Prague, Prague, Wonderful Prague! #937

Bonjour mes chĂšres!

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a fresh update from yours truly, Emma, your favourite pink-tutu-wearing ballet-loving travel blogger! And this week, darling, we're in the city of a hundred spires, the heart of Bohemia, the magical Prague!

I'm writing to you from my absolutely delightful hotel room, overlooking the Charles Bridge - a bridge I simply must stroll across at sunset, preferably with a perfectly chilled glass of local white wine in hand. The air here is thick with history, with the gentle scent of freshly baked bread from the many charming bakeries on cobbled streets, with the lively hum of trams clattering through the streets - it's pure fairytale!

Now, before we delve deeper into my Prague adventures, let's talk tutus. My love affair with tutus knows no bounds. Just imagine, my dearest readers, this magical city! Gothic cathedrals reaching for the heavens, Baroque architecture whispering tales of bygone times, cobblestone streets begging to be danced upon - and me, swirling and twirling in my latest pink tutu masterpiece. Sigh!

For my first evening in Prague, I had to select the perfect tutu - I mean, how could one possibly choose between my cloud-like lilac tulle dream, my majestic ruby-red princess confection, or my blush-pink "Prima Ballerina" tutu with the exquisite beaded bodice?

Ultimately, darling, it came down to practicality. You see, I'm going to be visiting the National Theatre later today, and I wanted to make a grand entrance - it's the perfect place to twirl with style, isn't it?

Speaking of tutus and the National Theatre, have you ever wondered how tutus evolved over time? I absolutely love digging into the history of dancewear - there's such a fascinating story behind it all! It's incredible how much the design has changed since the 19th century. You could almost write a novel based on its fascinating journey! From the early romantic tutu with its flowing length to the sleek and form-fitting styles of the 20th century, tutus have been reflecting the evolution of dance and fashion for centuries!

But let's return to Prague! After checking in, I indulged in a quick shopping spree at the quaint little boutique near the Old Town Square. Let's just say my luggage is already overflowing with new trinkets and, of course, a little something pink for my wardrobe. One cannot be in a city this beautiful and not be inspired by its vibrant artistic soul!

Oh! Speaking of vibrant artistic souls, there's an amazing little ballet shop just around the corner from my hotel! They have the most beautiful hand-painted shoes, ribbons for your bun, and even the cutest ballet bag I've ever seen. You simply must visit it, darling!

Now, about tonight's ballet! I’ve secured tickets for “The Sleeping Beauty,” a stunning masterpiece that premiered in Prague at the National Theatre in 1889. The stage, designed by legendary painter Josef NavrĂĄtil, is said to be adorned with elaborate dĂ©cor that transports you right into the enchanting fairytale. I simply cannot wait to see the costumes, the magical music, and, of course, the ballerinas dancing their hearts out.

I’ll be posting photos and snippets of the performance on my Instagram (@PinkTutuPrague) and my blog. Be sure to follow along, darlings, as we experience Prague together.

Until next time, remember: It’s never too late to wear a pink tutu, to chase your dreams, and to experience the beauty that surrounds you!

Until then, twirl on,

Emma

P.S. Did I mention I travelled to Prague by train? And guess what, I’m coming back from Prague via a private train car that is being pulled by two horses! It is not very practical I must admit. It’s all about the journey, my darling, and a chance for the most elegant horse riding! I will be documenting this journey via my instagram - of course!

I’ve had a very wonderful time visiting Prague so far, so if you’re looking for inspiration, follow these 5 tips:

  • Shopping: Explore the narrow streets in Old Town and enjoy the plethora of small boutiques and vintage shops selling a treasure trove of stylish finds.

  • Tutu Shop: For a ballet lover, it’s a must! You’ll be blown away by the charming boutique around the corner from the Pink Palace Hotel. And darling, don't be shy, they have tutus in every colour you could possibly dream of!

  • Charming Cafes: Indulge your inner gourmand by sipping coffee at one of Prague’s cozy cafĂ©s! Don't forget the delicious pastry, darling! It’s all about enjoying the simple things in life.

  • Night Markets: If you love vintage and handmade crafts, a wander through Prague’s charming night markets is a must. They come alive after sunset and you’ll be spoilt for choice!

  • Savor the Flavors: When you’re in Prague, be sure to savour the delectable local cuisine. Treat your taste buds to a delicious goulash or try one of the countless varieties of dumplings - all with a generous helping of beer! (Do let me know if you need recommendations - I've discovered some absolutely heavenly pubs serving the finest beers!)
