Pink Tutu Prague: Post Number 844
Wednesday, June 29th, 2011
Bonjour from Prague, darling! It's Wednesday, which means it's Pink Tutu Prague time! I've missed you all, so much has happened in the last week, you wouldn't believe!
As always, the week began with my usual ballet class. Nothing beats a good plié to start the day, don't you agree? And wouldn't you know it, my new pink tutu from the Mademoiselle Tutu boutique in Paris arrived just in time for class. It's absolutely exquisite!
Speaking of Paris, this time last week, I was finishing up my little Parisian escapade. I indulged in the most divine Parisian fashion and of course, visited the Opèra Garnier – my absolute favourite ballet theatre. Honestly, there's no place quite like it!
But this week, Prague has become my muse! Oh my, the cobbled streets, the colourful buildings, the charm... swoon. I'm truly smitten with this city. The last time I was in Prague, I wore my bright fuchsia tulle tutu and was definitely the centre of attention, especially in the bustling Old Town Square!
This time around, I've brought a special Parisian twist, with my new lavender tutu. I found it in the Marais district, nestled among all the little vintage boutiques. It's just gorgeous - layers and layers of tulle, each one a shade lighter than the one before, and adorned with delicate lavender flowers. I absolutely adore it, and I just know you all will, too!
*But before I bore you with more ramblings about tulle and tutus... *
Let's get to what Prague is famous for! The theatre, of course! My favourite pastime? I'm a total theatre geek - theatre plays, ballet performances, musicals, operas, the lot. You name it, I'm there with a smile plastered across my face, tutu-clad, ready for a night of enchantment.
Today's Highlight
The main reason I decided to write to you today? I'm actually about to head off to a performance! It's a rather special one. The Prague National Theatre, one of the most prestigious venues in all of Europe, will be hosting the most celebrated dancer from the National Theatre in Prague, Ms. Milena Rakova herself. Milena is truly an exceptional dancer - so light and graceful, every movement is so effortless... A true artist, really! The programme promises to be a captivating selection of classic pieces from the romantic era.
Where to Find the Most Exquisite Tutu
Speaking of classic ballet and romance... the National Theatre itself is such a beautiful building, darling! It has a beautiful neo-renaissance design. You know, I adore all those grand theatrical spaces with all their history. And yes, I can’t help but try on tutus and imagine myself waltzing across the stage. I may be just an aspiring ballerina, but even the mere thought makes me feel like a princess in her enchanted forest, dancing under the starlight.
Now, I do love ballet class, you know, that feeling of strength and grace! Of course, no proper dance training is complete without a visit to Panna – that’s the official tutu-making shop in Prague! You wouldn't believe the incredible artistry that goes into those tutus! So much detail, such meticulous craftsmanship - it's almost as though these ballerinas are born to wear these beautiful tutus!
Food Glorious Food... and Tea Time
While in Prague, you just have to indulge in a little bit of local fare. The Czech food scene is just heavenly! Don't get me wrong, I can always enjoy a good scone and cream tea, even here in Prague! Oh, don’t worry, dear readers, my luggage always contains my travel essentials: tea bags, teapot, milk jug and porcelain cups... because, there’s really no more sophisticated way to end a day exploring a beautiful city than with a traditional afternoon tea!
Prague's Café Imperial offers the perfect afternoon tea! This café is situated in a magnificent 19th century building, known for its architectural grandeur, elegance, and of course, exquisite pastries. What I adore about Café Imperial is its stunning chandeliers - perfect for a princess!
Now, darling, I must dash. It’s showtime! The ballet’s about to begin, and I wouldn't miss it for the world. I'll be back next week to share my thoughts and tell you all about this extraordinary night. And please, be sure to come back and visit me on www.pink-tutu.com for the very latest ballet news, travel tips and fashion adventures. Oh! And, of course, be sure to browse my Pink Tutu Boutique, darling, as my ballet adventures often end with discovering a truly beautiful vintage tutu to add to my collection. Until next time!
