Prague, my love, you’re a pink dream come true! (Post 717)

Hello lovelies, it's your favourite pink tutu-wearing blogger, Emma, back from the charming streets of Prague. As I type this, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee and delicious pastry is wafting through the air from a nearby café, while the sounds of excited chatter and laughter echo through the cobblestone streets.

It feels like only yesterday I was stepping off the train in Prague, my trusty pink tutu suitcase rolling beside me. But oh, how much has happened in the past week! It’s been a whirlwind of sightseeing, ballet shows, delectable food and fashion discoveries - I'm already in love with this beautiful city.

You see, I came here with a specific mission – to immerse myself in Prague's artistic history, dance scene, and fashion culture, all while exploring the city through the lens of my trusty pink tutu, of course! It’s my belief that every city can be interpreted through the ballet; each turn of a corner reveals a hidden plié, and every architectural wonder calls to you like a majestic pas de deux.

A journey through history - in a tutu!

On my first day, I journeyed back in time to the 14th Century, exploring the magical, fairytale-like Prague Castle. As I strolled through its intricate corridors and stunning courtyards, I couldn't help but picture the beautiful dancers of the time, gliding through the very same spaces, their silks and velvets rippling like shimmering waves. Prague's history simply oozes out of its every crevice, making it truly enchanting to wander and discover.

One of the most amazing discoveries was the unique and quirky "Golden Lane". This charming cobbled lane houses tiny cottages that were once home to the castle’s artisans, but now, are bustling with independent shops, art galleries, and adorable trinket sellers. Each little cottage had its own personality, filled with treasures to be discovered. I couldn’t help myself - I picked up a tiny hand-painted pink tutu for my friend Amelia. I just knew she’d adore it.

The dance of delight – a ballet bonanza!

Oh, and the ballet shows! Let me tell you, Prague has some of the most vibrant and spectacular ballet performances I've ever experienced. It felt as though the city itself was pulsating with rhythm, every corner showcasing some sort of performance.

On Wednesday (January 21st), I attended the enchanting "The Nutcracker" at the beautiful Estates Theatre. I couldn’t believe how exquisitely they brought the story to life – it was absolutely magical. The dancing was sublime, with incredible leaps and twirls that took my breath away. I was particularly moved by the enchanting Sugar Plum Fairy - I just wanted to leap up on stage and dance with her!

A Parisian influence in Prague?

It was so interesting to me that although the theatre has a distinct European architecture with strong French influences, they are also building upon the great Prague Ballet history and style.

I couldn't resist browsing the elegant boutiques near the Estates Theatre after the show, hoping to discover some treasures to match my newly-inspired ballet dreams. My heart skipped a beat as I spotted a stunning pink feather boa in a small, Parisian-inspired boutique – I just knew it would look magnificent paired with my go-to pink tutu! (Remember girls, pink tutu and a feather boa? Totally achievable with a bit of confidence!).

Pinktastic fashion finds – it’s not just the tutu

You all know my passion is all things pink – but Prague, you have truly outdone yourself. The shops in this city are overflowing with feminine fashion – with exquisite silk blouses, frilled dresses and dainty little cardigans, just the right kind to match with a beautiful pink tutu.

I did get my pink-loving self a beautiful little sequined bag from a quaint, independent shop off the Old Town Square, just around the corner from a cute coffee shop called "Café Choco." Honestly, I think my pink tutu could use another bag for when I'm on the move. I have no time to spare between all my exploring, all my tutu-related antics, and of course, all the gorgeous places I’m seeing in this magical city.

I spent the rest of the week exploring more of Prague's artistic treasures - strolling through charming art galleries that boasted stunning oil paintings, taking a peek at intricate architectural designs, and visiting the historic "House at the Black Madonna," with its beautiful blend of old and new architectural elements. The details were simply stunning! It really was a journey for the senses, each landmark offering its own enchanting tale.

And of course, no trip to Prague is complete without enjoying its delicious cuisine. I've sampled everything from mouth-watering roast duck at a cozy tavern to delectable sweet pastries that melted in my mouth (because every girl deserves a bit of a sweet treat – even when you are rocking a gorgeous pink tutu!).

A final goodbye, with love, from Prague

And so, dear readers, as my week in Prague comes to an end, I find myself captivated by its beauty, charm, and history. From its grand architecture to its enchanting ballet shows and hidden Parisian influences, it has been an incredible experience for my heart, my eyes, and of course, for my tutu!

Until next week, I leave you with a little snippet of wisdom – Prague has taught me that magic can be found everywhere, even in the most unexpected places. You only need to open your eyes and your heart, and I encourage you all to embrace a little bit of pink, and of course, don’t be afraid to take your very own tutu along with you on your adventures!

Love always, Emma, xo
