Prague, Darling! My Tutu-filled Christmas Adventure (Blog Post #556)
Wednesday 21st December 2005
Oh, hello there, dearies! Emma here, your resident pink tutu aficionado, and today's post is coming to you live from the heart of Prague. I'm finally here, after a magical journey across Europe on the train (with a quick detour to Vienna for a spot of tutu shopping - more on that later!) and let me tell you, this city is everything I ever dreamt of! It's like a fairytale come to life!
Now, let's get straight to the point, shall we? This city is positively overflowing with incredible architectural beauty, quaint cafes brimming with aroma of hot chocolate, and oh-so-charming cobbled streets just begging to be explored by a pink-tutu wearing adventurer. (Speaking of adventurers, you won't believe the incredible ride I took on a pony across the Charles Bridge! Picture me, my pink tutu billowing in the crisp December breeze, giggling like a schoolgirl as I admire the iconic views!)
But Prague, darlings, is more than just picture postcard pretty, it's steeped in history. I've spent the past few days delving into its fascinating past, wandering through the Old Town Square and marveling at the astronomical clock (did you know that Prague actually boasts the oldest astronomical clock in the world? I'm absolutely tickled pink!). It's mind-boggling to think of the stories that have unfolded here over centuries.
And what would a trip to Prague be without a visit to the National Theatre? Oh my, it's truly a sight to behold! It's the most exquisite example of Neo-Renaissance architecture - grand and glorious and everything I dream of! And they are staging a fabulous production of Tchaikovskyās The Nutcracker tonight - Iāve heard rave reviews about the artistry and the dancersā sheer brilliance. You know, I was considering putting on my special silver tutu with the delicate snowflakes for the occasion, but my new velvet pink creation - inspired by the iconic Baroque interiors of Prague Castle - feels absolutely perfect for this enchanting evening!
Now, on to the all-important topic of fashion! My little fashionista heart is in absolute overdrive. The shops are a dream come true ā a kaleidoscope of colours, textures and styles just waiting to be devoured. The best find so far? A delightful little boutique nestled in the Old Town Square. The lady who owns it, a lovely lady with bright-blue eyes and an infectious smile, had the most fabulous array of vintage pieces. You'll be seeing that in my next post - but letās just say itās perfect for my āPink Christmasā look!
Of course, no trip to a city with a history as rich as Prague's would be complete without immersing myself in the local ballet scene. I've heard tales of some exquisite performances at the National Theatre, and my friend, Natalia (an accomplished ballerina and a fellow pink-tutu devotee) sent me the programme - I'm so excited for tonight! I am particularly drawn to the idea of witnessing a ballet performance in such a historically significant place - it's like bridging the gap between the timeless world of ballet and the incredible history that is Prague.
I know youāre all desperate to hear more about the ballet performance, my gorgeous readers! But honestly, the only thing more exhilarating than watching graceful ballerinas in their exquisitely crafted tutus is writing to you about it! So keep your eyes peeled for my next post! You can find it next Wednesday on my beloved www.pink-tutu.com.
Until then, darling friends, stay fabulous, keep twirling, and don't forget to dream in pink!
Much love, Emma xx
P.S. Iām just bursting with excitement, so I need to add a few extra details that popped into my mind! I love my little travels, and especially when I'm traveling by train - itās such a wonderful way to soak up the beauty of the world whizzing past. I've found a charming little tea room right near my hotel ā I plan to try it out for afternoon tea. This place has really gotten under my skin, and I can already imagine all sorts of posts coming from my visit. Oh, I am utterly obsessed with its medieval feel and that iconic Charles Bridge (it makes such an excellent backdrop for photo opportunities, I must say!). The fairytale architecture and charming cafes are so, so, so dreamy! This is pure enchantment, darlings, and I canāt wait to share more. Stay tuned for my next blog, in which Iāll describe my evening at the ballet and detail the glorious velvet pink tutu I found! It is a divine work of art.
P.P.S Have I told you I'm absolutely smitten with the city's Christmas Markets? I simply cannot get enough of the twinkling lights, the delightful aromas of gingerbread and roasted chestnuts, and the sweet sound of carols echoing through the streets. And of course, a festive pink tutu would be the perfect touch to complete this charming experience, donāt you think? The city's charming Christmas Market is an explosion of colours and delights, much like the tutus that make my heart flutter!
And speaking of Christmas Market goodies, how could I forget the most adorable gingerbread houses? The sweet aroma wafting through the air is a siren call, begging me to sample their sugary delights. This Christmas Market has captured my heart completely!
