Pink Tutu Prague: Post #960

Wednesday, 18th September 2013

Hello my lovelies! It's Emma here, your resident pink-tutu-wearing, ballet-obsessed blogger, back from a whirlwind of Prague adventures! This week, my darling readers, I’ve been flitting through the cobbled streets, marvelling at the golden architecture, and soaking up the Bohemian spirit (and, of course, doing a spot of tutu-shopping, naturally!)

Prague is, quite simply, enchanting. Every corner is a picture-postcard moment; every building a story waiting to be told. And let's be honest, what's a trip to a European city without a little bit of history, eh?

Ballet History In Prague: From Tutus To Tsarinas

Did you know Prague has a rich history with ballet? My ballet brain went into overdrive when I discovered the National Theatre here is not only renowned for its gorgeous neo-renaissance architecture but also boasts a ballet company that's been captivating audiences since 1881. Oh, the costumes I imagine they've seen over the years!

Speaking of costumes... did you know that the iconic tutu, our emblem of ballet grace and elegance, has a story as fascinating as the art form itself? It originated in the 1830s, thanks to the imaginative vision of Marie Taglioni, who, for all you ballet newbies out there, was basically a ballet goddess, pioneering romantic ballet! She believed that a skirt, made short and billowing, would reveal the lightness and grace of her movements.

From Marie Taglioni's elegant vision to today's dazzling, contemporary designs, the tutu has evolved into a symbol of beauty and empowerment. And honestly, can you imagine a ballet world without that magical floaty fabric? I certainly can't!

From Ballet To Street Performances: A Love Affair with the Art of Movement

The magic of ballet extends beyond the stage. As I wandered through the old town, I couldn't help but notice how much movement defines the spirit of this city. From the street performers who dazzle with their artistry, to the graceful steps of couples dancing under the city's starry sky, the streets of Prague feel like a dance floor in their own right.

You've probably guessed by now that my trip wasn't solely about ballet and tutus, was it? I just can't resist indulging in the beauty of fashion! So, naturally, I ventured into the boutiques of Prague's Old Town Square, searching for that perfect little Parisian dress to complete my look (don't worry, my lovelies, a pink tutu is a must, even with a chic French frock, naturally!)

An Evening at The National Theatre: A Cultural Extravaganza

My ballet heart did a little pirouette when I heard the most amazing news - the National Theatre was putting on a show that evening. Can you imagine my delight? A little ballerina can't resist the allure of a world-class performance! The performance was divine; the music, the storytelling, and, of course, the dancers' skill - it was truly magical.

As the evening came to a close, I knew this would be a night I would cherish forever. It was the perfect blend of culture, artistry, and beauty. And honestly, who needs fairy tales when you have the magic of ballet?

Travel By Train: The Romantic Journey of A Pink Tutu-Wearing Ballerina

Before I left Prague, I couldn't resist experiencing the city's iconic train system. There’s something romantic about travelling by train; it feels so vintage and nostalgic. I felt like a ballerina from a bygone era, stepping onto the carriage, a touch of pink tutu peeking out from beneath my elegant coat.

Of course, no train journey is complete without a spot of observation! It was incredible watching the countryside flit by. The lush green fields, the quaint little villages, the rolling hills – it felt like something straight out of a storybook! And I swear, I spotted a charming pony trotting beside the train at one point – what a delightful sight!
