Pink Tutu Prague: Post #643
Wednesday 22nd August 2007
Darling readers,
Well, here I am, in the heart of Prague! It's truly a magical place, a real fairytale come to life. I could almost imagine being Cinderella waltzing around the cobblestone streets in my pink tulle gown. It's no surprise that the ballet in this city is phenomenal. They have the most incredible ballet school in Europe – it's housed in a magnificent baroque building. I practically skipped through the doors to sign up for a masterclass! Just imagine – I'm learning the steps right from the legends. It was like a dream come true! Oh, but before we dive into the dancing, let's have a proper "Prague-a-thon", shall we? I'm a proper "Pink Tutu Traveller", and it's a rule that when I arrive in a new place, I have to dive straight in and experience everything. I know – such a tough job!
A Touch of Prague's Magic:
Imagine, darling readers, waking up to the scent of warm bread, freshly brewed coffee and, of course, a beautiful view of Prague's skyline from my darling hotel. This charming hotel in Old Town Square is a delight, tucked away behind the bustle, with just the right touch of Old World charm and luxurious comfort. You can almost imagine the waltz tunes of Mozart and Beethoven swirling through the corridors. It feels like stepping back in time! My morning started with a delicious Czech breakfast (lots of fresh fruit, yoghurt, and pastries!). This, of course, fuelled me up for my first day of exploration. I am already captivated by Prague's rich history – the medieval castles, the gothic cathedrals, and those charming winding cobblestone lanes.
Pink-ing Prague
Speaking of colour, the Old Town Square was a sight to behold, it practically screamed "pink" from the rooftops! Seriously, just walking through the Old Town Square was enough to fill my wardrobe inspiration! I picked up the cutest little pink satin clutch and the most exquisite vintage brooch, a tiny, sparkling pink flamingo – perfect for a ballet dress! There are so many independent boutiques brimming with artistic flair, and of course, the market stalls are always bursting with colour and vibrancy! One even had a collection of tutus!
Taking the "Tutu Express"
To truly immerse myself in this magical city, I just had to take a journey on the historic "Tutu Express"! Okay, darling, so it isn’t a real train. But, Prague’s charming trams are truly like travelling on a time machine – these gorgeous old-fashioned trams are practically floating around on their tracks, whispering secrets of a bygone era! I love trams – they offer a different perspective, giving a true taste of local life and all its bustling charm! The colours of Prague are simply stunning – the terracotta roofs, the warm golden tones of the stone buildings, and even the red of the old brickwork... a perfect backdrop for a pink tutu.
The Heartbeat of a Ballet Soul:
After my tramway tour, I was back at the beautiful building of the ballet school, feeling like I had just walked onto the set of a ballet movie! I had the most exhilarating ballet class this morning – the teacher was just the most wonderful, elegant, and inspiring lady! The other students were a mix of seasoned professionals and enthusiastic amateurs like myself. But every one of them shared that unwavering passion, that infectious love for ballet. We practiced some classic steps, and then the most breathtaking sequence of fouettés - the perfect combination of power and grace! I felt so incredibly alive, so energised. That's what ballet does to you, it brings your soul to life!
Prague’s Ballet Whispers:
Tonight was the night for the National Theatre Ballet's grand performance – an incredible staging of Sleeping Beauty, set on a vast stage! It's hard to describe, darling, it’s almost impossible to do the ballet justice in words, but every graceful movement, every beautifully woven sequence felt absolutely breathtaking! I had to stifle a squeal as the choreography and costumes brought the classic tale to life in such a dazzling way! My favourite, of course, was the lead ballerina’s magnificent, billowing pink tutu! Oh, the artistry! I had to restrain myself from reaching for my little sketch book – which is always tucked away in my pink ballet bag - and trying to capture it all! What a wonderful night, filled with beauty, magic, and dreams!
A Dress-to-Impress Mission:
Tomorrow’s plan? Shopping! Prague has some of the most fabulous boutiques I’ve ever seen! I must find some more pink treasures – a perfect dress for tonight’s Sleeping Beauty after party and maybe, a new, fluffy pink tutu, because darling, life is always a little more magical in a pink tutu. I can't wait to see what other sartorial wonders this beautiful city holds! Oh, and who knows, I might just run into a ballet-loving Prince Charming! Wouldn’t that be a story for the ages! Don’t worry, darling readers, I’ll share every adventure! Until next week!
XOXO,
Emma.
