Pink Tutu Prague - Ballet Dreams and Pink Parades - Post #985
Wednesday 12th March 2014
Bonjour, darling dears! Emma here, reporting live from the utterly charming city of Prague, the Czech Republic. As you all know, I'm a girl who's got a thing for twirling, and twirling in Prague? Let's just say it's been an absolute dream!
The Prague Arrival
My journey here was just as delightful as you can imagine. A scenic train ride, with sunshine peeking through the trees, was the perfect way to kick off this week's adventure. Honestly, who needs aeroplanes when you have the wind whispering through your hair and the smell of freshly cut grass in the air? My pale pink tutu even caught a couple of admiring glances from the window. You see, it’s not all about glamour when you’re travelling, darlings. Sometimes it's the journey that’s the true showstopper.
Czech Tutus
I simply had to find out what the local ballet scene was like! I spent the afternoon exploring the heart of the city. The architecture is simply breathtaking – it feels like a fairy tale come to life! And, of course, I couldn’t resist popping into some of the gorgeous little boutiques selling vintage clothing. I discovered some truly fabulous antique tutus - one even came with an intricate lace pattern that resembled tiny pink rosebuds! I may have indulged in a little bit of retail therapy... just a teeny bit. After all, what's a ballet lover's trip to Prague without a new addition to her tutu collection, eh?
A Delightful Evening at the Theatre
Tonight's highlight? A captivating performance at the National Theatre! The sheer artistry was exquisite! Every pirouette, every grand jeté, each dancer flowed seamlessly onto the stage like a whirlwind of grace and beauty. My own tutu felt like it wanted to join in the action. You wouldn't believe how many eyes were on me when I gasped in amazement at one particularly spectacular jump. Clearly, I'm a beacon of elegance. (It is a good job I’m wearing pink! It helps me stand out from the crowd. And by the crowd, I’m talking about everyone in the audience - all clad in muted black or grey. Oh darling, who needs black? Let's paint the world pink! It's so much more cheerful and uplifting! The show included a gorgeous version of Swan Lake. What can I say? The Czech Republic has some pretty impressive ballet talents!
Fashion in Prague
Prague's style is truly unique. You have so much history swirling through this beautiful city that you can feel it in the fashion too. The locals here have such an air of sophisticated elegance - with classic silhouettes paired with daring details, much like a vintage ballet costume. I found myself drawn to vintage lace tops, some seriously statement hats (the bigger, the better), and a truly divine collection of brogues - think delicate, feminine detailing with a touch of rebellious edge! Now, we’re not going to let the ladies here hold all the style, are we? I’m heading out to try on some gorgeous vintage shoes. If you saw my instagram post, you’d see that they match the lace pattern on the tutu I bought today.
Tutu Trends in Prague
I must confess, it's a tad tricky finding any other tutu-wearing ladies on the streets of Prague. But hey, every now and then I do spot a young girl twirling with delight in a tutu-esque skirt, or maybe a fashionista with a fabulous tutu-inspired dress. Don't be shy, Prague! You’ve got the pink spirit in you somewhere. Perhaps a few more pink tutus are just waiting to be unleashed. Imagine the street fashion!
Dinner & Dreams
After a busy day, my appetite was absolutely ravenous. A leisurely stroll to a quaint restaurant filled with twinkling fairy lights (the perfect romantic atmosphere for a tutu-clad solo traveller like myself) provided the perfect excuse for an enormous plate of traditional Czech food. Think creamy mushroom soup, dumplings stuffed with cheesy fillings, and the most delicious roast pork I've ever tasted. You know, darling, they do say the food is the way to a ballerina's heart... and they’re definitely right!
Night in the Pink Palace
And finally, tucked away in a luxurious pink-themed hotel (how else would I do it?) – complete with pink rose-shaped soap, sparkling pink chandeliers, and feather-light pink bedding - I was swept into a peaceful dream world.
I know you’re waiting with baited breath to hear about what my travels hold for me tomorrow. Oh, my dears! It will be one for the history books…
Until next Wednesday, darling! Keep dancing! And don't forget, pink is always the perfect colour!
Yours,
Emma
