Pink Tutu Prague - Post 831 - 30th March, 2011 - A Whirlwind of Pink in Prague!
Hello lovelies! It's your favourite pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, Emma, bringing you another peek into my latest adventures! This week, I've swapped the rolling hills of Derbyshire for the cobbled streets of Prague. It's been a whirlwind of pink, Prague and performance!
It all started with a journey as romantic as a scene from Swan Lake. Imagine: me, twirling in a bubblegum pink tutu (of course!), riding through the countryside on a fluffy pony, the wind whipping my hair, and the scenery painting itself in shades of green and blue.
But don't get me wrong, the train ride wasn't bad either! With a comfy carriage, friendly chat with a fellow traveller about tutu history (turns out, he knew everything about tutus in the Elizabethan era, fancy!), and a glass of sparkly, it was like a ballet performance itself, but without the demanding steps, thank heavens! I've discovered I really love the magic of train travel; it's like a world of possibilities rolls past the window - I just can't wait to see what's next.
I've landed in Prague, a city with such a beautiful history! The architecture is something straight out of a fairytale! I can imagine a ballerina whirling through those ornate, graceful doorways!
My mission, darling, is to add a dash of pink, sparkle, and tutus to every corner of this charming city! Now, you all know that a Pink Tutu Adventure is never complete without some spectacular shopping!
Prague is bursting with fabulous shops full of gorgeous garments that just scream 'Pink Tutu'. I found myself twirling in a delightful vintage store - the owner is such a darling! She helped me find the most stunning, shimmering fabric for a new tutu (don't worry, I'll be sharing the design on my Instagram).
And what is Prague without a visit to the opera? Yes! I snagged tickets to see "The Marriage of Figaro" - pure Mozart magic, darling! It was everything a ballet performance should be: emotion, beauty, elegance, and enough tutus to make even the most dedicated fashionista swoon.
Don't worry, I didn't forget about the other forms of ballet. Prague boasts a breathtaking street dance scene, and I got caught up in the rhythmic energy of the dancers, their movements a symphony of steps and stories.
Later on, I strolled around Old Town Square, where a street performer had gathered a crowd with a fantastic ballet show β he was an incredible dancer! My inner ballerina just had to get up and dance alongside him, though my tutus are not really made for impromptu street performances...
Itβs funny, Prague's history has inspired me. The city breathes a love for stories, beauty and performance. Every corner feels like the opening act of a magnificent show!
Tonight, I'm heading to see the famous National Theatre's ballet production of "Sleeping Beauty". I'm already dreaming of all the beautiful costumes, the captivating choreography, and, of course, the grand finale. (Don't worry, I'll be writing a full review of the production for my next post, darlings. I am sure it will be utterly fantastic - I have heard such glowing reviews.
Prague is a magical city, a symphony of architecture, culture and performance, and you just know I will be coming back here for another Pink Tutu Adventure very soon!
And remember lovelies, pink tutus are not just for ballerinas. A Pink Tutu is for EVERYONE! So go forth, be brave and spread the love!
Until next week, Emma
