Pink Tutu Prague: Post #926 - The Ballet Belle of Prague!

Wednesday, 23rd January 2013

Hello my darlings! It's Emma here, your resident ballet belle, bringing you a delightful dose of pink and prance straight from the charming cobbled streets of Prague! I've finally arrived after a truly enchanting journey; I confess, travelling by pony across the plains of Europe might be the most romantic way to travel. The wind whipping through my hair, the gentle clip-clop of hooves... I even convinced the pony to wear a little pink ribbon, just for me!

Speaking of romanticism, this week has been utterly magical. Prague is just the sort of fairytale city that makes you want to twirl. Imagine cobblestone streets leading to towering spires, medieval churches that make you feel like you've stepped into a Disney film, and of course, breathtaking architecture, perfect for capturing on camera, or even better, twirling under! I found the most exquisite pink coat yesterday - it perfectly complements my darling tutu and the pretty blush of the setting sun!

Ballet Beyond the Danube

But of course, I couldn't come all this way without indulging my passion for ballet! Prague has such a rich history of dance. I found a wonderful little book at a bookshop near the Charles Bridge - "The Ballet of Bohemia" it was called - and spent the whole afternoon absorbed in the history of dance in Prague, right back to the Habsburg era. The ballet schools in Prague are known all over the world, you know, and I even found myself twirling in one this morning. My favourite ballerina (I’m not telling you who, I don’t want her mobbed!), trains here. Isn't that amazing?

Oh! and my visit wasn't just about learning; I finally got to see the Sleeping Beauty at the National Theatre last night! The dancing was simply divine - my toes actually wiggled with anticipation just watching it! The stage sets were lavish, the music was sublime, and the audience was absolutely enraptured. I felt myself swept away by the romance, the drama, and of course, the beautiful costumes, particularly the leading lady's - I wouldn't be surprised if it inspired a few new additions to my tutu collection!

Tutu Time in Prague

Speaking of tutus, you wouldn't believe the little independent boutique I found down a quaint cobblestone street called "Tutu de Luxe". It was bursting with all sorts of exquisite tutus, and guess what? They had the most darling pink tutu with pearl accents – it was just perfect! It made me feel like a princess straight out of a fairy tale, and I just couldn’t resist snapping it up, right?

The owner was an absolute darling! She told me all about her obsession with the art of tutu making - which, naturally, I found utterly fascinating! It seems the perfect tutu can take weeks, even months, to craft. Can you believe that?

A Dance of Delights

The best part is, Prague is just the beginning. My little Pink Tutu Blog journey is only getting started! I’m absolutely going to have to visit Vienna next – I’ve heard about the famous opera there! And who knows what new adventures lie in wait? The possibilities are truly endless, and I'm just itching to explore more of this beautiful world with a twirl, a dance, and a dash of pink, of course.

Keep following me on my website at www.pink-tutu.com for weekly updates! And remember, darlings, don't be afraid to wear your heart on your sleeve, and always wear your tutu with a smile! Until next Wednesday, my dears!

With a million twirls,

Emma xxx
