Post #884: Prague - A Ballet Wonderland! šŸ’–šŸ©°

Hey everyone!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another Pink Tutu Prague post! This week I'm bursting with excitement because I'm in the most beautiful city - Prague! You all know how much I adore travelling, and Prague is the perfect place to indulge in my love of history, fashion, and of course, ballet!

Getting here was a joy in itself. My journey began with a classic Derbyshire countryside pony ride to the station (gotta love those early morning gallops!), then a comfy train ride across Europe. The journey is all part of the adventure, don't you think?

Prague is just magical. The cobblestone streets, the fairytale architecture, the quaint cafes... It's like stepping into a dream!

And guess what?! I already snagged the perfect pink tutu for my Prague adventures! I found this stunning number at a little vintage shop nestled in a hidden alley. It's the palest blush pink, with delicate floral embroidery and the most graceful layers.

I'm absolutely smitten with the city. I've spent the past few days just exploring the sights, soaking in the atmosphere. I had a wonderful lunch at a cute cafe overlooking the Charles Bridge, trying out a delicious local dessert called TrdelnĆk. I also had a go at learning a few basic Czech phrases - ā€œDěkujiā€ (Thank you) is now firmly in my vocabulary!

I even stumbled upon a stunning ballet studio nestled in a quaint courtyard. I simply had to join in their beginners' class - it was so much fun! The studio itself is decorated with a beautiful, classic aesthetic thatā€™s a ballet loverā€™s dream come true. It even has a lovely chandelier and a sweet floral scent - I'm definitely adding it to my must-visit spots!

This Wednesday's must-do: Tonight is the main event, something I've been waiting for all week: a performance by the renowned National Theatre Ballet company! It's Giselle at the stunning National Theatre, one of the most beautiful venues I've ever seen.

The anticipation is practically unbearable! This performance will definitely feature on my 'Ballet Moments that Make My Tutu Spin' list! It's guaranteed to be breathtaking. Giselle is such a dramatic story - a love story set in the forest, with enchanting woodland creatures, heartbreaking betrayal, and ethereal Wilis! I love how a ballet performance combines stunning dance moves, storytelling, and costume design. You truly canā€™t help but feel a tingle of magic!

Speaking of costumesā€¦ have you seen the stunning Victorian inspired costumes they wear in Giselle? They are perfect for adding a touch of history and fairytale romance to the show. Imagineā€¦ delicate lace, billowing tulle, and those beautiful pointed slippers... sigh!

This got me thinking about how costumes have evolved over the centuries! Tutus themselves have a fascinating history. The tutu as we know it came into fashion in the mid-19th century - imagine, only about 150 years old! It has changed drastically from the rigid romantica style of the past to the shorter, more flowing styles popular today. Iā€™ll need to share a separate blog post just about the history of the tutu!

Of course, Iā€™m wearing my pink tutu to the National Theatre performance. Itā€™s only fitting to see Giselle while looking as beautiful as the dancers!

The National Theatre itself is worth seeing - I'm going to do a separate blog post on this building later - it's magnificent! It dates back to the 19th century and has this beautiful Art Nouveau style with gorgeous frescoes, chandeliers and sculpted statues. Itā€™s just breathtaking.

After the ballet (but only after!), I'm going to explore some of the city's fashion boutiques. I'm already on the lookout for some unique Czech pieces to add to my collection! Prague is a fashion lover's paradise. I've seen so many incredible shops selling everything from classic, elegant pieces to contemporary, bohemian style. There's even a beautiful antique shop brimming with beautiful hats - just what my wardrobe needs! Iā€™m planning to grab a few coffee breaks and enjoy some tasty cakes at one of the many stylish cafĆ©s in the city.

Stay tuned, dear readers! I'll share all about the show and my shopping adventures next week!

Until then, remember to keep your chin up and your pink tutu shining!
