Prague in Pink: Post #890

Hello my darlings!

It's Wednesday, and you know what that means? Another exciting installment of my Pink Tutu Prague adventures is here! Grab your favourite cuppa and settle in, because I've got a whole world of tutus, tiaras, and twinkling toes to share with you.

This week has been pure magic, and not just because of the gorgeous city lights that are reflected in the Vltava River each evening - even though that is pretty magical! The real magic has been on the stage...because darling, I've just seen the most divine ballet!

Let me rewind a little, shall we?

Remember my last post, when I was gushing about finding the perfect pair of pink patent Mary Janes for my trip? Well, those babies did get their moment in the spotlight - right here in Prague's historic National Theatre!

Speaking of history, this grand building is a true treasure. Built in 1881, it's an absolute marvel of neo-Renaissance architecture. You could practically smell the zeitgeist wafting through those hallowed halls. I mean, you could smell the pastries too, thanks to the charming cafรฉ attached to the theatre...but let's not get distracted by the deliciousness. The building itself just radiates this powerful, creative energy!

Anyway, imagine my delight when the show I chose was a rendition of Giselle, a ballet classic which, if you're a bit of a tutu-enthusiast like me, is absolutely essential to any ballet pilgrimage!

I won't bore you with a run-down of the plot, but the first act alone had me utterly mesmerised! Those delicate Romantic costumes, the haunting melodies...and, of course, the ethereal beauty of Giselle's famous mad scene. It was poetry in motion, seriously, the tears of joy were welling up.

But what really captured my attention were the tutus! Oh, the glorious, breathtaking, effervescent tutus! Every one of those ballerinas danced with such effortless grace...like ethereal beings suspended in time. I found myself longing to join them on that stage!

However, as you know, the tutu-life ain't easy! After the ballet, my beautiful, borrowed pink tutu (more on that later!) had seen its share of adventure - the wind whipping it about in the square and the cafe chairs being oh-so-generously unyielding to a tutu's delicate form! My journey from Derbyshire to Prague via a quaint English countryside pony and the Eurostar certainly didn't make its job any easier!

However, with a few careful hand movements and a dash of pink magic, I was able to revive my trusty tulle companion. After all, every ballerina knows a tutu never truly says goodbye!

And speaking of goodbye...my journey to Prague might be ending soon, but the memory of the enchanting dancing and the magnificent buildings will stay with me forever.

And what about you?

Are you a fellow tutu-loving travel enthusiast? Have you ever found yourself on a similar adventure in Prague, or perhaps somewhere else around the globe? Share your stories below!

Until next time, stay twirling!

Your girl, Emma

P.S. Don't forget to check out Pink Tutu website on Wednesday - we're posting new adventures every week. And if you are considering coming to Prague, I highly recommend Giselle at the National Theatre - the experience is absolutely enchanting. You can even check out the ballet costumes up close!

P.P.S I can't finish without mentioning a little about the lovely Parisian designer behind my fabulous pink tutu - his designs are truly remarkable and they bring so much joy to every performance! (He's also very supportive of my pink tutu mission - more on that next week!).

Let's all do our best to spread some joy this week!

Xx
