Pink Tutu Prague: A Whirlwind of Colour and Culture - Post 679
Wednesday 30th April 2008
Dearest readers!
It's Wednesday, and you know what that means - time for a new Pink Tutu Prague post! I'm still buzzing from my trip to the capital of the Czech Republic, a city overflowing with history, charm, and, of course, the perfect shade of pastel pink.
This week, I'm writing to you from my delightful hotel room, a whimsical haven that would make Marie Antoinette herself blush. It's all draped in lace and soft pink hues, and there's even a dainty porcelain tea set in the corner - pure perfection. My balcony overlooks a picturesque cobblestone square, alive with the sound of music and laughter.
Prague, you see, is a symphony for the senses. From the moment I stepped off the train (which, by the way, was an absolute dream, like something straight out of a Rococo painting, complete with velvet seats and elegant brass detailing), the city seduced me with its undeniable charm.
Speaking of journeys, this week has been a whirlwind of culture, beauty, and, naturally, tutus! I was lucky enough to attend a dazzling performance by the Prague Ballet company - a breath-taking display of artistry and grace. It's one of the highlights of my Prague experience, a spectacle that leaves you breathless, mesmerised, and utterly charmed.
Tutus in Prague:
Of course, no journey is complete without exploring the local shops! This time, I couldn't resist adding a new masterpiece to my ever-growing collection. I found the most exquisite vintage tutu tucked away in a charming antique shop on the edge of Old Town Square. It's a vision in pale blush pink, adorned with intricate lace and delicate beading, fit for a queen. I knew instantly it would be a showstopper!
I also found a little ballet shop brimming with the most beautiful dance shoes and accessories. Their collection of pointe shoes was truly breathtaking - everything a ballerina's heart could desire! I even treated myself to a pair of delicate pink satin ribbons, perfect for finishing off my latest costume creations.
Fashion Finds:
But Prague is not just about tutus - it's a fashion paradise for any sartorially inclined soul. I have spent hours browsing through vintage boutiques and independent shops, filling my bags with exquisite fabrics, glamorous vintage hats, and even a stunning pair of cream-coloured gloves. There’s just something magical about exploring these little treasures hidden in back alleys and forgotten corners. It’s a true testament to the city’s quirky character and vintage flair.
And speaking of fashion, Prague is awash with vibrant markets brimming with bohemian artistry, traditional craftsmanship, and, of course, those irresistible vintage finds. I had to snag a few colourful scarves, their rich silk weaving a story of their own. These will make my London street performances truly captivating, a burst of colour against the monochrome cityscape.
A Feast for the Senses:
I wouldn't be true to myself if I didn't mention the delectable culinary delights this city has to offer. I’ve sampled everything from creamy Czech goulash (a comforting classic!) to delicious chimney cakes with decadent toppings (a delightful sweet treat!). The aroma of roasted chestnuts and fresh pastries wafting through the cobblestone streets adds to the charm of Prague, tempting me at every corner with delicious scents and flavours.
I’m so grateful for this little slice of pink perfection in Prague! The vibrant energy of the city, its stunning architecture, and its artistic heritage truly captivated me. This is a place where history and modernity merge seamlessly, a city brimming with romance and a spirit of artistic expression. And with my pink tutu spinning on cobbled streets, the vibrant spirit of this magical city flows right through me, a little taste of a fairytale life, right here in Prague.
Stay tuned next week, darling readers! I'm going to explore the charming countryside of Czech Republic, discovering fairytale castles and quaint villages. Until then, keep dancing, keep sparkling, and don't forget your pink tutu!
Your ballerina from Derbyshire, Emma xo
