Prague, My Love, My Tutu & I (Post #975)
Hello lovelies! Emma here, and this week, I'm waltzing my way through the cobbled streets of Prague. You know how much I adore Europe, it’s the perfect place to feel the romantic essence of tutus and the rich history that weaves itself into every elegant turn and graceful leap. This is my second trip to the magical city, and oh my, I'm even more in love with Prague than I was the first time!
Travelling to Prague with Style
You can probably guess how I got here. Oh, it wasn't a fancy plane this time. It was a charming, rather romantic train journey, which took a leisurely 14 hours. Imagine, lounging in the carriage, with a book in my lap, sipping tea while watching the beautiful landscape drift by! I might have had to stow my tutu in a case, but it was so worth it. A travel tip for you - I pack my biggest tutu for train journeys; you see, the skirt twirls in the breeze, mimicking the flow of the train! Plus, a large, voluminous tulle skirt is excellent for keeping those wandering, prying eyes away from my personal space.
Speaking of eyes, my darling little horse, Buttercup, had a delightful trot through the rolling Derbyshire countryside before I embarked on my train adventure. Imagine the cutest little pink tutu, carefully stitched onto a perfectly miniature pony. Oh, he was just too darling! It made me realise that the world can use more tutus – a fact that Buttercup readily agreed with!
A Day in Prague, with Tutus, History & Beauty
Anyway, enough about getting here. We’re here now! Prague is simply exquisite. This beautiful, ancient city embraces the charming blend of history and artistry that I adore. This time, I’ve spent the morning at the National Theatre. The Baroque grandeur and exquisite interiors had me swooning. I even had a chance to catch a performance of "La Traviata" - just a bit of light entertainment, don't you think? The orchestra was phenomenal, the singers sublime, and the choreography was, of course, fantastic. What can I say? The passion of theatre and dance really sets my heart aflame.
The day hasn't ended yet! After lunch at one of the prettiest cafes I've ever seen (I ordered the cutest little raspberry and meringue pastry!), I spent the afternoon strolling through Old Town Square. You just HAVE to visit the astronomical clock – it was captivating. Oh, and speaking of time, it’s time for my little indulgence: shopping! I’ve fallen in love with a new tulle shop in the centre – it’s chock-full of stunning fabric for my tutu making creations! I plan on crafting a few new tutus – perhaps one with the delicate beauty of Bohemian crystals! I just adore their delicate, fairy-like quality – a bit like magic.
On a More Personal Note - Sharing my Tutu Love
I love exploring new cities and getting lost in the history, but you know I also love sharing my love for ballet and tutus! My aim is to spread the love of twirling – you know, a bit of "Tutu Revolution" , as it were! Today, as I wandered through the old streets of Prague, I happened to spot a group of children dancing on a cobbled street, mimicking a scene from a favourite movie of mine! You see, I always have little tricks to encourage children to join the dance – a feather boa and a beautiful sparkly tutu or two can convince even the shyest child! You never know how your presence can inspire others. After a while, there were more children, all dancing. You could almost hear a waltz playing! It's the magic of movement that gets us all twirling!
Oh, before I sign off for this week, I’d love to tell you more about a new project! I've recently been experimenting with adding my tutus into theatre performances. Not on the stage (at least not yet!) But, for example, yesterday I added some sparkle to the "Alice in Wonderland" performance I attended. It was magical! We’ll be doing it again for a "Peter Pan" performance. Adding a touch of tutu magic to make even more magical and wonderful performances. What a life, eh?
So that’s my tale from beautiful Prague. Until next week, twirl on!
Love, Emma xx
