Prague, Prague, Pretty Prague - Post #867

Hello my lovelies! It’s Emma here, bringing you the latest from the Pink Tutu blog! I’m writing to you from Prague, a city of stunning architecture, cobbled streets, and endless opportunities for twirling. Can you believe I’ve been in this fairytale city for a week already? The time has absolutely flown by.

But let me rewind…

This week started like most of my weeks, with a ballet performance in Derbyshire. It was a charity gala - I love performing at those - everyone’s dressed up, and the audience are so generous. But you’ll never believe how much I raised this time… nearly enough for a trip to Paris AND a pair of fabulous new pink ballet shoes! It was a big moment for me and the first time I felt like maybe, just maybe, I could finally realise my ultimate dream: travelling the world in a pink tutu and spreading the joy of ballet everywhere I went.

But first, it was time to hop on a train (oh, the thrill of riding those glorious locomotives, and getting lost in a good book as we speed through the countryside - a bit like Alice, but without the tea party!) A very exciting journey later, I found myself standing on the platform at Prague’s main station, the historic Hlavni nadrazi. And guess what? The weather here is absolutely glorious. I’ve even found time to wear a new pink tulle dress I bought at a delightful little vintage shop near the Old Town Square – a classic pink tutu isn’t just for the stage!

Oh, speaking of twirling, there’s no better place to be a ballerina than in the magical city of Prague! I was already dancing in the street the moment I arrived, the architecture just begging for a twirl. The cobbled streets of Prague are like an enormous, beautiful stage. And who knew there would be so many incredible ballet studios?

On this week’s ballet itinerary (and we can't forget the tutu!),

1) The National Theatre: Of course, it was the first stop on my list, a true treasure trove of performing arts.

2) The Estates Theatre: I have a particular weakness for historical ballet and the Estates Theatre is steeped in history. Can you believe, Mozart’s Don Giovanni premiered here in 1787! I was delighted to see a little statue of Mozart outside.

3) The Municipal House: The grandeur! The elegance! This building has some of the most incredible stained-glass windows I have ever seen - the colours! My dear friend Amelia was with me, and I nearly persuaded her to wear a pink tutu to join in a twirling session, the grandeur of the building would have made the perfect setting.

4) Dancing like a Prague ballerina: A big shout-out to The Prague Dance Centre! They offer fabulous classes in so many different styles - from ballet to contemporary. The instructors are super-talented, too. This is the best thing about Prague - it is such an incredible city to be in if you love ballet.

Let's talk about fashion!

Prague is full of chic little boutiques - it's a real treat for the eyes. I picked up some gorgeous jewellery at Galerie Globus, a grand shopping centre full of vintage and contemporary delights, right in the centre of town, not to be missed!

And oh my gosh, have I been enjoying the culinary delights of Prague! Yesterday, I was absolutely delighted to discover a cafe with pink, frilly teacups - you know I was ecstatic! They even had "Little Miss Pink Tutu" written on my coffee mug – I love it when a city has my back, even if it is on my mug.

*On Wednesday, the 7th of December, * there are many fabulous performances on in Prague. I hear the National Theatre is having a performance of ‘Swan Lake’. Of course, I’ll be at the back, making my own interpretive dance! (And perhaps doing a few impromptu cartwheels - it’s hard to resist.)

So, you can find me in the heart of this enchanting city. But even when I’m on the go, I’ll be updating you here at www.pink-tutu.com every Wednesday!

Until next time, my darlings!

Love,

Emma xx

P.S. My pink tutu has travelled all the way to Prague on the train with me, ready to grace the cobbles. Oh, I forgot to mention - we met a pony in the square! Such a sweet, lovely animal, just like our little pink tutu. But the pony definitely wasn't pink. What would you do to make your pony pink?! Let me know in the comments below!

And stay tuned next Wednesday, my lovely readers. For my next adventure: exploring the magical architecture of Vienna, and meeting a real life ballet icon. And you know, this time my new pink ballet shoes may get an outing…

(I think they'll look fabulous on Vienna's cobbled streets!).
