Pink Tutu Prague: A Whirlwind of Culture & Colour! (Post #518)
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday again, which means it's time for another exciting update from your favourite pink-tutu-clad globetrotter! This week, I've traded the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the enchanting cobblestone streets of Prague, a city so beautiful, it practically makes my heart do a pirouette!
Prague, a symphony of medieval architecture, charming bridges, and vibrant squares, has swept me off my feet, much like the most elegant prince charming ever could. Just yesterday, I arrived at Prague’s magnificent Central Station, a grandiose monument of grand halls and echoing voices. I practically skipped with excitement, clutching my pink satin luggage like a prized possession. Speaking of pink, oh, how the city's pastel facades make my ballerina soul soar!
As always, I had to kick things off with some much-needed tutu shopping! It's not every day I get to find fabulous feathered and sequined treasures amidst a fairytale setting. Let’s just say my suitcase is getting very full! You can trust that there’s at least one pink tutu for every outfit, because darling, we all need a little whimsy in our lives!
And oh my goodness, the ballet scene here! You wouldn’t believe the incredible performances I’ve already witnessed. Just the other day, I watched a rendition of Swan Lake at the National Theatre that made my head spin! The ballerinas' grace and strength was simply breathtaking!
Oh, the National Theatre! You wouldn’t believe its magnificent façade, with its statues of figures representing the arts. The grandeur alone could inspire an entire ballet, and as I sit here sipping my hot chocolate in a charming café across the street, I can almost feel the magic swirling around me.
Now, as much as I adore the big stage productions, I am equally smitten with Prague’s smaller performances. I've been fortunate to discover the hidden gems - intimate, beautifully lit street shows performed in the shadows of enchanting architecture. Just imagine, a violin solo weaving through the sounds of the city, a delicate waltz amidst the whispering trees... It's magical!
My journey in Prague has been more than just ballets and tutus, of course. I’ve already wandered through the Charles Bridge, admiring its statues and soaking in the captivating cityscape. The Vltava River flows under the bridge like a ribbon of silver, a serene beauty that compliments Prague’s majestic buildings. And the Prague Castle, perched high on the hill, its silhouette against the cloudy sky – it truly seems like something straight out of a fairytale!
Speaking of fairytale, can we talk about the food? I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I may be addicted to Czech dumplings! They’re so light and fluffy, the perfect compliment to hearty goulash and juicy roast duck. Every meal feels like a culinary dance!
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without a visit to the Old Town Square! The iconic Astronomical Clock, with its colourful figures and whimsical dance, is captivating in its charm.
But more than just clockwork wonders, it’s the people who make Prague truly magical. From the friendly shopkeepers with their warm smiles to the artists displaying their works along the cobblestone streets, it's evident that passion and creativity flow through the very heart of this city. And the children! I’ve met so many delightful little ones here, some even wearing their own pink tutus!
My journey here is far from over, and I have so much more to discover. More ballet performances, more historical marvels, more culinary delights, and more pink tutus to inspire! Stay tuned next week for my adventures as I uncover more of Prague’s magical secrets, and don’t forget, my dears, life is a beautiful performance, so step into your pink tutu and twirl your way through it!
Until next week!
Love,
Emma x

Bonus:
In addition to my usual blog post, I thought I'd give you a sneak peek into my travel diary from today, 30th of March, 2005.
Travel Diary: Prague, 30th March 2005
- Morning: Arriving in Prague felt like stepping into a fairytale. The city’s charm instantly captivated me. After settling into my cozy hotel room, I decided to explore the charming streets and find the perfect pink tutu for tonight’s performance.
- Afternoon: Found a gorgeous Parisian-inspired boutique hidden on a quiet side street. It was full of frills and feathers and, thankfully, a generous selection of stunning pink tutus! After trying on about a dozen different ones, I settled on a gorgeous, billowing creation adorned with delicate tulle and pink feathers - perfect for a Prague evening!
- Evening: Off to the National Theatre for my first Prague ballet performance - a rendition of the timeless classic Swan Lake. The ballerinas were exquisite! Their moves were so graceful, fluid, and elegant! I could almost see the emotions woven into their every step, a breathtaking mix of power and tenderness! It was almost like magic.
- Night: Dinner at a cozy traditional restaurant in the Old Town Square. I devoured delicious dumplings with goulash and felt my heart filled with joy as I watched the illuminated astronomical clock tell its enchanting tale at the stroke of midnight. Prague is truly a city of dreams!
To be continued...
