Pink Tutu Prague: Post #820 - A Fairy Tale in Pink
Wednesday 12th January 2011
Hello lovelies! It's your favourite tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed travel blogger, Emma, back with another peek into the fabulous world of Pink Tutu Travels. This week, I've arrived in the enchanting city of Prague!
As the train trundled towards Prague, a feeling of excitement fluttered in my chest like a delicate ballet ribbon. I was already smitten with the cobblestone streets and the fairytale towers, peeking out from behind the frost-kissed trees. It's just like stepping into one of my favourite storybooks, only this time, the princess is wearing a pink tutu, naturally!
My mission this week? To see Prague through the prism of pink. Think of it as a quest for the most fabulous pink tulle skirts, a sprinkle of Parisian-style café charm, and, of course, an absolute feast of classical ballet. Oh, and let's not forget the glorious history – every corner seems to whisper with stories of kings and queens, castles and art, and the intoxicating lure of romance.
Tutu-ing Around the City
Yesterday, I went on a whistle-stop tour of the city, a true sensory overload of sights and smells, and it was glorious! A sweet, sweet aroma of cinnamon and nutmeg wafted through the air as I meandered through the historic centre, pausing to admire the majestic Prague Castle, towering over the city like a slumbering giant. And speaking of giants, did you know that Prague's Old Town Square has an astronomical clock that literally tells you the time by using moving figures of the apostles and a skeleton ringing a bell? It's an absolute marvel, especially to someone as fascinated with stories and symbolism as I am!
This evening, I'm indulging in a spot of retail therapy at the magnificent Palladium shopping mall. I'm on the hunt for the perfect shade of pink for a new tutu - it needs to be something both vibrant and subtle, a true testament to my impeccable fashion sense, of course. (My current favourite is a delicate baby pink, perfect for a whimsical ballet performance. But a girl's never got enough tutus, right?)
From The Ballet Studio To The Stage
Now, let's talk about the real reason I'm here! Prague is known for its rich ballet heritage and vibrant dance scene. Later tonight, I'm off to see a performance of "The Nutcracker" at the beautiful National Theatre. You can be sure I'll be sharing my thoughts on the choreography, the costumes, and, of course, the overall impression of the show.
I can't wait to step into that elegant auditorium and be transported by the sheer artistry of these dancers. The energy and the atmosphere always make me feel truly alive. Plus, who can resist the captivating blend of music and movement? It's a perfect combination of elegance, athleticism, and a touch of magic.
A Toast to Pink and Prague
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without indulging in some local treats and indulging in a bit of "pink" fun! A glass of the region's world-famous sparkling wine, alongside a delicious plate of traditional Czech cuisine - the flavours are divine, a delightful contrast of savoury and sweet. It's the perfect way to end a magical day exploring this charming city.
And while I'm enjoying this slice of heaven, I'm also taking the opportunity to delve deeper into Prague's unique history. Did you know that this city boasts a fascinating dance history? The 18th-century witnessed the flourishing of the ballet, and some of the world's finest dancers flocked to its theatres. Imagine all the delicate steps, the elegant tutus, the sheer beauty that once graced these halls - a time I long to revisit!
