Prague: A Pink Tutu Odyssey (Blog Post #565)

Darlings!

The sun is shining on Prague, casting a rosy glow on the cobbled streets and making even the dullest buildings shimmer. It's a magical place, full of history, art, and a certain Parisian je ne sais quoi. Which, naturally, makes it perfect for a pink tutu-clad adventurer like myself.

This is my first trip to Prague, and it's already exceeding all expectations. I must tell you about the journey itself, which started with a charming ride on a horse-drawn carriage to the train station. The gentle clip-clop of hooves and the soft crunch of wheels on gravel are the perfect accompaniment to a morning cuppa. The horses, I’m sure you'll be relieved to know, were wearing chic little hats – because it's just not chic to have a hat-less horse, darling, even in a picturesque setting like Derbyshire.

Then, it was onto the Eurostar. And what better outfit for a luxurious journey than my bespoke pink silk tutu, trimmed with glittering diamantés? Naturally, the other passengers were awestruck, whispering admiringly and discreetly reaching for their cameras – and who can blame them? It wouldn’t be a pink tutu outing without a touch of sartorial drama.

As for the train ride itself – it's like being transported to another world! The journey, just over 8 hours, flew by in a blur of beautiful scenery and charming chatter. I must confess I felt a slight pang of homesickness when we reached the Czech border, missing my little flat in the countryside. But, even missing Derbyshire's green fields, it’s hard to be downhearted when you’re being greeted by such glorious architecture.

Speaking of glorious architecture, my first order of business in Prague was, of course, to seek out some of the most charming boutique stores in the city. I had my sights set on finding the perfect tutu for tonight's ballet show - a magnificent performance by the National Theatre's ballet company. (Yes, even on holiday, a tutu-wearing girl must be on point.)

Oh darling, it was a whirlwind! Boutique after boutique, from quaint hidden alleyways to glamorous Parisian-style boulevards – each shop more enticing than the last. And guess what? I found my perfect companion for the evening!

Imagine a billowing pink tutu, almost translucent, woven with the most delicate lace. It swirled around my ankles, perfectly complementing the ornate chandeliers and gothic arches of Prague's architecture. It felt almost...magical, don't you think? And for a touch of Prague magic, I bought a beautiful, hand-painted Czech crystal brooch to fasten to the side of my bodice.

And speaking of "magical," this evening's performance of Giselle is something I'll never forget! The stage, set in a fantastical forest with billowing foliage, the music that flowed around us like a powerful tide, the passionate dancing - it transported me to another world.

There’s nothing quite like watching dancers take flight. You know, in that fleeting moment when they spring off the ground and defy gravity - for that split-second, anything is possible.

It was utterly enchanting. As the curtain closed, the audience erupted into thunderous applause - and I couldn't help but do a little twirl myself. There’s nothing like shared magic, and there’s something truly beautiful in feeling connected to something greater than yourself.

I did, of course, meet some of the ballerinas afterwards. They were all so sweet and encouraging. It seems they loved my pink tutu. Who wouldn't, honestly? It's hard not to smile in the face of such fabulousness.

Tomorrow, I’m off to explore Prague's famous bridges, soak up the city's artistic charm and, of course, hunt for more fabulous clothes. I wouldn't miss a chance to rummage in this city’s fabulous vintage stores for more ballet-inspired treasures. You know how much I adore history! Did you know, my dear reader, that tutus originated with Marie Taglioni, the iconic ballerina, in 1832? She created the first ever Romantic tutu, a flowing creation designed for flight and artistry!

And, you know, as I stand here looking out over Prague, the twinkling lights of the city reflected in the Vltava river, I can’t help but think how incredibly lucky I am to be doing what I love. My journey through the world, through my pink tutu adventures, it's just begun.

And you, my lovely reader, join me on this voyage, for next week, I’m going to write all about Prague’s beautiful bridges! Can't wait to share!

P.S. Did I mention, that in honour of this magnificent trip, I’ve created a limited edition, "Prague Dreams" pink tutu. Made from shimmering pink silk, with sparkling Prague crystals, it’s simply divine. Just a little treat for you lovelies – you can get your own "Prague Dreams" tutu at my website www.pink-tutu.com, exclusively available next week.

Love and tutus,

Emma
