A Merry Christmas, Darling!

Hello from the enchanting city of Prague! I'm writing this from my charming little hotel room, perched on a hill overlooking the Charles Bridge. I arrived in this stunning city on Boxing Day, and I'm already smitten.

Before we delve into the whirl of pink-tutu-ness that Prague offers, let's take a moment to rewind. You know, there's something special about spending Christmas with family. My dear mum cooked up a storm - a veritable feast! My Aunt Susan brought her famous mince pies, which I have to say, were a delightful little taste of heaven. Then, there was the opening of the Christmas presents... you see, Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without a good pile of gift-wrapping, would it?

I must say, this year I was incredibly lucky. I received the most beautiful new pair of pointe shoes! Imagine, a brand new pair, fresh and unblemished, just begging to be broken in. A delicate touch of blush pink satin, adorned with ribbons, oh it was a real dream! And to top it all off, Mum gave me the most gorgeous pink velvet evening bag - the perfect accessory for any ballet soirée, wouldn't you say?

As I bid farewell to my family and waved goodbye from the train station, I felt a mixture of longing for the warmth of home and an invigorating thrill of anticipation for Prague. The train journey itself was truly enchanting, gliding through the rolling countryside of Derbyshire. I find something deeply peaceful about being on a train, watching the world blur by, losing myself in my thoughts. And yes, even in the comfort of a first-class carriage, my feet itched to tap out a light plié or two!

And now, I'm here! It took me just a few minutes after stepping out of the train station to fall in love with the vibrant spirit of Prague. The architecture, oh my, it's just incredible. A beautiful symphony of Gothic, Romanesque, and Art Nouveau, with colourful houses lining the cobblestone streets. Everywhere I look, I find new and exciting nooks and crannies begging to be explored.

Naturally, the first order of business upon arriving was a thorough investigation of the local shops! This wouldn't be a true Pink Tutu adventure without a shopping spree, wouldn't you agree? Luckily, Prague boasts an impressive selection of boutiques, antique shops, and delightful independent stores. Imagine my joy at discovering a hidden gem on a quaint little side street: a shop overflowing with vintage fabrics! My hands flew across the delicate laces and silk ribbons. My dear, the sheer artistry of these materials is breathtaking, and I'm already dreaming up all the delightful tulle and velvet combinations for a brand new pink tutu!

Speaking of dreams, this trip to Prague was specifically designed with the city's renowned National Theatre Ballet in mind. It seems their Christmas season performance was tailor-made for me: "The Nutcracker"! Who could resist the magic of a wintery wonderland brought to life by talented dancers, in an exquisitely ornate theatre setting? The beautiful story, the intricate choreography, the music, it all combined for an utterly magical evening. It was even better than I could have hoped for! And the theatre itself... let me tell you, it's an architectural masterpiece! The chandelier, my dear, a dazzling explosion of glass and crystals!

Afterwards, the streets were alive with festivity. The city is alight with Christmas cheer - beautiful illuminated Christmas trees and market stalls overflowing with crafts and treats. And as the evening drew to a close, I had a moment to sit back, enjoy a steaming mug of Czech coffee and contemplate all the pink-tutu delights Prague has to offer! I must say, there's something incredibly special about this city! The vibrant culture, the architectural gems, the beautiful music, and the welcoming atmosphere - all combined to create a unique magic!

And so, my dears, I leave you for now. I must continue to explore Prague and all its wonders! There's a magnificent medieval castle perched on a hill overlooking the city, and the Charles Bridge looks just as breathtaking under a starry night sky. I shall post again next week, detailing all the new pink tutu adventures to come. Stay tuned, darling!

Yours truly,

Emma
