Hello my lovely tutu-lovers!
Well, here I am, ensconced in a quaint little hotel in the heart of Prague, the "City of a Hundred Spires." I practically squealed with delight when I saw the view from my window, a jumble of rooftops topped with shimmering, ornate spires, reaching up to the azure Czech sky.
This week's adventure, dear readers, is all about the beautiful world of ballet and the glorious, historic city of Prague. As you know, this blog is a whirlwind of twirls and tiaras, and I love sharing my passion for dance and all things feminine.
How I Got Here: A Train and a Pony?
After a gloriously scenic journey by train, from the rolling green hills of Derbyshire, England, I hopped on a carriage drawn by a magnificent white stallion (they're a real treat here!) for a breathtaking ride through the Czech countryside. Yes, I'm a total girly-girl at heart! It wouldn't be a proper Emma Pink Tutu adventure without a dash of fairy tale charm, right?
The Ballerina's Paradise
The Czech Republic, as many of you know, is steeped in dance history. The National Theatre in Prague has been hosting breathtaking ballet productions for over a century, and tonight I am so excited to see a performance of "Giselle," a tragic yet utterly beautiful masterpiece by the renowned choreographer Jean Coralli. I am wearing, of course, the most divine shade of pink tutu that could possibly complement the grandeur of this theatre.
Pink Tutus and Bohemian Glamour
Before the ballet, I indulged in some serious shopping at the Old Town Square. The architecture is magnificent! These cobbled streets are a riot of vibrant colours, adorned with exquisite Baroque churches and enchanting cafes overflowing with laughter and the aroma of fresh pastries. My heart almost burst with happiness when I discovered a boutique brimming with vintage, pastel-hued dresses and vintage jewellery. It's all very Bohemian and terribly chic. Oh, the possibilities for accessorizing a pink tutu are simply endless!
The Magic of Giselle
Now, for the highlight of my evening: the ballet. Stepping into the grand hall of the National Theatre, I was mesmerized. The opulent interior, a glorious tapestry of velvet curtains and ornate gilded details, instantly transported me to another era. And the performance! A testament to the art of classical ballet, every graceful leap, every passionate arabesque, took my breath away. Giselle, with her ethereal beauty and heartbroken fragility, danced like a whisper on the wind.
Beyond Ballet: Prague's Charm
Beyond the ballet, Prague has an enchanting, mystical quality. From the echoing, vaulted halls of Prague Castle to the winding alleyways of the Jewish Quarter, every turn of the cobbled streets reveals a new treasure. It's the perfect destination for lovers of art, history, and beauty - and a delightful source of inspiration for my future blog posts!
