Prague, my lovely! Post #798 🩰💖

Hello darlings! It’s Emma, your favourite tutu-wearing traveller, bringing you all the pinkest and most fabulous from Prague, the City of a Hundred Spires. Today's blog is extra special because it's all about ballet, and not just any ballet, but the spectacular Pink Tutu Prague Ballet, which took place here in the heart of this beautiful city last Wednesday (August 11th 2010!).

You know how I love to travel by train – that feeling of anticipation as you journey through different landscapes, passing charming villages and majestic castles… sigh It was such a blissful journey. Of course, I was travelling in style, wearing a hot pink tutu, as one always does. I was especially chuffed to be wearing my newly-acquired French lace tutu, which I snagged at a to-die-for vintage shop in Vienna. It had a gorgeous, frothy skirt and the perfect amount of shimmer.

Prague itself is an absolute dream, the architecture is so romantic and every corner has a captivating charm. But the highlight of the trip was undoubtedly the Pink Tutu Prague Ballet. Imagine my delight when I discovered a ballet company that named a performance after the very essence of my style and personality – pure pink magic!

The ballet company is well-renowned for their spectacular shows and, honestly, I don't know what I was expecting, but this exceeded it a thousand times over! It took place at the stunning Estates Theatre, a historical landmark which has been a haven for cultural performances for over two hundred years! I absolutely adore a historical venue and the Estates Theatre truly did take my breath away, the walls decorated with intricate artwork, the air imbued with centuries of theatre history… you just couldn't ask for more.

The evening started with an enthralling performance of “Giselle” by a talented young troupe. This romantic ballet tells the classic tale of a peasant girl and her unrequited love for a charming nobleman. There was a definite Parisian elegance to their performance, all swishing tutus and delicate movements… and then they did the most amazing grand jetés! The air seemed to be alight with the magic of their dancing.

As always, I made a little outfit statement. You see, I just love the unrivalled elegance of a tutu for any ballet performance. It's the perfect way to express my appreciation for the artform, you see? But for this performance, I knew I had to find the perfect tutu, one that reflected the essence of the city…

So I decided on a shimmering, light pink tutu adorned with sparkling rhinestones. It felt so good to walk through the ancient cobblestone streets of Prague, shining with a bit of my own inner-ballet-dancer. And, of course, my favourite pink hairbow tied with a chic vintage scarf to top it all off. I truly did make a statement!

Later on, as we all took our seats (with perfect etiquette, I might add!), the lights dimmed and the stage illuminated with a magical, soft glow… Suddenly, a group of dancers in the most splendid pink tutus made their entrance – their tulle swishing with every delicate pirouette, they created a vision of pink perfection upon the stage. Honestly, I almost squealed in delight, it was simply divine. I’d never seen pink tutus used in ballet before – I have to say I was mesmerized! I never expected to see pink tutus like that on stage but, you just can't argue with perfection, can you?

They glided and twirled and jumped across the stage, effortlessly enchanting us with every move, weaving stories through their graceful movements… It was simply captivating. You could see the dancers' love for ballet shine through in their every gesture, each expression perfectly mirroring the emotional complexity of the piece… Such joy, such beauty, and such skill. They all truly deserved a standing ovation at the end, and it wasn't long before the applause filled the historic theater, the sounds of the audience roaring in approval… It was truly moving.

After the show, I felt inspired! We had a little lighthearted, almost surreal Pink Tutu Prague themed cocktail party with a group of delightful ballet fans – just a fun little meet-up of kindred souls at a fabulous restaurant right by the Charles Bridge. You know, because every party deserves a pink-tutu-inspired cocktail, don't you think? We raised a toast to the magic of ballet, and to Prague itself… A perfect evening!

Now, darling, no travel experience is complete without a good bit of shopping, especially when you're in the heart of Europe! And of course, I found some absolute treasures at some delightful shops near the old town square. A blush-pink shawl to wear over my dresses, a pair of glittery ballet pumps that'll go perfectly with my pink satin tutu, and a bewitching, silver-tipped ballet bar, which, let's be honest, I was practically bursting with excitement over!

So my darlings, there you have it! My ballet adventure in Prague was absolutely perfect. I highly recommend the Pink Tutu Prague Ballet company - you must go if you’re a ballet aficionado! You won’t be disappointed! And remember, you don't have to be a professional dancer to appreciate a beautiful tutu, it’s simply all about celebrating the beauty, the romance, and the sheer fun of the world of ballet.

Do try and join me next Wednesday at www.pink-tutu.com where we'll be travelling through Vienna, another absolute dream of a city!

Until next Wednesday my darlings! 🩰💕

With love and tulle,

Emma
