Prague, My Pink Tutu Dreams Are Coming True! 🩰💕

Post #656: Wednesday, 21st November 2007

Hello my darling tutulettes! It’s Emma, your favourite pink tutu wearing ballerina blogger, reporting live from Prague! It feels like a lifetime ago since I was prancing about Derbyshire, teaching ballet classes and performing for the locals, dreaming of bigger and better stages. Now, here I am, nestled amongst the cobbled streets and grand architecture of Prague, with a hot chocolate in hand and a pink tutu (naturally) ready to go!

This trip to Prague was no accident, my darlings. My dear friend Olivia, a fellow tutu enthusiast and dancer extraordinaire, got a prestigious ballet scholarship here. You know I couldn’t let her take on this fabulous opportunity alone, could I? Plus, I've always dreamed of seeing the legendary National Theatre in Prague, famous for its breathtaking architecture and, of course, its fabulous ballet productions!

A Pony-Powered Journey and A Tutu Twist on Travel

We travelled here from Derbyshire on a lovely long train journey. It's the most charming way to see the continent! I squeezed into my pink velvet dress with a deliciously-soft, powder pink, fluffy tulle tutu that just begged to be twirled and danced in. The train itself felt like a romantic carriage, with elegant wood and plush seats. And the landscapes, ah, the landscapes! From verdant fields to snow-capped mountains, it was an absolutely mesmerising ballet of nature, just like the ones we were travelling to witness!

Of course, no adventure is complete without a sparkly pink touch! We couldn't resist stopping at a quaint horse riding farm just before reaching Prague. Picture this: two pink tutus swirling through fields of sunflowers, followed by a happy, clop-clopping pony. Yes, I had to have a photo with the pony wearing my signature shade of pink (we used my little spare ribbon, it was the cutest thing!)! And you just KNOW this picture will be adorning my "Emma and Pony" gallery on www.pink-tutu.com as soon as we get home. 😉

Ballet Dreams & A Feast for the Senses

Prague is positively overflowing with history and romance! The air here is electric with artistry and creative energy. This city, with its intricate architecture and vibrant atmosphere, is a dancer's dream! My first stop (after a mandatory detour to a fabulously pink confectionary shop - more on that later!), was the National Theatre itself. Let me tell you, it’s every bit as breathtaking as I imagined! We took a guided tour to admire the lavish interior and discover stories of its history, especially the enchanting tales about famous ballerinas that once graced its stage. My, oh my! It made my tutu tingle just thinking about them!

We went to the ballet performance that night, and my darling tutulettes, you’ve never witnessed such absolute magic! The entire evening was pure perfection. From the moment the curtain lifted to the very last curtain call, I was lost in a world of graceful movements and heartfelt emotion. The dancers were phenomenal! I even got a peek backstage afterward – a little sneak peak at the life of a ballerina!

A Wardrobe Bonanza: Tutu-ific Shopping Adventures

Oh, Prague, you have my heart! Not just for the beautiful buildings and breathtaking ballet but for the amazing shops as well! Shopping here has been a symphony for the senses! There are stores around every corner overflowing with everything from exquisite lace and intricate brocades to the most divine tutu fabrics! (My pockets, however, are getting a little thinner by the minute, I can’t deny that!) I have a soft spot for the little independent boutiques tucked away on quaint alleyways, where I find hidden gems like handmade ballet shoes (pink, of course!) and whimsical hand-painted porcelain dolls, adorned in - you guessed it! – delicate pink tutus! I even stumbled upon a fabric store brimming with gorgeous satin, velvet, and chiffons that are practically begging to be transformed into tutus! Just you wait for the magnificent designs I have in store, tutulettes!

A Feast Fit for a Tutu Queen

Even my favourite hobby – shopping – has to take a backseat to the fabulous local cuisine! This trip wouldn’t be complete without sampling some of Prague's delicious delicacies, right? Oh my darling tutulettes, Prague really knows how to treat its ballerinas well! The pastries are practically begging to be devoured, with layers upon layers of flakey pastry, filled with creamy, sweet treats, each morsel exploding with sugary delight! I’m not one to usually overindulge, but I just can't resist! Luckily, ballet keeps my legs strong and allows me to indulge in treats without a guilty conscience.

A Pink Tutu Farewell

And that's my lovely tutulettes, Prague has truly been a whirlwind of culture, fashion, and all things pink and fluffy. It's a city I'll be dreaming about for years to come. My inspiration, my heart, and, naturally, my wardrobe are overflowing. I'll be back, darling tutulettes, I know I will. Until next week's post, don’t forget to dance, sparkle and, of course, spread the love of pink tutus everywhere you go!

Until then, remember...

Tutus are Forever!

💖Emma
