Prague: Where Ballet Meets Pink Tutus (Post #1003)

Hello my dearest Tutu-ettes! 🩰💖

This Wednesday's post finds me in the enchanting city of Prague, the very heart of Europe. Just the thought of this beautiful city, with its cobbled streets, historic architecture and fairytale charm, was enough to send my heart fluttering like a ballerina's pirouette. And guess what? It didn't disappoint! This city is everything I imagined it would be and more!

I’ve arrived straight from a wonderful show in a sleepy seaside town on the English coast. Performing ‘Swan Lake’ by the beach was absolutely magical, even though the waves did crash a bit louder than I would have liked, during the ‘Dying Swan’ sequence. Oh well! Nothing quite like a bit of sea spray to add drama to a ballerina’s performance, eh? 😉

This journey, like many before it, was undertaken by train. I have to confess that I’m completely smitten with the idea of train travel. It's so elegant, romantic and allows me to gaze out the window, sketching in my little notebook while dreaming of all the tutu adventures to come! This time I even indulged in a first class carriage, just to add a little bit of extra glamour to my travels. Let's be honest, any excuse to wear a pink tutu on the train, right?

Once in Prague, it was a delightful journey by horse and carriage – pony and carriage actually! What’s a ballerina’s life without a little bit of fairytale magic? The coachman, a delightful man in a tweed jacket and bowler hat, told me fascinating stories of Prague's history, from emperors and kings to artists and musicians. It felt like stepping into a scene from ‘The Nutcracker’, except, of course, with a very, very pink twist!

My journey has begun with an exploration of Prague's most enchanting attractions, starting with the breathtaking Old Town Square, an exquisite symphony of Gothic and Baroque architecture. I felt like I'd stepped straight out of a ballet production! It felt so magical and elegant, a perfect fit for a ballet-obsessed traveller like myself.

Speaking of ballet, one of the main reasons I'm here is to explore Prague's rich history of dance, which spans centuries! I am here to take in the wonders of ballet! Oh, the thrill! Can you believe it, Tutu-ettes, this incredible journey to Prague is happening for real? It’s not even a dream, this time! The pink tulle on my tutu is fluttering just from excitement.

This weekend is dedicated to immersing myself in the vibrant culture of Prague’s ballet scene, starting with a visit to the stunning National Theatre, which boasts some of the world’s best ballets. This year’s programme includes ‘The Sleeping Beauty’, a production that promises to be simply exquisite. I simply cannot wait to be whisked away to a magical world of fairies, princesses and charming princes, all beautifully adorned in the most glorious pink tutus imaginable, naturally!

But before that, my fellow ballet enthusiasts, I’ve been trying my luck at some truly incredible shopping in the enchanting lanes and alleyways of Prague’s Old Town, with my sights set on a few perfect additions to my ballet wardrobe.

For today, I’m aiming to visit some of Prague's more exclusive boutiques – I must add that the pink theme remains strong here in the heart of Prague! – for some truly exquisite ballet-inspired attire. Just imagine the most delicate and luxurious fabrics, flowing gracefully like the wind, oh, I do so adore the graceful artistry of these fabrics!

And what's a trip to Prague without experiencing some delicious, authentic Czech cuisine? I’m heading to a quaint little restaurant called "U Medvidků," known for their hearty dishes, especially their famed ‘Medvidkova,’ a dark, strong and deeply satisfying brew of their own making. This beverage, which they claim has an intoxicating taste and flavour like none other, just screams 'pink tutu’! You don't want to know why, because honestly, I just don’t, okay? Maybe, just maybe, it's the secret ingredient that sets this magical, dark and frothy brew apart from the rest. A delicious secret, indeed.

Today’s journey begins, and I’m certain I shall have so many fabulous discoveries in the land of pink tutus. I’m certain to discover plenty more treasures, which I will, naturally, share with all of you soon.

Until then, dear Tutu-ettes, let us embrace the enchantment of this stunning city and live life with the elegance and grace of a ballerina! And don’t forget to keep on twirling and never let anyone dull your sparkle! 💖🩰

Yours in Pink Tutus, Emma xx
