Prague: Pink Tutu Perfection - Post #458
Wednesday, 4th February 2004
Darling readers! This week, I'm writing to you from the most enchanting city imaginable, Prague! Yes, I finally made it to the magical Czech Republic. It’s all I've ever dreamt of! I must admit, travelling here by train was a real adventure. Imagine, me, in my pale pink tutu, clutching a copy of “Giselle” and waving enthusiastically from the carriage window at the rolling countryside!
Of course, my travels are funded by my ballet performances - who needs a real job when you can dance your way around the world, right? I managed to fit in a lovely performance at a local theatre in Derbyshire before embarking on my journey, a heartwarming rendition of Swan Lake that brought the house down. Such a sweet audience! The lovely vicar's wife even complimented me on the matching pink roses in my bun. She just loves a bit of pink, bless her!
Arriving in Prague was a dream come true. The charming cobbled streets, the stunning architecture, the magical air - it was like stepping out of a fairytale. I was immediately smitten by the whimsical shops bursting with unique treasures. You’ll just have to believe me when I say Prague is definitely tutu-worthy!
Of course, I went straight for a lovely frock to wear on my first night out. You know I like to make an entrance wherever I go! I chose a divine magenta frock with a lace bodice and swirling skirt. The perfect complement to my favourite tulle tutu – you can't be a ballerina and leave your tulle at home! And darling, what an experience! My new frock really made a statement in the heart of Prague!
But first, I indulged in the local cuisine - such divine, fluffy dumplings! I savored a plate of traditional goulash and a delicious, steaming bowl of creamy mushroom soup. I must admit, I'm becoming quite the gastronome these days. Between you and me, my secret pleasure is eating my soup directly from the bowl. It makes for such an elegant way to scoop up those little pearl-like dumplings.
Oh, I nearly forgot - I was lucky enough to see the ballet "The Nutcracker" tonight at the National Theatre. A simply divine production! The story, the costumes, the dancing! Everything about it made me wish I was twirling around the stage!
As I sit here, sipping my warming tea, gazing out over the romantic, snow-kissed landscape, I'm filled with so much excitement for my adventures here in Prague. It seems that every street corner is a surprise! I'm planning to visit all the historical sights tomorrow - Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, the Old Town Square... oh, I’m simply bursting with anticipation.
But before I do, I'm going to be exploring Prague’s ballet scene, checking out some local classes and performances, and perhaps even giving them some of my signature moves. After all, my mission is to spread the love of pink tutus all over the world - and what better place to do it than here?
Keep an eye out for my next post – I'm planning to explore some of Prague's most delightful boutiques for a bit of ballet-inspired shopping. I just know I'll find the perfect outfit to inspire my next dance.
Until next week, my dears, and remember… Stay tutu-tastic!
Love, Emma xoxo
