Pink Tutu Prague - Post 840: A Ballet Bonanza and Bohemian Beauty!

Bonjour, darlings! Emma here, back from a whirlwind trip to the utterly charming city of Prague! Oh my, I'm positively smitten with this place! It was simply bursting with a fairytale feel, cobblestone streets winding like ribbon dances, ornate architecture, and even a fairytale princess (ahem, me!). But enough about the scenery – let's get to the reason I ventured to this enchanting city – ballet, of course!

It’s Wednesday again, and you know what that means – Pink Tutu Prague is back with another thrilling chapter of my tutu-tastic travels! This week, my ballet adventures took me to the grand, majestic theatre of the National Theatre in Prague. Picture it, darlings: crimson velvet seats, plush golden accents, chandeliers that looked like celestial sugarplums… And that wasn’t even the best part!

You see, darling readers, I had the honour of seeing the beautiful ballet performance of ‘La Bohème’, a truly magical production set in a 19th-century Parisian neighbourhood. The dancers were exquisite, a perfect blend of strength and elegance, spinning through scenes with effortless grace. Their movements were like poetry in motion, every plié, arabesque, and chassé a delicate whisper of story. The entire experience left me utterly enchanted!

But of course, no journey is complete without a dash of fashion! I absolutely loved strolling through the boutiques and markets, scooping up charming Bohemian-inspired accessories to add a touch of Parisian flair to my tutu-laden wardrobe. I managed to find a gorgeous floral headband (with a hint of pink, naturally!) to complete my ballet ensemble. It was just the right touch to enhance the "ballerina on holiday" look!

I even managed to squeeze in a ballet class, and oh darling, what a treat! This studio was hidden away in a tiny cobbled courtyard, a secret ballet oasis in the heart of the city. The class itself was incredible, led by a passionate and vibrant teacher with the warmest smile. We glided through traditional ballet exercises, our tutus swirling around us like delicate petals in the breeze. I have to confess, after all that travelling, my poor little legs did a little bit of protesting the next morning! But darling, a bit of soreness is a small price to pay for such beautiful artistry, don't you agree?

Speaking of travel, the journey itself was pure enchantment! This time, I chose the romantic charm of train travel. It was like stepping into a vintage novel – plush leather seats, old-fashioned carriages with picture windows, and a charming rhythm as the train rattled across the landscape. Honestly, I'd happily hop on a train anytime!

Oh, and did I mention I tried the most exquisite Bohemian gingerbread cake? A treat worthy of any ballerina – perfectly crumbly, bursting with honeyed spice, and topped with a swirl of fluffy cream! It was the perfect pick-me-up after a long day exploring the city.

Let's get back to tutus for a moment, my darlings. One of the absolute delights of this trip was discovering the beautiful vintage tutu shop hidden away on a back street. The owner, a lovely woman named Irena, told me stories about the history of the tutu, how it evolved from simple cotton underskirts into the extravagant masterpieces we see today. The entire shop was filled with gorgeous tulle, lace, and sequins, a veritable ballerina's wonderland! I actually managed to resist buying a new tutu – but just barely! (You know me, always looking for the next perfect piece to complete my collection.)

Before I lose myself in the world of tutus entirely, let me take a moment to highlight the must-sees for any ballet-loving traveller visiting Prague:

• The National Theatre: A truly magnificent space with incredible acoustics. The perfect venue to catch a classic ballet performance!

• The Dancing House: This is for all the contemporary dance enthusiasts out there! Designed by two world-renowned architects, this quirky and unique building is a true statement of modern dance aesthetics.

• The Prague Ballet Studio: If you are a true ballerina, like myself, a little ballet lesson will complete your Prague journey!

Prague really is a ballet wonderland! If you’re planning a trip to the Czech Republic, I urge you to experience the magical world of Prague ballet for yourself. The beauty of the performances, the elegance of the city itself, the warm smiles of the people… It's simply a delightful escape for the soul!

And, my dears, I have a special announcement!

To celebrate my incredible trip, I am holding a little giveaway! Just comment on this post with your favourite ballerina (whether she's historical, contemporary, or a fictional character!), and I will randomly select a lucky winner to receive a special surprise from my collection of tutu treasures! This is your chance to win something truly special, just like a gift from a magical fairytale!

Well, my dears, until next time, keep dancing!

Yours in pink tulle,

Emma

P.S. If you have any suggestions for where I should take my pink tutu next, be sure to leave a comment! I'm always on the lookout for the perfect destination to explore the world of ballet. And remember, everyone looks better in a pink tutu!
