Post Number 670: Prague – A Whirl of Pink and History!
Hello my darling readers! Emma here, your tutu-loving guide to all things frilly and fabulous! This week, I'm whisking you all off to the heart of Europe, to the enchanting city of Prague!
The train journey from Derbyshire was pure bliss - think cosy compartments, steamy mugs of tea, and views that changed from rolling English countryside to snow-capped peaks in the blink of an eye. And of course, no train journey is complete without my trusty pink tutu! I don't even need to change, my dear readers - the train carriage becomes my stage, and I pirouette down the aisle as we rattle through the countryside!
Once I arrived in Prague, I was captivated. The city is a stunning mix of medieval architecture, charming cobblestone streets, and the most vibrant energy. My little heart skipped a beat when I saw Prague Castle! The whole city felt like a grand, historical stage setting – perfect for my latest Tutu Adventure.
A Pink Tutu Through PragueMy mission was to inject some pink and tutus into Prague! After all, what’s a girl to do but twirl amongst such a whimsical setting? I spent the day wandering the Old Town Square, which is positively teeming with historical charm! My pink tulle skirt caught the sun, like a perfect little spotlight! And when the Charles Bridge unfolded before me, with its beautiful sculptures and view of the city below, I just knew I had to pose in a majestic pirouette for a photo. I can’t imagine a more photogenic spot. It made me think of a scene straight out of Swan Lake!
A Royal BallerinaBut let's talk fashion! One of my absolute favourite stops was the "Pink Flamingo" boutique. It was practically made for a ballerina with a penchant for all things frilly and glamorous. They had rows and rows of glorious dresses, glittery tops, and the most delightful jewellery. I found a delicate pink necklace with a swan charm that I simply had to have – it perfectly complements my pink tutu! And you know what? I'm wearing it to the ballet later tonight – the perfect pink accessory!
A Night at the OperaThis evening, we're seeing “Don Giovanni” at the beautiful National Theatre. I adore the combination of opera and ballet – so dramatic, passionate, and elegant! Opera is my go-to activity in any city, it allows me to explore the dramatic artform of movement and dance. I always try to find the time to see a performance when I’m away. And this theatre? I love it – built right on the edge of the Vltava River! The location adds to the magic, like a theatre built for a fairytale!
It was a dream come true to have this opportunity to explore Prague's world-class ballet scene. And if the opera is half as magnificent as this city itself, it's sure to be a night I won't soon forget!
Ballet at the Prague State OperaLater in the week, I went to the National Theatre and sat with a pink feather boa and a diamond studded tiara on the edge of my seat watching Tchaikovsky’s “Sleeping Beauty”. I'd only been dancing en pointe for 10 years but ballet is such a magical art, to me. My love for ballet was almost a physical love. I could actually taste the tulle, smell the sweat of the dancers and feel the thrill in my bones when a ballerina pulled off the perfect arabesque.
Ballet on the StreetsPrague has a vibrant street performance culture - and even those dancers on the street had so much grace and artistry. My favourite spot to watch was a bustling area near the Prague Astronomical Clock – a perfect blend of modern-day flair and a dash of theatrical elegance. I even tried my hand at a little impromptu dancing – a playful whirl in the centre of the square with some fellow tourists!
A Parisian in Prague! Before heading back to Derbyshire, I did something daring… I bought myself a pair of heels for the first time in my life. You could say it's a Parisian touch to my wardrobe. They were a delicious blush colour, a shade that complements my pink tutu beautifully!
To me, Parisian style is a beautiful blend of classic elegance and edgy coolness. And when you mix a pinch of whimsy and a generous helping of pink tutus into the mix, it’s simply fabulous!
To be continued…So, there you have it – a glimpse into my whirlwind tour of Prague, my dear readers! This trip truly solidified my belief that a little pink and a touch of tutu can make even the most mundane experiences truly spectacular. Until next week! Don't forget to check in on my website, www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday for a fresh dose of tutus, travel and fashion! And who knows, you might even see me rocking my new Parisian heels on my Instagram!
