Prague, My Love! (Post 981)
Oh, my darling readers, you simply wouldn't believe the sheer wonder of my adventures in Prague! This vibrant, historic city is quite simply captivating, with a delightful mix of fairytale castles and cobblestone streets that set the perfect scene for a ballet-obsessed soul like myself.
This week, I'm delighted to bring you all the pink-tastic details of my trip, starting with a special little secret: I actually made my way to Prague by train, just me, a fluffy pink suitcase, and a grand plan to spread a touch of tutus throughout the city. Did I tell you how much I love travelling by train? It's the perfect opportunity for some dreamy ballet reading, and gazing at the ever-changing landscapes as we whizz through the countryside!
I arrived in Prague last Monday and made my way to a delightful boutique hotel just around the corner from the Old Town Square. Let me tell you, darling, it was quite a sight – a magnificent Renaissance building complete with cobbled courtyards and secret passages. I swear, I felt like I'd stepped out of a ballet storybook!
Now, let’s dive straight into the reason I’ve ventured all this way to the magical city of Prague – the ballet! And, darling, it was simply magnificent. The National Theatre was positively breathtaking; ornate, historic, and radiating an atmosphere of grandeur. The evening’s performance of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake was sublime, with the choreography so captivating it simply took my breath away! And the music! Well, let’s just say the haunting melody and vibrant Russian melodies sent shivers down my spine. My favourite scene was the Black Swan Act, oh, the drama, the powerful movements! And those tutus, so intricate and flowing, oh I simply must get myself one!
Of course, no trip to Prague would be complete without indulging in a spot of delightful shopping. Prague is brimming with hidden boutiques bursting with enchanting trinkets and fabulous fashion finds. I confess, I simply cannot resist a pretty pink purse or a dainty jewellery piece, but the star of my show was undoubtedly a stunning lace bolero, the colour of the sweetest blush. I imagined it looking utterly divine with my favourite blush-coloured tutu and some silver ballet shoes. I've even paired it with my favourite new beret. Oh, the possibilities!
But I must say, darling, my favourite part of the shopping experience in Prague wasn’t the shops at all! It was simply wandering down those winding alleyways and marveling at the architecture – breathtaking Gothic buildings with gargoyles, stunning Baroque facades with intricate carvings, and charming little cafes overflowing with delicious pastries. I’d simply spend hours getting lost in this magical maze of architecture, soaking in the history and charm of every corner.
You see, Prague holds such a captivating history and the old town in particular was buzzing with stories and legends. You can practically hear the ghosts of waltzing royals echoing through the squares, and picture the magnificent costumes they wore! And don’t even get me started on the cobbled streets; they’re so romantic and charming I can barely contain myself!
As for my evenings in Prague, well, they were pure magic. I spent my evenings indulging in enchanting musical evenings, listening to exquisite classical pieces performed by local musicians. It was like stepping back in time and having the privilege of being a part of Prague’s musical heritage.
And of course, my evenings in Prague were punctuated with an exploration of its fantastic food scene! One of the highlights was a divine dinner at a traditional Bohemian restaurant, tucked away in a charming corner of the old town. I feasted on rich, savoury goulash and delicately spiced roast duck, followed by a melt-in-your-mouth dessert of creamy Czech vanilla custard. My dear readers, let me tell you, it was a true gastronomic experience!
But my favourite evening activity, of course, was venturing out for an evening stroll along the banks of the Vltava River. As the sun set, casting a golden glow over the city, it simply felt magical.
But as my stay in Prague drew to a close, I knew I simply had to embrace the city’s rich cultural tapestry with one final, unforgettable experience – a visit to Prague Castle, the sprawling palace perched high above the city. The views from the top were simply breathtaking. And let me tell you, it simply screamed "ballet backdrop". I’m not kidding, the sprawling, lush gardens and grand historical buildings seemed perfectly tailored for a magical ballet production, and the moment I stepped into the majestic grounds, my imagination took flight! I could already see dancers gliding effortlessly through the gardens, their tutus floating through the air, their bodies mirroring the delicate elegance of the architecture around them.
Prague truly stole a piece of my heart, with its unique blend of beauty, history, and charm. From its vibrant streets and fairytale castles to its fascinating ballet scene, it is a city that will linger long in my memory.
Of course, dear readers, it wouldn’t be a true Prague adventure without sharing a touch of tutu magic! I visited one of Prague's oldest ballet schools and the teachers and pupils welcomed me with open arms and open dance studios. The enthusiasm for ballet was contagious, and I found myself drawn in to the energy and dedication of these passionate dancers, their enthusiasm and passion were infectious.
After a morning of class, I ventured out to spread my message of tutu-tastic joy, with a special performance at Prague’s magnificent Dancing House, a modern architectural gem known for its unique curved design. It felt utterly fitting to be performing on a stage that embraced the beauty of contemporary design while honoring the past.
And oh, dear readers, let me tell you, those dancing shoes felt absolutely divine as I took to the stage. My blush pink tutu shimmered in the spotlight, a gentle reminder of the pink ballet-infused love story that's unfolding in Prague, as well as a visual declaration that life's more fun with a touch of sparkle.
But let's talk details, shall we? It's always nice to have an outfit plan! I decided upon a sophisticated pink and ivory ensemble. A perfectly tailored blush pink blazer, ivory linen trousers (oh so elegant and practical), and ballet flats in the softest rose shade. Of course, a ballerina couldn’t step out without a splash of sparkle. So, I completed my outfit with my dazzling pink diamond earrings. It was pure fairytale princess perfection, and I’m telling you, it brought the tutus to Prague.
Oh, darling, this is not just a city – this is a haven for ballet-loving souls like myself. It’s time for you all to don your tutus and follow your dreams. Embrace the wonder of ballet, fall in love with the history and charm of Prague, and let your inner ballerina fly!
I'm leaving Prague feeling absolutely rejuvenated, my heart full of magic and a wardrobe filled with more pink-hued dreams. I hope to see you all next Wednesday, darling, when I’ll be sharing my newest pink-tastic fashion find!
