Prague's Pink Promise: A Ballet-Filled Adventure (Post #1012)

Bonjour, darlings! It's Emma here, your favourite pink-tutu-clad adventurer, reporting live from the utterly enchanting city of Prague. And yes, this glorious tutu is definitely not just for the stage, it's ready to conquer the cobbled streets, the historic squares, and every charming cafe Prague has to offer.

It's Wednesday, which means it's time for a new Prague blog post. As usual, my life here has been a whirlwind of ballet, fashion, and fun! This week has been particularly spectacular, because on Wednesday, 29th October, I finally witnessed the breathtaking beauty of the Prague National Theatre ballet.

Oh, let me tell you, it was simply divine. As I took my seat in the beautiful, opulent auditorium, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement. The air was thick with anticipation, and I couldn't wait to see the magic unfold before my very eyes.

I don't want to spoil the surprise, darling, so I'm keeping the ballet under wraps for now, but I'll tell you this much: it was an exquisite blend of traditional grace and modern storytelling. The dancers, in their stunning costumes (oh, the sheer loveliness of their tutus!), moved with a fluidity that was both mesmerising and inspiring.

After the performance, I strolled along the charming streets of Prague, feeling utterly mesmerised by the city's unique blend of architectural wonders, cobblestone paths, and atmospheric corners. It's truly a city for every ballet-lover.

You know, Prague holds a special place in my heart when it comes to ballet history. Did you know that ballet became really popular in Bohemia (the area that now encompasses Czech Republic) during the 17th and 18th centuries? They even had special "ballroom" dances that were really important, and even though the Czech dance traditions were mixed up with the Austrian and French styles of ballet, it still led to the gorgeous performances we see in Prague today. And of course, the architecture of the Prague National Theatre, built in 1881, is a grand architectural jewel itself. It's no wonder Prague has always had this magical, fairy tale feeling to it!

Speaking of which, I had a delightful encounter at the charming Cafe Louvre while enjoying my usual afternoon latte. I was admiring a beautifully embroidered floral tapestry in the cafe when a gentleman, obviously a ballet enthusiast, joined me at my table. He told me, in the most charming Czech accent, about a historic ballerina from the early 1900s named Anežka HanuÅ”ovĆ”, who made a huge impact in the Prague ballet scene! It was truly heartwarming to learn about her.

Of course, no trip to Prague is complete without some fabulous fashion finds! I am positively obsessed with the antique shops and boutiques tucked away in the cobblestone streets. They are bursting with vintage treasures, from beautifully crafted Victorian hats to the most amazing embroidered blouses. I snagged the most beautiful hand-painted silk scarf for my mum back in Derbyshire, I know she'll adore it! And, naturally, I found a brand new tulle skirt in the most delicate shade of pink ā€“ it was meant to be!

My time in Prague, of course, has been fuelled by my love of train travel, with a slight twist of magic. Since my arrival, I've fallen head over heels for Prague's unique system of ā€œhistoricā€ horse-drawn carriages. Imagine, dear readers, cruising through the streets with the clip-clop of horse hooves and the gentle swaying of a beautiful, vintage carriage, a symphony for the senses!

And who says fashion and ballet canā€™t blend? Let me tell you, my darling readers, there's not a single fashion faux pas when it comes to sporting a tutu in a horse-drawn carriage! It's like stepping right out of a vintage film! And let me tell you, the look of genuine surprise on the faces of passersby is priceless.

It's amazing, this whole tutu revolution I started is starting to catch on! Just the other day, a couple strolling by pointed to my pink tutu and asked for my Instagram! I have to say, sharing my love for all things pink and tutu has become a little more adventurous here, since Prague is full of young creative people! The city feels like it's just starting to awaken to the unique possibilities of incorporating pink and tulle in their everyday fashion. Itā€™s a true delight to watch this playful blend of history and modern style unfold!

In addition to all of this, I had the pleasure of visiting the stunning Prague Castle, where history comes to life. Imagine, darling, a vast and ancient castle, nestled high above the city, with breathtaking views of the red-roofed buildings sprawling below. Of course, I made a little spectacle of myself by swirling in a tutu on the castle grounds ā€“ but it was just too tempting to resist! The majestic silhouette of Prague Castle against the clear blue sky, framed by a spinning, pink tutu, made for a memory that will stay with me forever.

And so, dear readers, Prague continues to charm, to captivate, and to fill me with inspiration. I feel an exciting buzz, an invigorating feeling that encourages me to step out of my comfort zone, dance in the streets, and most importantly, continue spreading the message of joy, whimsy, and most definitely, the beautiful art of pink!

Stay tuned next week for my next Prague post, where I'll be sharing my adventure with a delightful Prague bakery that produces the most magnificent gingerbread and a ballet workshop. Oh, and, of course, expect plenty of sartorial delights as I explore more of Pragueā€™s stunning fashion scene!

Until then, darling, donā€™t forget to twirl! And remember, everyone looks better in pink!

Warmly,

Emma
