Prague Pretty: Pink Tutu Takes On The City of a Hundred Spires - Blog Post 688
Hello darlings!
It's Wednesday, which means a brand new Pink Tutu blog post for you, and my goodness, you'll not believe where I am! I'm in the stunning, historic city of Prague, in the Czech Republic. I flew in on a glorious Sunday morning, after a whirlwind performance in a delightful seaside town on the Kent coast.
The train ride from the airport was truly magical. I have to say, I am a huge fan of train travel. I love looking out the window at all the passing landscapes. In England, the fields are green, rolling with the gentle breeze, and often dotted with the cutest little sheep. And on this trip, we passed fields of wheat waving in the wind, like a golden sea, as well as dark, forest woods - simply beautiful!
Prague was even better. Just stepping out of the train station into the Old Town Square was breath-taking. The ancient buildings towered overhead, their colourful faƧades all adorned with decorative sculptures, it was like a fairytale! My heart was aflutter with anticipation for what adventures awaited!
Shopping Splurge - Prague Fashionistas Take Note!
Before even unpacking at the gorgeous, grand, pink-walled boutique hotel I found, (can you tell I have impeccable taste?), I set off on a little shopping expedition. You see, Prague is a shopper's paradise. There are boutiques bursting with stylish and unique finds. I simply couldn't resist dipping my toes into this retail haven, or in my case, skipping gracefully. I have to say, I am a HUGE fan of pink, and Prague didn't disappoint. I scored the most exquisite vintage handbag in a stunning shade of blush, and an adorable pink satin ballet scarf, perfect for twirling around in!
The Ballet Scene in Prague - Oh La La!
This evening, it was off to the beautiful National Theatre, a grand, neo-Renaissance gem! Tonight, it was all about the ballet! They've been performing Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake for over a century. Can you imagine? To think, this iconic masterpiece has been bringing joy and beauty to generations of ballet lovers, just like myself. Itās like time has stood still, in a truly wonderful way.
Of course, as a dedicated dancer and ballet fanatic, I made sure to attend a ballet class in the afternoon, even though it was held in the oldest dance school in all of Prague. Talk about history and artistry coming together! I even had the honour of trying out some traditional Czech steps. Let's just say I made it look easy! My pointe shoes were dancing as I practiced graceful movements with the local ballerinas. The elegance and grace in their performance and the stories they told with every gesture - well, it just filled me with inspiration and happiness!
Dinner with a View - Bohemian Rhapsody
After my ballet class, it was dinner time, and this evening I went somewhere truly special! The Restaurant U Fleku is one of the oldest breweries in Prague. It has the most incredible atmosphere - it's like stepping back into the 15th century! There were medieval costumes, lots of drinking and laughter - quite the party! But I didn't get carried away, because I had a lovely pink, champagne cocktail and a deliciously tender Czech roast beef instead of the famous āTatarakā meat plate - a favourite amongst Czech people. Iām afraid Iām a bit of a vegetarian, really only straying into the land of meats on very special occasions. I love Pragueās Bohemian spirit! Itās a reminder to live in the moment and enjoy the beautiful and colourful tapestry of life!
Tutu Takeover - Sharing My Passion
And the biggest surprise of the day? A chance encounter! It's just amazing, you see, what happens when you're living a Pink Tutu Life. As I strolled around the cobblestone streets in a very striking bright pink, full-skirted, tulle tutu with feather trims, a lovely group of women, dressed in gorgeous flowing pastel floral skirts and tops stopped me, totally captivated, as I was about to twirl for the Instagram video! They said how wonderful it looked and how inspiring it was to see a bit of sparkle and fun in everyday life. Then one of them confessed - "You're inspiring me to ditch the sensible dress Iām wearing, I am about to find myself a tutu." I immediately launched into a mini tutu-tastic seminar, encouraging them to wear whatever makes them happy and feel like the absolute best version of themselves! I believe the power of pink and tutus is pretty irresistible - and, maybe we'll soon see pink tutus taking over the cobblestone streets of Prague!
Oh, And About That Ballet Show!
But darling, I can't leave you without a word about the amazing ballet! Swan Lake was utterly mesmerising! The lead dancer, the most gorgeous swan imaginable, made the tragic tale of love, loss, and the magic of swan lake seem to come to life.
The City that Never Sleeps
The next morning I woke up to the magical sights and sounds of the Old Town, filled with musicians, cafes, shops, and all the charm of a truly magical place. There are cobbled streets, quirky cafes and hidden alleyways. You really do have to get lost and wander around. Every corner unveils something new to see! I felt inspired by the vibrancy of the city, so of course, I found the prettiest cafƩ and settled in for an indulgent latte with a perfectly light, fluffy croissant.
Daytime Adventures and Evening Glamour
The rest of the day was a whirlwind of exploration! The Prague Castle is simply stunning, the iconic, historic building that dominates the city's skyline with its gothic towers, magnificent gates and charming little shops and streets. The view from the castle was simply breath-taking - and as youāll probably guess, I simply had to take some selfies with my pink tutu billowing out in the wind before the perfect backdrop of the beautiful Czech capital! I canāt wait to post the pictures on Instagram!
Later on, the sun dipped down to cast a golden glow over the city, and we headed towards the Charles Bridge, a truly enchanting bridge filled with street performers and musicians, a bridge that connects Old Town to MalĆ” Strana and is one of Pragueās must-see sights. Here, I joined in on the music - you guessed it - with some spirited twirls and ballet poses, creating a ballet tableau of my own, much to the delight of the gathered tourists!
We headed onwards for another delightful Czech culinary experience - āGoulashā! The warm and rich broth and succulent chunks of meat were perfectly seasoned. The real treat, however, was a plate of āTrdelnĆkā, a local pastry, itās made with dough wrapped around a metal cylinder, coated in sugar and roasted to golden perfection. Oh, it was delicious - a sweet treat to end a day of exploration in this captivating city.
Pink Tutu and Prague - A Perfect Pair
Prague has truly stolen my heart! From the stunning architecture, to the fascinating history, to the delightful culture, to the delicious food, and of course, to the most vibrant fashion, it is a destination that deserves all the attention! It truly is a must-see on every pink tutu wearerās travel itinerary, as it has become a special memory for me. Itās the kind of city that just invites you to dream, twirl, and explore. So, whether youāre looking for a romantic escape or a thrilling cultural adventure, add Prague to your bucket list! I am simply charmed by this exquisite city.
