Prague Post #750: Dancing Amongst the Gargoyles

Hello, lovelies! Emma here, back from a whirl through the beautiful cobbled streets of Prague! I've got my trusty pink tutu tucked away for now - let's face it, that's one accessory that's hard to sneak past the watchful eyes of security, but rest assured, she'll be back for my ballet adventure in a few days!

As always, this week's blog post is coming to you straight from the comfort of my hotel room. After all, there's nothing quite as lovely as writing up my escapades while gazing at the magical city skyline, sparkling with lights reflected off the Vltava River.

A Dreamy Departure

This week, my darling reader, my travels took a rather unique twist - instead of flying to my beloved Prague, I decided to take the long route, by train! Now, I'm no stranger to grand journeys; there's something undeniably romantic about watching the world rush past your window, especially when you've got a fluffy new pink travelling companion in tow. And let's not forget the delicious croissant, generously provided by the ever-so-charming attendant!

A little something that warmed my heart? Just before arriving in Prague, my train had to make a stop - for a herd of horses crossing the track! Yes, I know - so whimsical, so quintessentially fairytale! The sheer magic of it all! And do you know what? I saw two tiny, adorable pony-foals, trotting beside their mamas. I practically melted, they were the cutest little creatures!

The Heart of Bohemia

Stepping off the train and into Prague was a moment of pure, unabashed enchantment. The very air buzzes with a joyful energy - it's simply infectious. I can already tell I'm going to be very, very happy here. Of course, it was immediately into my pink tulle, twirling through the enchanting streets and making new memories!

You see, this trip, it wasn't just about ballet performances - though believe me, those are a definite highlight. It was a journey of self-discovery. Every cobblestone street, every pastel-hued building, whispered tales of history, romance, and art - and they were all speaking directly to my inner ballerina.

Prague's Ballerina Story

First on my itinerary? A trip to the stunning National Theatre, the jewel of Prague's cultural heart. Let's just say, I fell in love at first sight. It's the most beautiful theatre I've ever laid eyes on! Imagine it: graceful, towering architecture with ornate sculptures, and even a little glimpse of that pink tulle dancing within its grand hall.

This city, it breaths ballet. Its history, its vibrant art scene - all interwoven with the stories of the ballerinas who have graced these stages. I spent the entire morning poring over fascinating displays about Czech ballet history - tales of fiery ballerinas who defied conventions, who battled against societal norms to pursue their passion.

But I don't just love ballet on stage, darling - ballet off the stage! This trip has given me some truly gorgeous inspiration for the street! Think whimsical tutu-inspired looks, pastel hues, flowing fabrics, and of course, my signature touch of pink! And oh, darling, you just HAVE to check out the exquisite antique lace I discovered at a little boutique tucked away in one of the quaint alleyways! I knew I'd find something perfect for my next tutu.

Where Art Meets History

Did I tell you about my adventure in Prague's enchanting Old Town? I strolled through the charming lanes, my eyes feasting on the colorful architecture and quirky shops. But this week, it wasn't just the architecture and cobblestones that stole my heart - I was completely enchanted by a collection of historical dance costumes on display at the National Museum.

Imagine - beautifully preserved corsets, dazzling tutus and silken slippers - evidence of bygone eras when dance was an integral part of life, when ballet took centre stage, and each dance movement held meaning and tradition. It was a wonderful, nostalgic journey, transporting me back to the age of classic ballrooms and glittering gala performances.

And of course, I had to find the perfect Parisian cafe in Old Town. And let me tell you, darling, Prague does not disappoint. Pink hot chocolate and a delicate slice of cake, accompanied by the sounds of a violin playing nearby... Pure bliss! I’d never even imagine a city this beautiful existed, it was like I'd walked onto a film set! My Instagram was flooded with picturesque moments captured throughout the city, all thanks to my "Prague Fairy Tale" story!

Dance in the Air

I spent a good deal of this past week at a beautiful studio in Prague. It was so nice to finally get back into the world of dancing. Now, while I'm not always quite as formal as the ballet academy, I adore how graceful ballet moves can inspire new trends in my street style. And that's what I was doing here; putting together my very own collection of tutus. My muse for this trip? Well, Prague's beautiful Charles Bridge - can you believe its architecture actually inspired the flowing lines of my next tutus?

As always, I had to capture every detail for my blog. This week's post features my new favourite Prague photo - me in the middle of the city, gracefully spinning and whirling - because let's be honest, there's no other way to describe the city than by incorporating its beauty into my own artistic flair.

The Next Step

Of course, I'm already eagerly anticipating my upcoming ballet performance! Tonight, it's "Giselle" at the beautiful Stavovské divadlo - a truly stunning setting for a truly magnificent story. I love how this performance allows you to see such graceful, poignant movements that I know will inspire my future tutus, as well!

That's all for now, darlings. As my trip comes to an end, I'm leaving with a heart full of magic and plenty of new inspirations for my beloved pink tutus. Stay tuned - my next blog post will feature photos from the ballet and of course, a sneak peek at my newest tutu creations!

Until next time, stay sparkling and stay twirling!

Love always, Emma xx
