Prague: Pink Tutu Diaries - Post #563

Dearest readers,

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu adventure! This week, I've traded the rolling Derbyshire hills for the cobbled streets of Prague. It's always a delight to visit a new city, but there's something especially enchanting about this charming city, with its ancient castles and beautiful architecture.

The train journey here was a treat in itself. It's been years since I travelled by train across Europe, and it's always so romantic, especially in a plush first-class carriage. The scenery whizzing by, the delicious hot chocolate (always with marshmallows!), the leisurely pace of travel, it's like stepping back in time, but with a very comfy, very chic, very Pink Tutu twist.

Arriving in Prague, I couldn't resist taking a detour to admire the grand, Baroque-style National Theatre. Talk about picture-perfect! I must admit, my heart skipped a beat at the sheer scale and grandeur of it. Imagine the magic that has played out on this stage throughout history, from classical operas to ballet masterpieces, a beautiful testament to the arts! My tutu spun and swirled as I imagined the grace and drama unfolding on that magnificent stage.

But this time, I wasn't here for the theatre, not yet! This week's adventure is all about the magical, enchanting world of ... the horse! Yes, my dear readers, you heard me right. This city is overflowing with enchanting history and beautiful scenery, and what better way to explore it all than on a graceful, powerful steed?

Imagine: Cobbled streets giving way to winding lanes lined with colourful flower pots, a cool breeze lifting the golden mane of a majestic white horse as I gallop through the heart of Prague. It truly feels like I've stepped into a fairytale. The joy of the gentle sway of the horse beneath me, the gentle clack of his hooves on the stones, and the feel of the breeze in my hair, as I take in the magnificent skyline of the city is pure, unadulterated happiness!

The city itself is an absolute delight. I've lost myself in its quaint cafes, marvelled at the 14th-century Old Town Square and even found a tiny, delightful antique shop overflowing with vintage hats and accessories. I found a truly exquisite vintage hatbox filled with feathered headbands, it’s on its way back with me. I simply cannot leave Prague without it!

Speaking of vintage finds, the antique shops have been a treasure trove for tutu inspiration! It's truly amazing the intricate details that past artisans put into these beautiful costumes. Imagine those incredible tutus, hand-stitched with painstaking detail. It’s a delicate and beautiful art form.

Every cobblestone street and corner brings its own story. I found a little street vendor selling vintage ribbons in a kaleidoscope of colours – pinks, greens, golds. You'd think I had found a lost fairyland. I knew instantly what I had to do! The ribbon will add a touch of that enchanting Prague spirit to a new tutu design I’m sketching - watch this space, darling!

This adventure in Prague hasn't been just about shopping and sightseeing. There's nothing quite like indulging in a bit of culture and art, and this city certainly doesn’t disappoint. This week, my visit to the Prague National Theatre was not just about the stunning architecture, it was about experiencing something extraordinary.

I must tell you, the highlight of my Prague journey, so far, has been seeing an incredible production of “Sleeping Beauty”, presented by the Prague National Theatre. The ballerina's leaps were graceful and powerful, her performance so evocative and moving. The exquisite costumes and sets truly took my breath away. There is nothing quite like witnessing the sheer talent and artistry of these gifted performers on stage, sharing the passion for the art of ballet with thousands of spectators. It makes my heart truly sing!

Of course, no ballet experience is complete without a post-performance treat! A little stroll through the city, stopping to admire the luminous night sky, then heading back to my hotel, and finally, a delectable bite of chocolate from my little bag (a tradition that helps me indulge and recover from a ballet overload, all while ensuring I maintain my ballerina figure, a necessity for any travelling pink tutu fan! Just a small little treat for the travelling dancer.

Don’t you feel a surge of joy, dear reader, when you experience those moments of magic? It’s that same joy that fuels my every adventure. I'll be sharing more of my Prague stories next Wednesday! Until then, let’s all embrace the magic of dance, the wonder of travelling and of course… the undeniable, joyous allure of the pink tutu!

Lots of love and tutu-filled dreams, Emma.
