Prague, Prague, Prague - It's Pinktastic! (Post #928)
Bonjour, mes amies!
Well, the cobblestones are calling and I’ve got a suitcase brimming with tulle and sparkles! Yes, darling, it’s time for another adventure from your favourite pink tutu-wearing ballerina, Emma. This week, I'm whisking you away to the magical city of Prague, the "City of a Hundred Spires".
My darling, Prague is a fairytale. It's like stepping straight into a Tchaikovsky ballet with its Baroque architecture and charming medieval streets. I'm practically floating on air just thinking about all the beautiful, romantic scenes I'm going to discover here!
Travelling in Style, Like a BallerinaThis week, I traded my usual ‘on point’ ballerina posture for a spot of train travel - the glamour of the train, darling, you can't beat it! I love watching the countryside flash by from the window. The changing scenery always gives me such a sense of freedom and inspires me.
And let's be honest, the train journey was an excellent opportunity to dress up! My scarlet frock, with its little tulle embellishments and statement earrings, got everyone’s heads turning as I disembarked, my trusty pink tutu tucked neatly beneath my arm (you can't be too prepared!).
Pink Tutu at Prague's Pinktastic TheatreYou see, my dears, I've been dying to visit Prague for a long time. I knew it was going to be perfect for my blog. I mean, this city is literally covered in pastel shades – it's just made for my pink tutu. Oh, I can already feel the inspiration brewing!
Speaking of pink, I’m on a real Pink Tutus & Tchaikovsky kick this week. So naturally, I had to head straight for Prague’s National Theatre! Imagine, a gorgeous 19th century theatre complete with galleries, gilded decor and, of course, a spectacular pink and gold ballet set – absolutely divine! The perfect stage for some classic ballet artistry, darling! I can't tell you just how excited I was about this performance! My heart was practically leaping from my chest in my very own ballet-inspired pink silk frock!
As I wandered around the stunning courtyard of the theatre, the sun glistening off the spires and ornate rooftops, I felt a surge of happiness that could only be matched by the feeling of a perfect, well-executed ‘piqué turn’.
I decided to capture some pictures of this architectural masterpiece before heading inside, after all, a ballet ballerina always knows how to capture the perfect moment!
### Prague: Ballet History & Fashion Dreams
Before the show, I made a pilgrimage to the Theatre Museum of Prague to really soak up the culture and, of course, find some inspiration. The museum housed a fabulous exhibition on the history of ballet costumes, filled with dazzling displays of stunning tulle tutus, glittering pointe shoes and breathtaking hand-painted silk bodices.
Oh my darling, I felt like I'd stepped onto a historical stage. I just couldn’t help but try on some of those vintage tutus. They whispered tales of grace, elegance, and sheer artistry. I knew this was my moment! The feeling was so electrifying – a true ballerina experience! It reminded me how deeply woven the history of dance is to fashion!
That night, the performance at the National Theatre was truly enchanting. The classic choreography of "The Nutcracker" danced before my eyes in all its elegance and beauty, reminding me that ballet is a universal language understood across every culture, language and time. The energy in the air was pure magic. I’ve always loved the way "The Nutcracker" transports you to a different world – especially at Christmas time. And here in Prague, I felt like I had been transported back in time to the birth of ballet itself.
And did I mention that I saw a glorious collection of pink tulle tutus during the performance? The tutus just took my breath away! It was everything I could have ever dreamed of - all those swishing layers of pale pink tulle floating and dancing, pure ballet heaven!
Shopping & Ballet DreamsEvery journey needs some retail therapy, darling! So, of course, my trip to Prague was punctuated with some wonderful, exquisite and rather pink shopping adventures. I even picked up some adorable vintage costume jewelry to add to my collection - some dainty pastel necklaces, delicate flower brooches, and even a rather spectacular vintage fan with pearl embellishments - just divine. I felt like I was on the set of "My Fair Lady" picking out some accessories for Eliza Doolittle!
And of course, my little shopping bag now proudly displays some genuine Czech Crystal earrings! Those Czech girls sure know how to craft a pretty sparkle.
A Pink Tutu AdventureIt’s true darling – when in Prague, one simply must enjoy the traditional “Prague beer”. I spent one delightful evening sipping on this local treat, while gazing across the Vltava river and taking in the fairytale scenery of this magical city. I simply adored watching the city come to life with musicians busking along the bridge, all while reflecting on the culture and history I'd encountered this week! It’s a truly amazing place. I love the way this ancient city feels like it is overflowing with hidden treasures waiting to be discovered - so perfect for a pink tutu-clad blogger!
My travels continued at a rather brisk pace with a charming afternoon trip by pony and carriage to a nearby horse farm! I don’t think anything quite prepares you for a carriage ride in Prague – the experience felt almost surreal! I imagined myself as a fairytale princess with my pink tutu blowing in the wind, the hooves clip clopping against the cobblestones!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again - I am totally and utterly obsessed with this magical, mystical city! The streets feel so alive – they are overflowing with a contagious joy and vibrancy – just the place to lose myself in dreams and inspiration. The ancient buildings are beautiful, romantic and absolutely pinktastic, darling! I couldn't resist filling up my camera roll with pink, blush and rose-gold photos to celebrate the beauty of the city - and naturally, a few snapshots of my fabulous self and my pink tutu in the magical setting, because, after all, what's a ballet blogger's life without a photo opportunity?! I know, it's simply dreadful!
Prague has stolen a little piece of my heart. I will definitely be back for more adventure!
Oh, darling! Did I forget to mention the most exciting part?
That’s right, you're not going to believe this, but I even encountered a pink tutu shop on my shopping journey - a delightful little haven of ballet wonder, full of delicate tulle and glittering sequins! They are all in the most heavenly shades of pink! Naturally, I had to snag a new one. And no, you wouldn’t believe it, darling – but I even managed to buy a tiny little pink tutu for a miniature teddy bear I bought on the same day – talk about adorable! Now I am the proud owner of a miniature Pink Tutus in Prague photo album, complete with the tiniest and cutest pink tutu you could ever imagine!
Well, dears, until next Wednesday, I’m off to plan another amazing ballet-themed adventure – you can always find my next post on www.pink-tutu.com, and keep your eyes peeled for updates on Instagram – @PinkTutu_Emma! I can’t wait to share it all with you!
Au revoir, darling, and remember – always dance!
