Prague: Where Ballerinas Dream in Pink! (Post #986)
Bonjour mes chéries! It’s Wednesday, which means it's time for another installment of your favourite fashionista's globetrotting adventures! Today, we're waltzing through the charming cobblestone streets of Prague, a city as enchanting as a Tchaikovsky symphony! I arrived last night, of course, by train (such a romantic way to travel, don't you think?). The journey from Derbyshire was a dream, the scenery just whizzing by like a graceful pas de deux.
I had to get myself settled in, naturally, and the best way to do that is with a spot of retail therapy! I mean, you can't wear a pink tutu while touring the old town without some fabulous new pieces, can you?
The shopping here is just divine. So many charming boutiques, filled with Bohemian chic that makes me want to twirl. I picked up a stunning blush-coloured silk scarf, perfect for accentuating my ballet bun (and the colour complements my new pink tutu beautifully!). I also couldn't resist a whimsical beaded necklace – the kind that sparkles under the gaslight and whispers "ballet!"
Pink Tutus, Prague Style!
Speaking of tutus, I must share the absolutely fabulous Parisian shop I discovered tucked away on a quiet alley! They call it "The Pink Feather." It's a haven for ballet lovers, bursting with everything from silk pointe shoes to sparkling tutus in every colour under the sun, including – you guessed it – my favourite hue! I spent a good half an hour just dreaming, twirling, and giggling. The owner, a sweet French lady named Madame Fleur, gifted me a darling little pink tulle feather to adorn my handbag, just the finishing touch for my Parisian-inspired outfit!
A Cultural Delight: The Ballet
Tonight, darling, is the main event – the reason for my whole trip, in fact! Tonight, we see the Czech National Ballet perform Giselle, a masterpiece of Romantic ballet. This iconic performance tells a tale of love, betrayal, and the supernatural, all set to a heart-wrenching score.
I’ve been dying to see this ballet since I read about it in my ballet history textbook back in Derbyshire. The sheer elegance of Giselle’s white tutu, her flowing movements, and the powerful choreography… It's just magic! I cannot wait!
Prague, A Ballet-Lover’s Paradise
And honestly, this city is truly a paradise for a ballet-obsessed traveller. Everywhere I turn, I find new and fascinating connections to dance history. From the majestic National Theatre (which I'll be visiting tomorrow, mark your calendars!), to the intricate stained glass windows in the Church of Our Lady Before Týn (each piece tells a silent story of grace and beauty, like a ballet without words!), Prague pulsates with a ballet spirit. Even the way the locals stroll down the streets, with an easy elegance and a touch of bohemian flair, feels reminiscent of a dancer's graceful carriage.
To Ballet and Beyond!
Well, darling, my tutu and I have to dash now – the curtain is soon to rise at the National Theatre! I'll share my full review of the Giselle performance in next week's blog post. Stay tuned, and remember: Pink is powerful, and even more so with a twirl! Until then, stay fashionable and always remember to wear a pink tutu – you know you want to!
Yours truly,
Emma
