Prague, Darling! Post Number 917: Pink Tutus & Magical Prague
Hello, my dears! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new Pink Tutu Prague blog post. This week, I'm whisked away to the beautiful city of Prague, a place I've dreamed of visiting for years. Think cobbled streets, grand architecture, and a fairytale charm that's impossible to resist!
But first, a quick catch-up from Derbyshire. Life back home was a whirlwind of twirling and travelling! Last weekend, I performed a solo in a charity gala for the local children's hospital. It was so lovely to bring a touch of pink tutu magic to the stage, and to see the childrenās smiles as I danced. Itās all thanks to your lovely support, too ā remember how I mentioned I'd be funding my travels with performances? I'm so grateful for all of you!
Now, back to the main attraction: Prague. It was a magical journey by train - I do love the leisurely pace of train travel, and of course, I got to wear my pink tutu en route. (Honestly, darling, who could resist? The swaying rhythm of the train practically begs you to twirl, don't you think?).
Prague is breathtaking! Imagine gothic cathedrals reaching for the sky, ornate bridges shimmering over the Vltava River, and quaint cafes nestled amongst pastel-coloured houses. It's truly a city where time stands still, and I'm smitten.
Pink Tutus in Prague: A Cultural Journey
Of course, any visit to a new city is incomplete without some pink tutu fun, right? As soon as I arrived, I set out to discover the history of dance in Prague, which is, as you can imagine, incredibly rich and captivating.
Firstly, a little trip to the National Theatre - a majestic building that embodies the city's cultural spirit. There, I learned that Prague boasts an incredible ballet tradition. One of my favourite finds was the history of the Czech National Ballet, which dates back to the 18th century! There are fascinating stories about iconic ballerinas, revolutionary choreography, and stunning costumes - much of which I hope to find and show you in future blog posts.
Then, I popped into the Old Town Square, where the Astronomical Clock draws crowds every hour with its intricate details and mechanical figures. Just imagining a graceful ballet performance set in front of this ancient marvel got my heart pounding - the symbolism of time and movement combinedā¦ It would be absolutely magical, don't you think?
Speaking of the Old Town Square, there's a new ballet school right around the corner that offers classes, workshops, and even a few shows, too! I'm very excited about a beginners' course in ballet history and costume that they offer on Thursday afternoons, so you can bet Iāll be sharing all the insights with you. I've even discovered that there's a fantastic costume shop nearby, just for dancers, so expect a dazzling haul for my tutu wardrobe in my next post!
Shopping Spree: Pragueās Pink Paradise
Darling, you know how much I adore browsing for beautiful things! Pragueās streets are overflowing with independent boutiques and charming antique shops, and the boutiques, my dears, have been overflowing with gorgeous pink pieces! From chic pink dresses with lace details to vintage fur shrugs with feather trim (a total necessity for the chillier evenings), it's been pure delight. Iām actually planning a full āpink fashion' post for next week - I can't wait to share all my Prague finds!
Magical Meals: From Coffee and Cake to Gourmet Delights
And it wouldn't be a pink tutu trip without some delectable indulgences! I've sampled every local delicacy I could find ā from creamy cakes in quaint cafes to fresh pastries at open-air markets (always with a pink beverage, naturally). Don't even get me started on the savoury treats!
My favourite find? A charming little bakery tucked away near Charles Bridge. Their apricot dumplings, sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, are simply divine! (Of course, I twirled with delight when the baker brought me a plate with pink cherry blossom frosting!) I think Iām officially addicted to this delectable dessert. The perfect sweet ending to every day in Prague!
Pink Tutu Fun: An Unforgettable Evening at the Theatre
The pinnacle of my trip was a stunning ballet performance at the National Theatre on Tuesday night. āSwan Lakeā has been on my āmust-seeā list for years, and Iām thrilled to report that it was absolutely breathtaking! The elegance and artistry, the beautiful costumes (of course, they had to have pink!), the haunting music - it was magical, and a perfect way to end my Prague adventure. I found myself transported into a world of delicate beauty and elegant movement. It was the perfect way to appreciate the cultural richness of this enchanting city!
And as I write this post, the clock chimes midnight in Prague. The soft light of the moon is casting shadows on the cobbled streets, and I canāt help but think of the iconic swan scene in "Swan Lake" that captivated me earlier today. This magical city, with its ancient history and breathtaking architecture, has stolen my heart. Prague has become a place that embodies the elegance, beauty and charm I associate with the pink tutu life.
Stay tuned for more from my pink-tutu adventures in Prague next Wednesday. Until then, my dears, happy twirling!
Love,
Emma
