Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another instalment of your favourite pink-tutu-tastic blog! This week, I'm writing to you from the magical city of Prague! Honestly, it's just the most wonderful place! Everything is so beautifully quaint and picturesque. I mean, seriously, could the buildings be any more beautiful?!
As a ballet lover, I'm positively giddy! Imagine my delight at discovering this magnificent city is teeming with theatres, and there are SO many ballets on! You wouldn't believe the variety. I mean, Swan Lake and The Nutcracker - yes! But they've also got the most gorgeous original creations I've ever seen! I'm planning to see every single one – every single one – before I leave.
Oh, speaking of the most gorgeous things, guess what?! I just found the most amazing tutu shop tucked away down a tiny cobblestone street! Imagine – I'm talking about tiers and tiers of tulle in every shade imaginable. But what's truly exceptional is this exquisite hand-stitched, custom tutu with delicate, ivory embroidery and a pale, pastel pink tulle – you simply HAVE to see it! (Picture will be in tomorrow's post – I promise!) I can already see it perfectly – twirling under the golden glow of the stage lights in the National Theatre. Pure magic!
Of course, my love affair with Prague goes beyond just the ballets! I'm completely captivated by the whole city – its stunning architecture, its cobblestone streets, the enchanting cafes, the charm of the people! There's a delicious smell of pastry in the air, everywhere you go! And everyone seems so incredibly happy – which makes my heart happy too! Honestly, there's just such a positive vibe about Prague. And what do you do with a positive vibe? Well, you SHOP of course!
But let me back up for a minute. Getting here was such an adventure! This time, I opted for the train. The ride was absolutely beautiful, rolling past meadows ablaze with wildflowers, then crossing quaint little villages with their charming red-tiled roofs, it truly felt like I was travelling through a fairytale!
Now, let's talk fashion! This week I'm channeling the "Bohemian Chic" vibe in Prague! I'm rocking this amazing floor-length skirt that flows beautifully like a ballet skirt, but it's in this gorgeous, dusky rose pink, which totally makes it feel like a tutu! Oh, and of course, I paired it with my trusty, powder pink ballet flat (don't tell my mother, but I wore it to my last show!)
I'm loving the local artisans, too, finding beautiful handcrafted jewellery with gorgeous amethysts, rubies and sapphires. And I discovered a sweet little boutique selling beautiful scarves, made of the most luxurious silk – just divine! Imagine my joy! These gorgeous fabrics just scream “ballerina”, don't you think?!
I even snagged this absolutely darling pink leather handbag! Oh, my! It has this wonderful tiny mirror on the inside and delicate charms – an embroidered ballet slipper, a pearl-like moon – just heavenly! And guess what? The shopkeeper told me that if I buy ten of their beautiful little ballet slipper pins – that they are all pink, naturally! - she will give me a FREE stunning silver ballet ballerina necklace with pink enamel! Talk about good fortune! (More on that tomorrow with lots of pictures!)
And, if you’re reading this and thinking to yourself – “This girl, Emma – she’s just one crazy tutu enthusiast.” Well, you’d be absolutely right! I live and breathe tutu! I am living the dream – travelling the world and sharing my passion for ballet and fashion – wearing my pink tutu!
Anyway, darlings, I must dash! I have a ballet class this afternoon – ballet is my second favourite pastime (you’ll all be delighted to know the first favourite remains being the star of my own fashion shows!) and then I am rushing back to my hotel to take a bubble bath. Now, that is the best cure for jetlag!
*And the very best part of today? * I am attending a performance of Giselle! My dream ballet.
