Prague Diaries - Post 553: Twirling through the Czech Capital

Hello my darling dears! It’s Wednesday, and you know what that means… another Prague post from yours truly, your favourite pink-tutu-clad globetrotter! This week’s adventure has taken me from the cobbled streets of Old Town to the exquisite splendour of the National Theatre, with a hefty dose of shopping and cake along the way. Buckle up, darling, because it’s going to be a pink-tastic ride!

As usual, I’ve been documenting my adventures through the magical lens of my Instagram, @PinkTutuEmma, but there's so much to tell, a blog post is a necessity! So, settle in with your favourite cuppa (I’m enjoying a divine peppermint tea with a dash of honey – très chic, wouldn’t you agree?) and let me whisk you away to the wonderous world of Prague…

Travel Tales

Remember how I mentioned I’d been embracing my inner equestrian recently? Well, my journey to Prague began with the most whimsical train ride, one where I shared a carriage with a delightful gentleman who sported a rather dashing trilby hat! And of course, no travel is complete without my trusty pink travel case filled to the brim with my signature pink tulle (you know, just in case a tutu opportunity presents itself… and trust me, they always do!).

Fashion Forward

The Prague shopping scene is like a ballet performance itself - a beautiful, choreographed dance of vibrant colours and tantalising fabrics. I found the most adorable pink handbag (it practically whispers, "buy me!" with its intricate beadwork and playful charm) at a vintage boutique tucked away in a back street. And then there’s the abundance of tulle. It was practically begging me to turn it into a new tutu creation! You know I simply can't resist a good shopping spree, and this one had me utterly enraptured!

Tutu Tuesdays & Ballet Buzz

Now, if you know me, you know that a visit to Prague isn't complete without experiencing its vibrant theatre scene. My week has been peppered with incredible performances, each one leaving me breathless. From the exquisite choreography at the National Theatre, where I found myself transported to a realm of elegance and artistry, to the lively, interactive dance-offs in the streets - Prague truly has a special magic that sets it apart.

You see, dear readers, I’ve got this incredible, and quite possibly, slightly strange fascination with all things tutu. Did you know that the first known tutu appeared on stage in the late 18th century? And imagine - that humble beginning gave birth to what is today a symbol of elegance, beauty and artistic freedom.

As always, I spent the Tuesday afternoon of my trip at the most delightful ballet studio in the city, which sits tucked away just behind the Astronomical Clock. It's a haven of pink and tutus, filled with a symphony of music, laughter, and pirouettes. What can I say, I love the way a tutu makes me feel – powerful, feminine and ready to embrace the world with a joyful twirl!

Czech Delights

No trip to Prague is complete without sampling the delicious local cuisine. I fell head over heels for their traditional gingerbread, with its warm spices and crumbly texture – divine! I also tried a beautifully presented pastry that resembled a delicate rose. And I dare not forget the delightful, brightly coloured Czech candies (my absolute weakness – how can one resist those vibrantly coloured sugared almonds?) There's something truly magical about enjoying these delicious treats in a city so rich with history and culture.

Finding Pink in Every Corner

But it wasn't just about food and shopping, you know. I’ve been soaking in the history of Prague. From the imposing Prague Castle, with its breathtaking views, to the narrow cobblestone streets of Old Town, I found pink whispers everywhere. Even the grand architecture seems to be awash with the hues of rose and flamingo. Honestly, darling, it's practically impossible to resist snapping photos, with its charming atmosphere and captivating beauty. The city's vibrant atmosphere, steeped in history and punctuated by the delightful click-clack of my heels as I walk its winding streets, is pure inspiration for this fashion-obsessed ballerina.

Next Week's Adventures

This weekend I'm planning to explore the magical fairytale setting of Kutná Hora, about an hour’s train ride outside the city. I’ve heard it’s bursting with Gothic architecture, including a magnificent bone chapel - yes, darling, you heard that right! Now I’ve got my trusty tutu packed (just in case I spot a bone-dancing opportunity!), so join me next week for more Prague adventures.

Until next time, my dears, remember: it’s always a good day for a tutu.

Much love and twirls,

Emma
