Prague, My Love! ๐๐ธ๐ฉฐ Post #716
Hello darlings! It's Wednesday, and that means a new post from your favourite pink-tutu-clad adventurer, Emma!
This week I've landed in the breathtakingly beautiful city of Prague. This city is truly a fairytale come to life, full of cobblestone streets, charming cafes, and buildings that whisper of bygone eras. And yes, you guessed it, it's tutu-tastic!
Let me tell you, Prague has my heart beating faster than a pirouette in a grand finale. The architecture, oh the architecture! Every building seems to be a work of art, adorned with gargoyles and ornate carvings. You can't help but feel like you've stepped into a historical drama, or perhaps a whimsical fairy tale.
But before I start gushing about every single detail, I must tell you all about my journey here. You know I'm a sucker for train travel, so of course, I opted for a delightful overnight trip from Vienna. I bundled up in my fluffiest pink sweater, settled into a cosy first-class carriage (the train carriage, not the ballet kind!), and dozed off to the gentle rumble of the wheels.
Speaking of gentle rumbles, guess who travelled by pony? Not me, no! I just spotted the cutest little chestnut pony pulling a horse-drawn carriage through the Old Town Square. It looked absolutely adorable, with a little pink ribbon tied around its mane โ I just had to snap a picture! Talk about adding a touch of fairytale magic to the whole Prague experience.
Now, let's talk fashion, shall we? Prague is a fashion lover's paradise, brimming with chic boutiques and charming vintage shops. I've already found a couple of absolutely delightful additions to my wardrobe, including a stunning blush pink tulle skirt (it practically begs for a twirl!). And naturally, I've already bought enough gorgeous ballet accessories to outfit an entire ballet class โ or perhaps, a ballet company! ๐
The Ballet World of Prague
Of course, I'm here to see ballet! It would be rude not to, wouldn't it? I'm so excited to tell you about the show I saw on Tuesday night - "Swan Lake" at the Prague State Opera.
This production had me absolutely mesmerised from the opening notes. The set design was magnificent, transporting us to the majestic setting of the lake, and the choreography was so delicate and expressive โ particularly during the White Swan variation, my favourite part of the whole ballet.
I spotted several fabulous tutu ensembles in the audience! I love that ballet brings together people who appreciate the art form and love dressing up for it. I saw a lady with a dazzling fuchsia-pink tulle skirt and a little girl with a miniature version in pale pink, which was absolutely adorable! And there were even a few ladies in full-length tutus โ my dream come true! It seems I'm not the only one who loves this particular garment, and this confirms that the world needs more pink tutus, even more than a ballerina needs pointe shoes.
I did some ballet-themed browsing on the internet before coming here and I learnt so much about the rich ballet history in Prague! They have this incredible museum dedicated to the world-famous Czech choreographer and dancer, Vaslav Nijinsky. Imagine โ a whole museum devoted to the work of a ballet legend! He is so iconic! He created โThe Afternoon of a Faunโ and the beautiful โRite of Spring,โ I saw both at the Bolshoi ballet school when I was in Moscow last year! I might need to get down there again to watch them!
I was so impressed to learn about the ballet schools in Prague too. They seem to be all absolutely amazing, with world-renowned instructors, impressive training regimes and all-around amazing vibes! They are right next door to my favourite cafe, so it feels so romantic watching the little ballet girls in their leotards walking to class every morning. I'm sure that at one point they are going to get the fashion memo, as well as the pointe shoes and leotards, and be rocking their tutus all over the streets of Prague. I think we might see some tutus here on Prague's Fashion Week in October. Maybe we could get a Pink Tutu Fashion show happening. Wouldn't that be fun?
I also stumbled upon a charming little ballet shop in a side street, tucked away in a corner near the National Theatre. Imagine my joy when I saw a full-length pink tutu tucked away on the rack, just waiting to be taken home! It's definitely going straight into my pink tutu collection, and I'm already dreaming of the perfect occasion to wear it!
Prague has stolen a piece of my heart. It's so alive, vibrant, and beautiful. You know what? I've already started planning my next trip. I'm going to come back during the spring, maybe when the cherry blossoms are in full bloom. I think it will be the perfect backdrop for a twirling spree in my new pink tulle skirt!
Food, Shopping and Beauty
After I saw the Swan Lake performance at the National Theatre I wandered through the cobbled streets, past some delightful shops with stunning clothing, and headed to the little cafรฉ near my hotel, and they brought out a huge plate of the most divine goulash. It had this lovely sweet paprika, tender chunks of beef and beautiful root vegetables, all served with some crispy bread and butter! So delicious. And for dessert, I had an almond cake! It's a lovely way to end a ballet evening!
After all that wonderful, heart-warming goulash, my lovely hotel sent me to their private spa, tucked away at the top of their building. It felt so posh and relaxing. And they used all these delightful oils and balms, so lovely. So I now have a real spring in my step, ready for another exciting day here in beautiful Prague!
Pink Tutus: Everywhere I Go!
You guys know that pink tutus are my everything, and guess what? They seem to be the unspoken style statement of Prague too! Everywhere I turn, I see something pink and fluffy โ on little girls playing in the park, on windows displays at trendy boutiques, and even on the charming old trams.
Just today I walked past a lovely cafe, on the window display they had a picture of a pink tutu ballet dancer in a cafe, and I couldn't resist taking a picture with it, so maybe I have joined a Pink Tutu Flashmob movement. There seems to be so much tulle and frills in this city - so maybe I can get everyone wearing a pink tutu in the near future. Who knows, perhaps a tutu can become the signature fashion piece in this stunning city, replacing those traditional Czech dirndls. Just wait, Prague โ a pink tutu revolution is coming! ๐
This weekโs post has just been a snippet of my trip to Prague. I'll be sharing more tales of my adventures and discovering hidden gems in the city in my next post. I've only just started to explore all the lovely coffee shops and delightful ballet places. The fashion is fabulous! I canโt wait for my next dance-tastic adventure here.
Until next Wednesday, stay beautiful and twirl happy, my darlings!
Lots of love, Emma
