Pink Tutu Prague: Post 835

Wednesday, 27th April 2011

Oh, my dears! What a whirlwind week itā€™s been in Prague! I can't believe I'm already on the brink of another post - time flies when you're twirling through a city as stunning as this.

If you follow my blog, you know that a trip to Prague has been on my to-do list for ages. The architecture, the history, the cobblestone streetsā€¦ and of course, the ballet! This city is practically bursting at the seams with cultural delights, and I was positively bouncing with anticipation.

Speaking of bouncing, the first stop on my itinerary was a visit to the magnificent National Theatre. Imagine my delight when I discovered that they were hosting a performance of "Giselle" by the famed Czech National Ballet - perfection!

Now, I'm a big fan of all things ballet, but Giselle holds a special place in my heart. The story is both tragic and beautiful, and the choreography is simply divine. Plus, letā€™s face it, who doesnā€™t love a good tutu? I've been in a tutu frenzy all week, you see! Prague has such a rich tradition of ballet, with amazing dance schools and companies that draw dancers from all over the world. Seeing a performance at the National Theatre was truly breathtaking, and it made me appreciate the dedication and talent that goes into each and every dance step.

But a trip to Prague wouldnā€™t be complete without exploring its many treasures beyond the stage. The Charles Bridge is simply a must-see ā€“ walking across it, taking in the breathtaking views of the city and the Vltava River, and watching the street performers - I felt like I was walking through a fairy tale.

I had my pink tutu on of course, which garnered a lot of attention. People smiled at me, pointed, even took pictures. It's always nice to see a bit of joy brought into people's days. A passer-by complimented my tutu on its perfect pinkness, saying that he loved how my bright pink made his day a little brighter! My pink tutu is not just my outfit, but a symbol of joy and confidence - I think he was spot on.

Naturally, I had to do some serious shopping, and I am delighted to tell you that Prague has some of the most exquisite boutiques! The city oozes elegance and style, and I found some real gems. Think beautiful vintage clothes, delicate lace, handmade jewellery, and exquisite fabrics. My pink-loving heart went into overdrive! You bet I found myself a couple of additions to my tutu collection, and letā€™s just say I'll be bringing home a few extra souvenirs too ā€“ just for my dear readers, of course.

But Prague isn't all glitz and glamour. The city also holds a fascinating past, and I just had to explore its historical charm. I wandered through the cobblestone streets, taking in the medieval architecture, visiting ancient churches, and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of Prague's charming cafes. The Old Town Square, with its astronomical clock and surrounding buildings, transported me right back in time!

Letā€™s be honest - even a dedicated tutu enthusiast like myself can't resist a little slice of delicious cake after a day of exploration. Prague is a true haven for sweet treats, and I spent an afternoon indulging in the most decadent chocolate cake I've ever tasted.

And what is a journey to Prague without a touch of fairytale magic? I discovered the famous ā€œGolden Lane,ā€ with its tiny houses lined with shops and workshops. Each house is a delightful little capsule of time, and you could imagine little fairies dancing about and the streets cobbled with moon dust. And did I mention the beautiful views of the city from the nearby Prague Castle? Just breath-taking!

I spent a good deal of time delving into the history of ballet in Prague. Did you know that ballet traditions in Prague were actually founded by King Wenceslaus IV in 1384? That is almost a hundred years before it reached France!

Before leaving Prague, I spent a glorious morning in a lovely old tea shop on the river. With a tea pot that looks as though it has come from a history book and cups like tiny flowers, it was a very girly treat indeed! And did I tell you that I found a pink tutu with lavender accents while out and about that I absolutely adore? It just feels like it is meant to be!

So, you see, my darlings, a trip to Prague is truly a delight for all the senses - from the vibrant culture and stunning architecture to the delicious cuisine and enchanting charm. It is a city that inspires me both on and off the dance floor! The energy is just... intoxicating, and I felt truly embraced by its history and art.

But donā€™t worry, my adventures in pink tutus haven't stopped! I'm planning my next ballet escapade, and you can bet that I'll be keeping you updated. In the meantime, donā€™t forget to visit my other blog posts for even more of my adventures!

Stay twirling!
