Prague, darling, Prague! 🩰💕 (Blog post #830)

Hello my darlings, it’s Wednesday again, which means a new Pink Tutu blog post for you all! This week, I’m bringing you the delights of Prague, a city so charming and delightful, it deserves a whole blog post just for itself. You won’t believe what I got up to. I’m bursting to tell you all about it, and the Pink Tutu dress I found. Just wait until you see it!

Travel in style, Pink Tutu style

Let’s start with how I arrived in Prague. Well, I opted for the ultimate glamour – the train, of course! Now, I’m not talking about just any old train. I mean a beautiful old steam train. You know, the ones that click-clack gently along, making that satisfying rhythmic chug-chug sound as they go. My favourite! And the windows are always so delightfully steamy with just a hint of coal smoke clinging to them. So romantic!

And as you can imagine, no Pink Tutu blog post could be complete without the perfect outfit. You’ve seen me in plenty of Pink Tutu dresses on stage, and in many more in my travels. I even had my bespoke travel Pink Tutu for this occasion! It’s a softest pale pink with the fluffiest tulle skirt. It goes all the way to my ankles and flares out at the back. Just perfect for those photos, you know, where I turn away from the camera, then look back over my shoulder? You’ll have to wait for those, I’m going to use them for a future Instagram post, you see…

Anyway, as I made my way through the countryside, a glorious pink tulle cloud dancing around my ankles, it started to snow. It was like a perfect ballet scene from my dreams. Just like a fairy tale, it truly felt like a movie set, with just the right hint of enchantment, that sort of delicate dusting of snow, the soft sound of crunching under my elegant heeled shoes… The train journey was already a highlight of the trip!

The Magic of Prague

As I stepped out of the station into the cool Czech air, I immediately knew Prague was something special. There was this old-world feel, and an undeniable romantic charm, with cobbled streets and beautiful old buildings, so beautifully decorated with elaborate details and stained glass windows. I felt like I had stepped back in time.

For this trip, I found a truly gorgeous boutique hotel tucked away in a charming courtyard. You just imagine… fountain, statues, little trellised plants… and my room had a balcony looking out onto a cobbled square. It’s all quite romantic!

And oh, the food! I mean, what is it about Czech cuisine, my dears, that makes it so delicious? I enjoyed so much delicious and filling food. A special nod must go to their savoury dumplings, but honestly, every mouthful was heaven. I’ve already got the cravings setting in again! Oh, I can't wait to get back there and enjoy those creamy dumplings. sigh.

Pink Tutu Finds and Fashion Inspirations

What’s a trip to Prague without some shopping, especially for Pink Tutu, right? I absolutely had to find a special piece of pink tulle. After all, that is how I justify these journeys, don’t you know!

There are a whole plethora of lovely independent shops in the old town. Imagine tiny, tucked-away, cobbled streets… charming little stores tucked away. That’s Prague for you! You're never sure what you'll find. And the most delightful little independent boutique that I found, was brimming with the most charming accessories and vintage lace.

You'll never believe the amazing Pink Tutu find I unearthed! It was hidden right at the back, a veritable little Pink Tutu jewel. A truly unique creation in the softest baby pink silk with the most delicate and exquisite beadwork and floral lace detail on the top of the skirt. It is simply exquisite! Just like the one I found on a street stall in a Parisian market - well, they simply do know their fashion over in France!

I found that the Bohemian inspiration is all over Prague's fashion. It’s quite obvious as the shops are bursting with vintage floral designs and a sense of bohemian-style chic. But honestly, I see so many elements in their style that also remind me of some of the iconic tutu designs, and ballet pieces. Those layers, those tulle designs, the long, flowy silhouettes…. Prague certainly seems to know its way around tulle and layers and a little bohemian charm!

And to really get into that bohemian look, I indulged in a wonderful headband with real freshwater pearls, I picked up a delicate vintage lace shawl… And of course, I just had to get some sparkly pink heels to match my newfound treasures. After all, they just go so well with my little pink ballet flat pumps, you see… Oh darling, I was a perfect little vision in Pink!

Dance with me

Of course, I simply had to find a ballet class to join, it is after all how I justify my travels, to dance, to learn and explore new skills! Prague is renowned for its ballet tradition, so I found myself attending the most charming studio hidden in the old town. Just picture it… exposed brick walls, wood floors and an old fashioned grand piano! I loved every moment, and felt as though I was stepping onto a beautiful stage, like being in a real opera house!

That night, I discovered the magnificent National Theatre, an incredible piece of architecture. It’s a historical theatre with an ornate facade - even its very architecture oozes theatrical glamour. The detail and ornamentation are amazing, simply jaw-dropping, a building full of beautiful chandeliers and red velvet… a perfect backdrop for a show!

I finally found myself at the most magical performance! It was set within the theatre's incredible, vast hall, featuring the renowned Czech National Ballet performing Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake, such a stunning and dramatic piece! As the music began and the ballerina gracefully glided across the stage, I found myself caught up in a wave of emotion. My heart was simply racing. I was enthralled, my very soul, just dancing! The dancers are simply world-class and so technically talented. Honestly, I was just completely awestruck, the talent of those dancers left me speechless.

Even when the show ended, I couldn't resist sitting there for a little while longer. In fact, I wasn't the only one who lingered as if spellbound in the beautiful atmosphere of the old theatre. All around me, others had remained seated for that extra moment too, still absorbed in the spell cast by the beautiful performance.

As I left the theatre that night, I realised this trip wasn't just about ballet. It was about rediscovering my own love of dance, and discovering its magical power to transport me to other times, other worlds, and even other versions of myself. And the very essence of Prague – with its rich history, cobbled streets, beautiful buildings, and vibrant cultural heart – had provided the perfect backdrop for this discovery.

The magic continues…

I’m planning to return to Prague as soon as I can. There’s so much more I want to discover. Maybe next time I’ll try exploring beyond the city limits, riding a pony through the countryside in my little Pink Tutu ensemble – that would be so much fun, wouldn’t it?! But don’t you worry, I'll keep you updated with all my little adventures on my blog, PinkTutu.com. Be sure to check in next Wednesday for a new post about my exciting travels and adventures!

Until next time, my loves!

xx
