Pink Tutu Prague - Post #528 - Wednesday 8th June 2005

Bonjour, my lovely Pink Tutu followers! I'm writing to you from the most enchanting city in the world, Prague, where even the cobbled streets feel like a set from a fairytale ballet. And let me tell you, there's not a single moment I haven't felt like a real-life princess!

The journey from Derbyshire to Prague was a dream! I opted for the romance of a sleeper train, snuggling down in my favourite pink-trimmed travel set and dreaming of the adventures to come. (A bit like Sleeping Beauty, don't you think? Only I wake up in a stunning European city, not a forest!)

Arriving in Prague felt like stepping into a ballet performance itself - the ornate architecture, the echoing bells, the river running through the city... itā€™s practically an operetta come to life! My first stop, of course, was for a well-deserved pink latte, overlooking the Vltava river. As I sipped my drink, I spotted a shop window bursting with tutus! I simply couldn't resist a quick peek ā€“ it was a little shop called 'Ballerinaā€™s Delight' that sold vintage tutus and ballet costumes! I left with a gorgeous lilac and silver tutu (perfect for the elegant mood of this city) and a vintage-inspired ballet bag adorned with delicate rose embroidery.

Speaking of delicate details, I also found some darling ballet shoes at a quirky little shop called 'Ballet Dreams'. They had these amazing pastel pink pointe shoes, which felt absolutely magical. Of course, I had to try them on and even twirl for a bit in front of the mirror - I've been practising en pointe in my hotel room ever since! (Don't worry, dear neighbours, my pointe work is rather soft and silent... mostly because my hotel room is as small as a shoebox, but that's a different story entirely!).

On my first evening, I went to see a show called 'Cinderella at the Opera' at the National Theatre. Let me just say, it was absolutely magnificent! The theatre is like a time capsule from a bygone era ā€“ think grand staircases, velvet drapes, and glittering chandeliers. Cinderella looked dazzling in her pale blue, tulle gown (which felt very princess-y!) while her step-mother looked decidedly evil, but beautifully so. You can see how her outfits are quite 'fashionablyā€™ malicious with their black accents, lace trims, and pointy hats.

I even found time to attend a ballet class at the 'Dance Academy Prague', just off Old Town Square. The studio had these magnificent wood floors and big windows overlooking the rooftops - it was utterly inspiring! And while the class itself was quite challenging (those grand jetƩs aren't easy to pull off!), it was amazing to connect with other ballet enthusiasts.

I felt truly empowered being in a room full of passionate women all moving with grace and strength. We weren't just dancers; we were warriors!

In fact, it got me thinking: why not get the entire city wearing pink tutus? After all, Iā€™m pretty sure everyone looks lovely in pink! Maybe Iā€™ll set up a little Tutu-tique in the Old Town Square. Just imagine ā€“ a pop-up boutique full of all sorts of gorgeous tutus! From vibrant hot pinks to gentle pale pastels, thereā€™d be a perfect pink tutu for every ballerina, princess, and whimsical woman out there. It could be called ā€œPink Tutu Pragueā€!

And speaking of "Pink Tutu Prague," did I mention I found the most charming vintage pink tutu shop while strolling through the Jewish Quarter? I fell head-over-heels in love with a beautiful pastel pink tutu adorned with delicate silver sequins ā€“ just imagine waltzing across the Charles Bridge in it! I think it might just be the perfect tutu for my evening performances (ahem, those will be announced very soon!).

I canā€™t leave Prague without mentioning the deliciousness of Czech cuisine. Imagine rich, savory goulash, fluffy dumplings, and the best beer I've ever had ā€“ I feel like my stomach is on a holiday! And who could forget the Czech pastries ā€“ sweet, flaky, and with more pink frosting than you can imagine!

And of course, no blog post from Prague would be complete without a fashion update! The city is a fashion lover's paradise ā€“ full of charming vintage boutiques and designer shops overflowing with gorgeous gowns and glamorous outfits. I snagged a stunning cherry-red dress that would be perfect for an evening performance under the city's famous Astronomical Clock ā€“ what do you think?

Prague has captivated me completely. This magical city seems to pulse with artistry and beauty at every turn. It's been a dream come true, and I canā€™t wait to share all the beauty of my performances with you in the coming weeks. But for now, I'm off to explore some of Pragueā€™s charming backstreets in search of the most dazzling vintage pink tutus I can find!

Keep your tutus pink, darling readers, and see you next Wednesday!

Lots of love,

Emma xx

P.S. Did I mention Iā€™m going to be teaching a ā€œPink Tutu Waltzā€ class on Saturday afternoon? Everyone is welcome, no experience necessary, just bring your biggest smile and love for pink! You can find the details on my Instagram, Pink Tutu Prague!
