

Wednesday 12th November, 2003

Hello, darling! Itā€™s Emma from www.pink-tutu.com, writing to you from the enchanting city of Prague! And let me tell you, Iā€™ve been having the most fabulous time, soaking up the fairytale atmosphere, getting my fill of historical delights, and, of course, indulging in some truly spectacular ballet performances!

Now, as you know, Iā€™ve been travelling the globe for years, making memories and spreading the joy of pink tutus everywhere I go. Itā€™s my lifeā€™s mission, you see, to convince everyone that pink tutus are not only fabulously chic, but also the most fun way to express yourself! And I think Prague is truly embracing this message with open arms ā€“ youā€™d be surprised how many stunning, tutu-tastic outfits I've spotted!

I got here by train, you know. I do love a good train journey ā€“ the rhythm of the tracks, the passing scenery, it's truly inspiring. This time, it was even more magical thanks to the stunning autumn colours dancing outside my window. Once I arrived in Prague, I found the most adorable little pony carriage that whisked me straight to my charming hotel in the heart of the old town.

And Prague really is a dream come true for a ballet-loving, tutu-adoring soul like me! The cobbled streets are a perfect stage for pirouette practice, and the historic architecture provides an awe-inspiring backdrop for graceful leaps. Oh, I have the most delightful photographs that I just can't wait to share with you soon. Youā€™ll be swooning over these picturesque scenes.

This week, the highlight was definitely attending the ā€˜Pink Tutu Pragueā€™ ballet production! Oh my goodness, you haven't seen such a stunning performance. It was held at the most beautiful old theatre, a veritable treasure trove of elaborate gilding and rich velvet curtains. And as soon as the curtain rose, I was transported to a magical world. The choreography was exquisite, full of poetry in motion. It made my heart sing with every graceful twirl and powerful leap!

And the tutusā€¦ oh, the tutus! From the delicate whispers of tulle in the ā€œFlower Waltzā€ to the grand statement of the lead ballerinaā€™s solo, each one was a masterpiece. Imagine layers of ethereal silk, adorned with sparkling sequins and delicate ribbons, a feast for the eyes and the imagination! It truly was an unforgettable experience.

Of course, I couldn't leave Prague without a little souvenir shopping. The streets are a treasure trove of antiques, exquisite glassware, and bohemian art. I picked up a vintage-inspired ballerina figurine that will look so darling on my dresser and a pair of exquisite silver earrings shaped like ballet slippers. Can you imagine how wonderful these will look with my signature pink tutus? And I stumbled across the most fantastic book about ballet costumes ā€“ it features everything from the earliest styles right through to the modern day, with glorious pictures of everything from Marie Taglioniā€™s revolutionary ā€˜La Sylphideā€™ to modern-day designersā€™ creations! I couldn't resist adding it to my ever-growing ballet collection!

As for today, I'm looking forward to a very special treat: Iā€™ve booked a lesson at a prestigious ballet school. Not only can I brush up on my pirouettes and fouettĆ©s, but itā€™s also a wonderful opportunity to connect with the local ballet community. You never know who you might meet ā€“ a budding starlet, perhaps? I always try to encourage everyone I meet to wear their heart (and their dreams!) on their sleeveā€¦ or better yet, on their tulle!

But enough about my plans for now ā€“ it's time for a spot of tea and a slice of delicious apple strudel (I have to try one of every flavour I can find when I travel!) and to continue writing down my thoughts. I simply have to share with you all my exciting discoveries and delightful moments with every gorgeous detail, wouldn't you agree? I can't wait to catch up again next Wednesday with another exciting installment from this charming city. And don't forget ā€“ keep your tutus at the ready, my dears!

Much love and twirls,

Emma www.pink-tutu.com
