Well, darling, I've just got to tell you all about my latest adventures in the most magical city of Prague! It's absolutely bursting with fairytale charm, beautiful architecture, cobbled streets, and even a touch of whimsical whimsy, just like a tutu-clad ballerina’s dream!
As always, my travels are funded by my favourite pastime: performing! This time, I danced with the "Elegant Swans" company in a fundraising ballet at the stunning Derby Theatre. You just wouldn't believe the reception, darling! The audience was spellbound, especially by my rendition of the Sugarplum Fairy from The Nutcracker. I can't tell you how much they adored the pink sequined tutu. It's definitely my go-to for bringing the sparkle. 💖
From Derbyshire to Prague by Train... And Pony!
You see, darlings, my journey to Prague was truly special. First, a grand adventure by train! My fellow tutu-enthusiasts would love this: It's not every day you get to take a cross-continental trip on the Orient Express. The carriages were like stepping into a scene from a romantic novel! Imagine plush red velvet seats, elegant chandeliers, and a scrumptious champagne brunch served by immaculately-dressed attendants. Pure decadence!
I have to confess, there was a slight mishap along the way. Apparently, you can't just jump onto a pony in a grand train station and gallop through the countryside, however enchanting the image might seem. My new "friend", a rather handsome grey steed, seemed to be perfectly willing but, well, station staff have a tendency to get quite grumpy about that sort of thing! It’s a shame; it would have been so delightfully Bohemian. Luckily, my good friends at the railway were very helpful and after a rather lively discussion about the virtues of equestrian transport, they saw reason and directed me to a rather nice taxi. It was the kind of amusing chaos I expect on my travel escapades. 😄
Prague: A Tutu-ful Fairytale Come True!
I must admit, my love for pink and my absolute adoration for all things tutus makes me a little prone to seeing fairytale elements everywhere I go. Prague definitely fuelled those magical vibes. Just imagine walking over the Charles Bridge with the beautiful Vltava river flowing below, the medieval architecture rising up around you, and the cobblestones sparkling under the bright sunshine. Then, add a pink tutu, a dash of glitter, and a charming street musician playing Mozart - you have an actual ballerina’s fantasy!
My hotel is just about as charming. It's housed in a historical building, full of intricate details and whimsical curves. The staff are absolutely lovely - I arrived feeling a little jet-lagged after my grand train journey, and they immediately offered me a cup of lovely fragrant tea. They even helped me carry my luggage up to my room!
I can’t get over how perfectly the whole city blends a sense of historical elegance with the bohemian vibrancy of Prague. It’s like they knew I was coming.
Seeing the sights - and indulging in all things tutu!
It would be an utter shame to come to Prague without experiencing all its fascinating sights. Yesterday, I found myself marveling at Prague Castle, its imposing architecture soaring towards the heavens like a giant ballet stage! You can't visit Prague without experiencing the magic of its old town, a historical treasure trove with stunning squares, ancient churches, and buildings dripping with medieval charm. The perfect place for me to buy a vintage hat for my new pink tulle dress - such a charming accessory for a whimsical afternoon spent sipping coffee at a street-side cafe! ☕
But, of course, darling, I’m not one to leave my tutu behind. Even while travelling! 🩰 My little black travel bag contains enough pink tulle and fabric for my ballet shows and a fabulous emergency outfit if need be! This means I have my trusty pink tutu, with my personal design, ready for a spontaneous ballet performance. Just in case! (Or just because I have a spare pink tulle moment... Which happens more often than you would think! ) My lovely tutu wardrobe came from one of my favorite little boutiques, tucked away on a street in central London called Tutu Chic. I discovered it after an afternoon shopping with the ladies, we were doing our regular ballerina pilgrimage - from The National Gallery to the Tate Modern to Tutu Chic. A day well spent. ✨
Speaking of fabulous, I had the pleasure of seeing a magnificent ballet performance at the beautiful National Theatre. My eyes were glued to the intricate footwork, the graceful leaps, the powerful spins, and of course, the gorgeous costumes! They truly embodied the timeless elegance and grandeur of classical ballet. As always, I loved admiring the ballerinas’ beautiful tutus! From the grand tutus used for traditional ballets, to the charming short tutus for modern ballets. A whole galaxy of tutu styles!
But don't worry, darling, I won't only be reporting about ballets while I'm in Prague! This city is overflowing with exciting sights and experiences. We are on Wednesday, so it is a new week in Prague for me! Tonight, I plan on exploring the legendary Old Town Square. It’s said to be haunted by a mysterious apparition who dances under the moonlight, although I’m more likely to find a street performer with an enchanting accordion! Who knows? I might even start to dance with him. 🎵
The other day, I ventured into a magical little cafe hidden down a narrow cobblestone street. It had so many fairylights hanging outside, and the interior was beautifully decorated with lace tablecloths and hand-painted china teacups. There's just something so utterly enchanting about Prague! 💖

You can find joy and sparkle everywhere - in the twinkling of a city streetlight, in a playful butterfly dancing through a flowerbed, in a handwritten note from a friend...
