Pink Tutu Prague: Post 826 – A Whirlwind of Beauty, Ballet and Boutiques

Wednesday, 23rd February 2011

Hello, darlings! Emma here, back from a truly delightful adventure in Prague, ready to spill the tea, or perhaps a little champagne, on all things pink, frilly, and absolutely fabulous. It’s Wednesday, which means a brand-new Prague post is upon you, landing hot on the pages of www.pink-tutu.com! I hope this post finds you well, in your most beautiful tutu and sparkling with the joy of the dance.

Oh, Prague, how you enchant me! I felt like a ballerina on cloud nine, twirling through your cobbled streets, admiring the ornate architecture, and of course, devouring everything that the city had to offer. As a frequent traveller (always by train, naturally, as a true ballerina is rarely found in anything but a first class carriage!) my suitcase was a veritable cornucopia of pink tulle, satin shoes and the most darling ballet flats - because, as all of you know, comfort is just as important as style. A ballerina on a mission, if you will!

I have a confession, however… even with the best laid plans (pink polka-dotted itineraries are always my jam), I stumbled upon a truly exciting discovery in Prague. You see, the local shop, tucked away behind a cobblestoned archway, boasted the most incredible selection of tutus! Imagine my delight, dear readers, when I found a soft, rose-pink, two-tiered tutu that was positively made for me! I had to snag it immediately. My suitcase overflowed, but hey, sometimes you simply have to embrace a little tutu madness!

The reason for my visit, besides the delightful shopping, was of course, the Ballet. A whole week in Prague means experiencing all it has to offer! And boy, did Prague deliver. My favourite stop, and perhaps the highlight of my trip, was the Czech National Theatre. I was spellbound by the beauty of the building itself. Talk about exquisite! The interior was all glittering chandeliers and plush velvet, so incredibly luxurious, fit for a fairytale, darling!

Of course, I wouldn’t be Emma without a little ballet-related fun! So naturally, the next day I had a lovely stroll around the city center to find the local ballet studio. This, you must understand, is my weakness; a ballet studio in every new city. As much as I love the grand stages and the professional ballet productions, the magic of the studio always brings a certain sense of comfort. The feeling of belonging to the space where ballet dreams are dreamt, and a connection to other dancers – even across language barriers! It was an incredible experience to learn some new choreography and techniques from these incredible Czech dancers! You can imagine, the other dancers, once they saw my perfectly pink tutu, were completely enraptured – not that I’m bragging!

It's moments like these that I cherish the most - the feeling of connecting with the spirit of the dance wherever I go. The universe seems to align and dance with you, no matter where you are.

After a tiring day of twirling, there was nothing left to do but embrace the beautiful city's nightlife, Prague is positively alive with music and energy. I even managed to catch a truly remarkable ballet performance in the city square – imagine, a spontaneous, open-air ballet experience, what could be more fabulous! Watching those dancers performing, so effortless yet powerful, filled me with a longing for my own pointe shoes and stage lights. It made me think: what's more delightful than seeing a ballet on a grand stage? A performance under the stars, a dance floor under the night sky! This beautiful city was my inspiration for this whole week, my dearest readers! It made me consider how I can encourage this sort of art in the heart of a community. I want to share my passion, to ignite a spark in anyone that sees my pink tutu. Every city has a little magic within it!

My Prague adventures have made me want to twirl even more! But before I close this blog post, here are a few recommendations for my fellow ballerina enthusiasts, because every little princess deserves to experience the magic of a pink tutu:

Things to do in Prague for a ballerina (or anyone looking for some lovely whimsy and inspiration!):

  • Prague Ballet School (Prahaská taneční škola) – I recommend booking a lesson or just sitting in on one of their ballet classes! You will be in good company and be treated with all the grace of the Prague ballet community.
  • Czech National Theatre – Catch a performance or a ballet tour; it’s a must-see for any artistic soul! Be prepared for stunning architectural designs and luxurious interior.
  • Old Town Square - You can enjoy a delicious street crepe, a nice long walk with stunning architecture and have an excellent people watching experience. It's so easy to forget yourself here in the energy and beauty of the square.
  • A Ballet Shoe Shopping Spree - Head to the little shop where I found my exquisite pink tutu!
  • Catch a Show – There are so many wonderful events in Prague, you could see a performance in the city center, on a local stage, or even a beautiful ballet performance. You never know where magic can be found.

Of course, no blog post would be complete without a special "pink tutu tip" for all you lovely ladies out there:

Tip No. 826: The Power of a Perfect Pink!

When choosing the right pink for your tutu, go with a shade that embodies your spirit. Don't be afraid to express yourself with your color choices! My advice, for a day out in a city as fabulous as Prague, go for a rich rose pink, a shade as vibrant and charming as Prague itself!

Well, darling readers, it’s time for me to say farewell to the enchanting city of Prague, but rest assured that the pink tutu journey will continue! Don't forget, you can check out my journey in Prague on www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday! My blog posts are all about sharing my passion, a little slice of fairy tale, and most importantly - spreading the love for all things pink! Catch you all next week!

**XOXO,

Emma**
