Prague, My Darling! Post 1008: Pink Tutu Travels to the Heart of Europe

Hello darlings! It's Emma, your pink tutu-loving travel blogger, and today we're whisked away to the magical city of Prague! Yes, my little cherubs, Prague has called me, and who am I to resist? I'm absolutely positively over the moon to be in this captivating city, filled with cobblestone streets, breathtaking architecture, and enough charming cafés to keep even the most insatiable caffeine addict happy.

It's been a whirlwind of a journey! My trusty steed (a little chestnut pony named Pip) took me to the station, where I boarded the most luxurious train I've ever seen - think velvet seats, chandeliers, and a very suave gentleman serving hot chocolate! It's amazing how travelling by train just seems to add to the magic of the trip. I’ve decided train travel is the only way to get that "I'm in a beautiful film" feeling!

I must confess, arriving in Prague, I felt an instant kinship with the city. Its colourful and playful spirit resonates deeply with my own love of vibrant colours and all things fabulous. Speaking of fabulous, I was just perusing a beautiful little vintage boutique where I found the most perfect pink tutu for my Prague escapades! (You’ll have to wait for my next post for a little peek, but it’s just chefs kiss).

And what’s a trip to Prague without a ballet show? Oh, my dears! Tonight, I am utterly ecstatic to be attending the "PinkTutuPrague" ballet performance at the stunning Estates Theatre. (The name, of course, has nothing to do with my own tutu tendencies… maybe.) The programme features a captivating mix of classical ballet and contemporary works, which I'm totally excited for.

You see, darlings, the whole ballet history in Prague is simply captivating. Did you know that the Estates Theatre itself was built in the late 18th century and has been host to some of the greatest ballet performances? My dear, it’s not just history but also tradition. For hundreds of years, ballerinas have graced the stages here, showcasing their talent and grace, just as I will be showcasing my very own pink tutu! Oh, to be dancing among such a magnificent legacy of ballerinas! It just sets the stage for an amazing evening!

And yes, it's Wednesday again! Which means another blog post for you, my lovelies! So let’s take a journey through the sights, sounds, and pink-tinted wonders of Prague!

Dancing with Prague's History

It is absolutely breathtaking how seamlessly history blends with modern life in this magical city. The ancient buildings whisper tales of emperors and empresses, and the bustling markets offer the most delicious cheeses, breads, and, my absolute favourite - handmade chocolate. Honestly, darling, Prague is a chocolate-lover’s paradise. There are more chocolatiers than I can count! But I won’t let them distract me from my primary reason for being here - to feel the magic of the ballet world.

Today, I took a walk around Old Town Square, soaking in the charming architecture and snapping a few pictures with a perfect little pink tutu shot in front of the stunning astronomical clock. My Instagram is definitely getting a makeover! I've already seen so much beauty in these few days – the iconic Charles Bridge with its baroque statues, the beautiful Prague Castle perched on the hill, and even the Old Jewish Quarter, filled with quiet, cobblestone streets. But it's not all sightseeing and pictures for your devoted blogger. No, no, darling! A little ballet research and exploration are in order.

Have I told you how passionate I am about the history of the tutu? The evolution of the tutu from its simple, practical beginnings to the elaborate, dazzling garment it is today, is just fascinating! It's a piece of clothing that transcends its practicality, evolving into a symbol of grace, beauty, and elegance. Every little ruffle, every carefully stitched layer of tulle, it tells a story. I find myself gravitating towards the delicate, romantic tutu styles that echo the early days, where romanticism reigned supreme. I can just imagine ballerinas twirling in the golden glow of gaslight theatres, the pink and lavender hues of their tutus complementing the rich tapestry of the historical theatres. Now that is truly inspiring!

I must admit, my exploration of Prague’s ballet history has only heightened my anticipation for the show tonight! And while we're on the topic of the "PinkTutuPrague" performance, I am so excited about seeing a performance of one of the most famous ballet pieces - "The Nutcracker"! I can’t even contain my excitement to see it live and in such a beautiful, historic venue. It is truly an honour to witness this extraordinary ballet performance, filled with magic and charm, in a city so rich with its own story!

I may have wandered a little off the beaten track during my history research, ending up in a charming vintage clothing shop that smelled like lavender and vanilla, full of stunning gowns and furs from a bygone era. But, you know me, I had to find that one pink tutu tucked amongst the velvets and laces!

My little pink tutu treasure hunt has been so rewarding. You simply can't imagine how magical it feels to be strolling through Prague, spotting the city’s beautiful pink accents everywhere. There's even a pink streetlight near my hotel, and it reminds me to embrace life with an added dash of joy and pinkness. And speaking of pink…

The Art of Pink - My Little Secret for Feeling Good

Darling, you know me, pink is my lifeblood! Pink makes me happy. Pink is optimistic. It is the color of the playful and carefree. And for this girl, who sees life through rose-coloured glasses and dreams of dancing with fairy dust on her tutu, the colour pink is truly magic.

From my ballerina slippers to my little notebook filled with pink-tinted doodles of ballerinas and tutus, the colour pink keeps my spirit buoyant. As I stroll down the cobblestone streets of Prague, taking in the captivating beauty around me, I simply cannot help but notice how pink reflects this city's charm, its unique essence. There are those pretty pink rooftops peeking through the charming squares and alleyways, pink pastries in the bakeries, and of course, my little pink tutu. It all creates a beautiful harmony. Pink makes Prague just that little bit more special.

Prague’s artistic spirit resonates deeply with me. This city is a wonderland for anyone with a flair for fashion, just as I do. From the quirky little boutiques in the charming alleyways to the larger department stores showcasing all the latest trends, Prague caters to every kind of fashionista. Just wait till I share my shopping haul from my visit to the Design Supermarket – let’s just say it involves an abundance of pink! I'll save those exciting revelations for my next post!

As my Prague adventure unfolds, I am reminded of the powerful bond that exists between fashion and ballet. The way the soft layers of tulle twirl and sway as a ballerina performs, the delicate beauty of hand-sewn sequins shimmering in the stage lights, the elegant silhouette, it’s all a beautiful symphony of fashion and art! And as I waltz into the Estates Theatre tonight, ready to see "The Nutcracker" unfold before me, my pink tutu will add a touch of my own magic to this grand occasion.

Prague has been absolutely magical so far, and the magic is only just beginning. Stay tuned, darlings! There's so much more to discover!
