Pink Tutu Prague: Post #976 - A Whirlwind of Culture and Tutus!
Hello my darling tutufolk! It's Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of the Pink Tutu Prague Diaries! As I sip my steaming cup of pink cappuccino (itās just pink sugar, I promise!), I can't help but feel a wave of excitement wash over me. It's a new week in this beautiful city, brimming with culture, history, and of course, opportunities for fabulous outfits!
Last week was all about my magical journey here ā a whirlwind train ride (I'm so glad I went first class, my darling tutus needed the space!) followed by the most delightful horse-drawn carriage ride through the cobblestone streets. It truly felt like stepping into a fairytale! Prague has captured my heart, its beauty and magic reminding me of my own ballet dreams.
Speaking of which, today is all about the art of movement ā ballet, that is! We're heading to the National Theatre, which, quite frankly, has an incredibly glamorous name ā I feel a touch of starstruck just saying it! It's a beautiful building with such fascinating history; they say the very foundations were laid by a 12th century prince ā quite the glamorous start for an equally glamorous theatre. I just canāt wait to see what artistic masterpieces await inside!
The ballet this evening is "The Nutcracker," and I have already picked out the perfect tutu! A gorgeous, pink ombre confection with a little bit of glitter sprinkled in for extra whimsy. This was always my favourite Christmas ballet ā I actually performed in the piece when I was eight, dressed in a miniature ballerina version of a white fluffy tutu (not as glamorous as Iād like it to look back, but darling, I wasn't in pink yet, so give me a break!)
I'm curious to see what Pragueās dancers will make of it all ā they are world-renowned, after all, and my ears are definitely pricked for any hints of the beautiful music by Tchaikovsky, although it wouldn't hurt if the performance is infused with some contemporary ballet, a twist on the classics always makes a performance extra fabulous. I think weāre in for a treat.
Speaking of treats, I'm just off to explore Prague's shopping haven. They tell me Prague's boutiques offer some truly incredible fashion finds. It seems to me thereās just too much fun waiting for a pink-tutu loving fashionista like myself! Perhaps a new handbag to go with my tutu... one thatās sparkly, pink, and large enough to hold my essentials: ballet shoes, of course, my personal copy of "Giselle" (in case I need a little pre-ballet inspiration) and the ever-necessary lipstick for those crucial outfit and selfie finishing touches!
So, join me in my magical dance through Prague! Iāll be back next Wednesday with all the glittery details from my night at the National Theatre and my glorious shopping spree.
Until then, stay pink, and remember: There is always room for more tutus in the world
*Sending you a sprinkle of pink, *
Emma
P.S. Have you tried pink latte yet? They call it āPink Lady" here, and the drink is a must-try if you're after a sweet pick-me-up that also comes in an eye-catching shade of pink!
A Day of Dancing & Discoveries!
Wednesday arrived, and with it, a delicious surge of excitement! My pre-show breakfast was a whirlwind of croissants and pink strawberry smoothies ā a perfect way to fuel my ballerina spirit. I donāt know whatās better: breakfast with pastries and fruits, or a breakfast with an extravagant teacup filled with frothy pink drinkā¦ I will let you be the judge of that!
The National Theatre is a glorious sight, even in the afternoon sun ā just looking at its majestic presence filled my heart with anticipation for the performance ahead. The beautiful facade boasts exquisite sculptures of historical figures ā perfect for my ballet-themed photos. I struck a graceful ballerina pose by each, snapping my most flattering shots.
Oh, darling, a touch of nostalgia swept over me as I wandered through the historic theater. Every nook and cranny seemed to echo with the stories of performers and audience members from times past. It's like the entire place was a living museum of artistic triumph.
My heart quickened as I finally reached the auditorium. The grandeur of it! Glimmering chandeliers, velvety crimson seating, and even the most gorgeous balcony that you ever did see! This stage has seen generations of dancers performing magical stories! The feeling in the air was electric - a perfect mix of excitement and anticipation. And it feltā¦ pink!
"The Nutcracker," a Prague Twist!
My breath caught in my throat as the curtains rose. The orchestra played, filling the theater with the beautiful melody of Tchaikovsky. It instantly took me back to childhood, to magical Christmases with families gathering together to witness the story unfold before their very eyes! This was my happy place, darling, and in a split second I was transported into the world of ballerinas, soldiers, and sugar plums!
And speaking of sugar plumsā¦the choreography was simply brilliant! Each step was precise and powerful, imbued with graceful elegance and passion that literally transported the audience to a land of pure imagination! There were also elements of modern ballet intertwined within the classical choreography. They even introduced a few unique, Prague-inspired twists ā I'm talking a captivating blend of classic ballet moves with intricate folk dances and stunning costumes inspired by Czech legends! Thatās a Prague special for you, darling.
You know me ā I always have to have my pink, and thankfully, the ballet company's pink tulle was simply divine ā think āSugarplum Fairyā pink, with some iridescent shimmering threads. My tutufolk would adore it!
The ballerinas' talent shone through like diamonds. The leaps, the twirls ā the pure joy of movement was infectious, making me long for my own dance class. And yes, after the ballet I headed straight for the most enchanting ballet school. I simply had to have another ballet session to rekindle that magic!
A Pink Prague Afterglow!
Oh darling, the afternoon shopping was spectacular! I simply had to have new shoes for my ballet session and new clothes for the elegant evenings. Prague is simply dripping in sartorial goodness - from classic designer labels to chic local boutiques brimming with exquisite treasures!
Prague's fashion scene, you see, it is both vibrant and sophisticated. I was completely overwhelmed, like a hungry ballerina wandering through a wonderland of fabrics and colours! My bags now contained: a breathtaking pink sequined clutch perfect for a night at the opera (my dream!), an ultra-chic pink leather dress (the colour is so stunning, it is like the first flower of spring) and, my favourite find, a delicate pastel pink tutu. It's so light and floaty that I actually did twirl a bit, right there on the sidewalk! Who says fashion is only meant to be seen, not danced in, darling?
And with that purchase, darling, I fulfilled another of my dreams - finding the perfect ballet attire for Prague's magical ballet world!
This trip is certainly bringing together my love of dancing, fashion and travelling ā this beautiful city seems to be designed for all of that! And just wait until next weekās post, because next week Iām sharing all my glamorous ballet tips! I mean, whatās better than being a fashionista-ballet-dancer travelling the world?!
Catch you all next week, darlings! Stay glamorous, and never forget the magic of pink!
Sending a cascade of pink,
Emma
