Pink Tutu Prague: A Ballerina's Dream Come True! (Post #746)
Hello lovelies! It's Wednesday again, and you know what that means: it's time for another Pink Tutu Prague post! This week, I'm bursting with excitement because it was absolutely magical here. It's Wednesday, 12th August, 2009, and I've just seen the most divine ballet performance. I truly believe it's possible to become utterly, hopelessly enraptured by the sheer grace and beauty of dance. It was the most magical way to spend an evening - I even felt a little bit of that childlike wonder we all knew so well back in the day!
Remember how I told you I was funding my European adventure by performing? Well, Prague has been incredible - the locals absolutely adore ballet and the venues are just gorgeous. And speaking of gorgeous, let's talk about Prague! This city is like something out of a fairytale. From the cobbled streets to the breathtaking architecture, Prague is just oozing with charm and character. It feels like a city plucked straight from a fairytale, which, when you think about it, is absolutely perfect for a ballerina who just can't resist a touch of whimsy!
Anyway, before I bore you with the details of the show (although I could talk about it for hours!) let me tell you about how I got here. This time, I swapped the train for a ride on the back of a magnificent white stallion! Ok, ok, so maybe not a stallion but it felt very magical riding the countryside on horseback to a hidden path that leads to this charming village, which leads onto this fairytale bridge into a heart of a city with castles on hills, spires that touch the sky, and cafes bustling with the sound of laughter.
Prague's a bit like me, you see, she's always changing. A new flower box blooming by a cafe, a fresh coat of paint on the cobblestones. I could stay for days just admiring the scene!
Pink Tutu Shopping Spree!
And you know what else? Prague is absolutely the best place for a bit of pink tutu shopping. It feels like a whimsical wonderland with all its little boutiques full of charming clothes, glittering jewels, and... well, let's just say my bag's a bit full! Oh, and the Czech glasswork here? It’s a real treat - delicate, glittering baubles with such amazing colours. My apartment's slowly transforming into a ballerina's paradise! I have a whole set of pastel pink glassware now. Everything feels like a dream, darling!
Speaking of dreams, darling, my day was jam-packed! I actually got a chance to meet some fellow dancers and artists. The art scene here is phenomenal! They took me to this amazing gallery and had this exhibition on ballet history, which I was naturally delighted about. Did you know that ballet used to have shoes with massive high heels, all pointy, almost like stilts?! Imagine! We spent the day giggling over pictures and I managed to pick up a really fabulous vintage costume. You’ll have to wait until I post photos from home though, but let’s just say the tutu was a glorious blush pink! I even got a few pointers for some steps. I was totally swooning. I need to add it to my ballet routine – can you tell?
Now, back to the performance... Oh, it was divine! I even got to have a little sneak peek backstage. Imagine! I felt like a total ballerinal fairy-tale princess as I stepped inside. Such magic! The energy of the stage felt amazing - I could practically taste it. And the dancers, they were just amazing - so much passion, so much joy. There was something so captivating about their movements. It was truly mesmerising.
Anyway, that was my evening – a little bit of theatre magic, a little bit of vintage shopping, and a lot of fairy-tale wonder! I truly feel like I am living my dream.
If you’re ever in Prague, I'd recommend checking out the city's rich ballet scene, you won't be disappointed.
