Prague - Ballet, Tutus, and A Pink Paradise! (Post #673)

Bonjour mes chéries!

It’s Wednesday, and that means it’s time for a new Prague post, hot off the press from yours truly, Emma! 💅 🩰 As the week winds down and you all begin to dream of tutu twirls and pink perfection, I’m settling in to my chic Prague apartment, with a cup of delicately floral tea and a freshly-baked raspberry macaron (don't worry, I haven't got a single crumb on my tutu!) and a smile as wide as a ballet barre.

This past week has been pure magic, an explosion of swirling skirts, captivating choreography, and delightful discoveries in the City of a Hundred Spires. The pink tutu, as you know, is my lifeblood, and I'm thrilled to report that it is certainly not in short supply here in Prague!

The air vibrates with a delicate blend of classical grandeur and whimsical charm. Think fairytale cobblestone streets lined with pastel-coloured buildings and cafes brimming with laughter, delicious pastries and the aroma of strong, dark coffee. ☕ This city, oh it really is the stuff of my dreams!

Now, let's talk ballet. Because the whole reason I came to this beautiful city was for something a little special... I couldn’t resist the opportunity to see the National Theatre Ballet Company perform in their pink-tastic production of “Sleeping Beauty”! And it was spectacular! Honestly, even a Derbyshire girl with a love for ballet and tutus like mine has to admit, the National Theatre in Prague is extra special! The building itself is an exquisite testament to historical architecture with its beautiful intricate design and incredible attention to detail - utterly captivating! It was practically begging to be explored! And what a way to see it all than during a stunning production like "Sleeping Beauty"? The performance was so powerful and emotive; the choreography a whirlwind of passion and grace; the costumes utterly breathtaking; and let’s not forget, that iconic pink tutu, it looked fabulous! 💖

The costumes were beyond gorgeous, a vibrant riot of color and meticulous craftsmanship. Each tutu was a masterpiece, with layers of delicate tulle shimmering under the stage lights. They whispered a story of magic and enchantment, mirroring the dreamy tales unfolding onstage. The leading ballerina, beautiful and elegant, seemed to float on air, her movements so expressive and technically flawless, that I felt tears in my eyes at the sheer artistry! 🩰😭

Speaking of stunning costumes, I've been doing a little sartorial exploration of my own. You know, when a girl is surrounded by historical inspiration and architecture like this, well, you simply HAVE to treat yourself to some lovely shopping! 🛍️ So, I headed to the heart of the city to indulge in the local treasures. The designer boutiques are fabulous - full of statement pieces, bold colours, and elegant details! It is pure indulgence! Oh, and there’s a shop here where they hand-make their own ballet tutus. I was in heaven. I think I actually bought enough pink tutus to make it through my entire 20s. 😅

But the true delight of my trip has been discovering the "secret" side of Prague - where ballet meets the streets and everyday life is an impromptu performance! Last weekend, I strolled through a delightful park in the Old Town, just enjoying the fresh air and the scent of cherry blossoms in the breeze. Suddenly, the park erupted into a scene of utter joy! It was an amateur ballet class! Groups of children and even some adults, in colourful tutus and tights, were dancing like no one was watching - they were actually incredible! Every single move, so graceful, so powerful, it was truly inspiring! The sunshine was dappling on their tulle skirts, and they were completely immersed in their craft - there were tears in my eyes! There was a little girl with the brightest, pinkest tutu - oh, I have to tell you it was my heart and my very soul. 😍 I even tried joining in, but let's just say I haven't had my tutu on since childhood! Still, my efforts earned a big, warm smile from one of the ballet teachers - that felt very special. ❤️

The day was absolutely perfect - the fresh spring air was crisp and cool, the air vibrated with laughter, and the warmth of the sunshine glowed through the pink of the many tutus fluttering around the park. It felt like the beginning of my fairytale in a city bursting with magic! 💫

And this is only the beginning of my Prague adventure! The pink tutu is packed for a jam-packed itinerary this week. There's a visit to a world-renowned Ballet School, which is rumored to have the most elegant ballet teacher in Prague. Naturally, I am going to be attempting a couple of ballet lessons in that fabulous pink tutu of mine! And just for the sake of experiencing some Prague night life, we're heading out to a ballet club. That's right - imagine the scene - dancers whirling to a vintage orchestra, and me and all my gorgeous tutus looking fab! It’s pink perfection to the absolute nth degree! 🩰🎶🥳

As my week winds down, it's been a dream come true exploring Prague’s artistic side. It has filled me with such joy - this city is bursting with creativity, laughter, and such an aura of romantic charm.

And so, with the echoes of “Sleeping Beauty” still dancing in my head, the scent of those delicious pastries filling my senses, and my tutu lovingly stored away for tomorrow's ballet lesson (no, not a ballet club tonight! Just an opera, this time...), I bid you adieu.

See you next week, darling!

P.S. I know what you are thinking: Is Emma a ballerina or a tutu model? (She may not be professional, but she's got the most stylish collection this side of the English Channel.) You’re going to want to keep checking in next week as I continue exploring Prague... It is pink perfection, and I want everyone to experience it! 🥰
