Pink Tutu Prague - Post #665: A Tutu-filled Trip to the Czech Capital!

Bonjour mes chérie! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu enthusiast, and this week, we're waltzing our way through Prague, the city of a hundred spires and, dare I say, a thousand delightful tutus! (Okay, maybe not a thousand, but I've spotted some lovely ones!)

This magical trip to the Czech Republic is all thanks to the lovely people of Derbyshire who embraced my "Ballet for a Brighter Tomorrow" performance last week. Those tickets were flying faster than a pirouette, and the applause? Let's just say, it was as powerful as a grand jeté! That's how we, the pink tutu posse, get to explore the world, one beautiful city at a time.

And Prague? Well, Prague is a veritable ballet dreamland. From the moment I stepped off the train, the cobblestone streets felt like a grand stage, ready for a dramatic, waltzing entrance. The old town square, oh my goodness, it was like a scene from Swan Lake! Those charming buildings, their stories etched in time, felt like graceful, old ballerinas whispering tales of grandeur.

But this isn't just a romantic ballet-themed escape - Prague is also a shopper's paradise! It's all about the vintage treasures, the chic boutiques, and those little trinket shops that hide like forgotten waltzes. I must admit, I have already discovered some beautiful pink accessories - a delicate feathered headpiece and a stunning velvet scarf. They practically begged me to take them home!

Today's post, however, is all about ballet in Prague! I'm so thrilled to share my adventures with you:

From Ballet History to Tutu Chic - A Day in Prague

After a breakfast of delicious poppy seed cake (a delightful, crumbly experience, I highly recommend!), I decided to explore Prague's rich ballet history. Did you know Prague has a stunning opera house, the Estates Theatre, which even Mozart himself graced with his presence? I found myself standing in awe of this historic venue, picturing Mozart's elegant compositions swirling around me.

Pink Tutu in the Czech National Theatre

The afternoon was dedicated to a ballet masterpiece - a performance at the exquisite Czech National Theatre! Oh, the costumes, the choreography, and the passion! My little pink tutu might have been tucked away, but I was certainly feeling the inspiration. The graceful leaps and breathtaking adagios left me spellbound! It was like watching a dream unfold on stage.

Ballet Class in the Heart of Prague

To finish the day, I popped into a beautiful dance studio tucked away in a side street. It felt as if I had stumbled into a secret ballet world, with its mirrored walls and soft, worn wooden floors. It was time for a spot of ballet barre, and, well, it turns out Prague's dancers are as graceful as swans! The instructors were so welcoming, and I found myself falling in love with the rhythm of the waltz and the beautiful Czech ballet style.

Pink Tutu-tastic Shopping Finds!

Oh, and of course, there were a few shopping detours along the way. Who could resist the allure of the old market stalls filled with colourful, beaded earrings and intricate antique trinkets? The charming boutiques lining the streets yielded a stunning velvet hat - perfect for my next performance, wouldn't you say? And for those ballet enthusiasts, Prague is a wonderland for tutu history! I found the most exquisite vintage tutus, shimmering in a thousand shades of pink. You'll have to forgive me if I succumbed to a little impulse purchase or two...

A Tutu-ful Farewell to Prague

Prague has stolen my heart. The city is filled with fairytale charm, a ballet of history, a waltz of artistry, and a captivating blend of modern flair. It's truly a city that sets the soul alight. Now, it's time for me to embrace the cobbled streets one last time, with a twinkle in my eye and a pink tutu bouncing with me! And I'm already planning my next grand adventure, so stay tuned, my dears! I'll keep you posted, as always, on the Pink Tutu blog.

Love,

Emma

P.S. If you are in Prague, I highly recommend exploring the Old Town Square at night. The buildings are lit up beautifully, and there’s a real sense of magic in the air. And of course, don't forget to check out the ballet schedule at the Czech National Theatre, you might even see me there, with a new tutu of course! 😉
